Recently, a fuel cell is remarkable for new generation system. The fuel cell generation system converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell generation is characterized by low voltage and high current. For connecting to utility, it needs both a step up converter and an inverter. The step up converter makes DC link and the inverter changes DC to AC. In this paper full bridge converter and the single phase inverter are designed and installed for fuel cell. Simulation and experiment verify that fuel cell generation system could be applied for the distributed generation.
Parametric studies are executed by numerical method varying then number of strain gauges, rail section and distance of sleeper from which the followings are obtained. Wheel forces or lateral forces are measured by connecting eight strain gauges on rail to single Wheatstone bridge. The method eliminates the influence of interaction and measured stability. Strain gauges are fastened on the neutral axis of the rail so as not to be influenced by sleeper.
The conventional phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converter with an LC filter has been widely used for high-power applications of over 1.0 kW. However, the PSFB converter cannot obtain optimal power conversion efficiency during the battery charging in electric vehicle (EV) on-board battery charger applications because of its unique drawbacks, such as a large circulating current and very high voltage stress in the rectifier diodes. As a result, the converters with a capacitive filter, such as LLC resonant converters, replace the PSFB converter in the EV chargers. This study analyzes the problems of the PSFB converter for EV on-board charger applications in detail. Moreover, the newest converters based on the conventional PSFB converter are reviewed. On the basis of the reviews, new PSFB converter topologies are proposed for EV charger applications. The new topologies are formed by connecting the rectifier stage in the PSFB converter with the output of an LLC resonant converter in series. Many problems of the conventional PSFB converter for EV charger applications can be solved and the performance can be more improved because of this structure; this idea is confirmed by an experiment consisting of prototype battery chargers under the output voltage range of 250-450 Vdc at 3.3 kW.
In this paper, a three-phase induction machine-based wind power generation scheme is proposed. This scheme uses a low-cost diode bridge rectifier circuit connected to an induction machine via an ac load voltage regulator (AC-LVR) to regulate dc power transfer. The AC-LVR is used to regulate the DC load voltage of the diode bridge rectifier circuit which is connected to the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG). The excitation of the three-phase SEIG is supplied by the static VAR compensator (SVC). This simple method for obtaining a full variable-speed wind turbine system by applying a back-to-back power converter to a wound rotor induction generator is useful for wind power generation at widely varying speeds. The dynamic performance responses and the experimental results of connecting a 5kW 220V three-phase SEIG directly to a diode bridge rectifier are presented for various loads. Moreover, the steady-state simulated and experimental results of the PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme prove the practical effectiveness of these simple methods for use with a wind turbine system.
The Incheon Bridge, which was opened to the traffic in October 2009, is an 18.4 km long sea-crossing bridge connecting the Incheon International Airport with the expressway networks around the Seoul metropolitan area by way of Songdo District of Incheon City. This bridge is an integration of several special featured bridges and the major part of the bridge consists of cable-stayed spans. This marine cable-stayed bridge has a main span of 800 m wide to cross the vessel navigation channel in and out of the Incheon Port. In waterways where ship collision is anticipated, bridges shall be designed to resist ship impact forces, and/or, adequately protected by ship impact protection (SIP) systems. For the Incheon Bridge, large diameter circular dolphins as SIP were made at 44 locations of the both side of the main span around the piers of the cable-stayed bridge span. This world's largest dolphin-type SIP system protects the bridge against the collision with 100,000 DWT tanker navigating the channel with speed of 10 knots. Diameter of the dolphin is up to 25 m. Vessel collision risk was assessed by probability based analysis with AASHTO Method-II. The annual frequency of bridge collapse through the risk analysis for 71,370 cases of the impact scenario was less than $0.5{\times}10^{-4}$ and satisfies design requirements. The dolphin is the circular sheet pile structure filled with crushed rock and closed at the top with a robust concrete cap. The structural design was performed with numerical analyses of which constitutional model was verified by the physical model experiment using the geo-centrifugal testing equipment. 3D non-linear finite element models were used to analyze the structural response and energy-dissipating capability of dolphins which were deeply embedded in the seabed. The dolphin structure secures external stability and internal stability for ordinary loads such as wave and current pressure. Considering failure mechanism, stability assessment was performed for the strength limit state and service limit state of the dolphins. The friction angle of the crushed stone as a filling material was reduced to $38^{\circ}$ considering the possibility of contracting behavior as the impact.

Recently, U-section decks have been more and more used in metro and light rail bridges as an innovative concept in bridge deck design and a successful alternative to conventional box girders because of their potential advantages. U-section may be viewed as a single vent box girder eliminating the top slab connecting the webs, with the moving vehicles travelling on the lower deck. U-section bridges thus solve many problems like limited vertical clearance underneath the bridge lowest point, besides providing built-in noise barriers. Beam theory in mechanics assumes that plane section remains plane after bending, but it was found that shearing forces produce shear deformations and the plane section does not remain plane. This phenomenon leads to distortion of the cross section. For a box or a U section, this distortion makes the central part of the slab lagging behind those parts closer to the webs and this is known as shear lag effect. A sample real-world double-track U-section metro bridge is modelled in this paper using a commercial finite element analysis program and is analysed under various loading conditions and for different geometric variations. The three-dimensional finite element analysis is used to demonstrate variations in the transverse bending moments in the deck as well as variations in the longitudinal normal stresses induced in the cross section along the U-girder's span thus capturing warping and shear lag effects which are then compared to the stresses calculated using conventional beam theory. This comparison is performed not only to locate the distortion, warping and shear lag effects typically induced in U-section bridges but also to assess the main parameters influencing them the most.
The purpose of this study was to develop a 3D mesh-type impact protection pad with excellent motion adaptability and functionality by applying 3D printing technology. The hexagonal 3D mesh, which constitutes the basic structure of the pad, comprises two types: small and large. The bridge connecting the basic units was designed as the I-type, V-type, IV-type, and VV-type. After evaluating the characteristics of the bridge, it was found that the V-type bridge had the highest flexibility and tensile elongation. The hip joint pad and knee pad were completed by combining the hexagonal 3D mesh structure with the optimal bridge design. The impact protection pad was printed using a fused deposition modeling-type 3D printer with a filament made of thermoplastic polyurethane material, and the protection pad's performance was evaluated. When an impact force of approximately 6,500N was applied to the pad, the force attenuation percentage was 78%, and when an impact force of approximately 8,000N was applied, the force attenuation percentage was 75%. Through these results, it was confirmed that the 3D-printed impact protection pad with a hexagonal 3D mesh structure connected by a V-shaped bridge developed in this study can adapt to changes in the body surface according to movement and provides excellent impact protection performance.
