  • A new technique is proposed for bridge structural damage detection based on spatial wavelet analysis of the time history obtained from vehicle body moving over the bridge, which is different from traditional detection techniques based on the bridge response. A simply-supported Bernoulli-Euler beam subjected to a moving spring-mass unit is established, with the crack in the beam simulated by modeling the cracked section as a rotational spring connecting two undamaged beam segments, and the equations of motion for the system is derived. By using the transfer matrix method, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the cracked beam are determined. The responses of the beam and the moving spring-mass unit are obtained by modal decomposition theory. The continuous wavelet transform is calculated on the displacement time histories of the sprung-mass. The case study result shows that the damage location can be accurately determined and the method is effective.

  • This study began the study by instructing enterprises to change Batch Production into U-Line. This study suggested TPS U-Line building model process and applied it to some of their product line. By connecting concerned process elements into continuous operations. Outside orders were also switched to inside operations and executed in continuous operations, thereby about 100Km of transit distance became zero Km, Production lead Time was incredibly reduced. After all, 90% of Production Lead Time, 50% of handling fault, 3/4 of workers decreased and Productivity per Person enhanced which involves improving Batch Production into Continuous Production and applies it to the real world, so that small and medium enterprises can consult this study if the company is willing to make an improvement to their product line.

  • Deflection control in tall buildings is a challenging issue. Connecting of the towers is an interesting idea for architects as well as structural engineers. In this paper, two reinforced concrete core-wall towers are connected by a truss bridge with buckling restrained braces. The buildings are 40 and 60-story. The effect of the location of the bridge is investigated. Response spectrum analysis of the linear models is used to obtain the design demands and the systems are designed according to the reliable codes. Then, nonlinear time history analysis at maximum considered earthquake is performed to assess the seismic responses of the systems subjected to far-field and near-field record sets. Fiber elements are used for the reinforced concrete walls. On average, the inter-story drift ratio demand will be minimized when the bridge is approximately located at a height equal to 0.825 times the total height of the building. Besides, because of whipping effects, maximum roof acceleration demand is approximately two times the peak ground acceleration. Plasticity extends near the base and also in major areas of the walls subjected to the seismic loads.

  • In this paper we suggest a protocol and an algorithm which connect a secure channel between a server and a client over a TCP layer. To make key exchange time the most quickly, the protocol adopts ECC Diffie Hellman(ECCDH) algorithm. And the protocol does not use Hello message for key exchanges and state changes. We also implement this protocol over an open TCP/IP program and check the secure channel connecting time over the military computer network. The suggested protocol could be practically used on the military computer network without a hardware implementation.

  • The antifuse is a semi-permanent memory device like a ROM which shows the open or short state, and a switch device connecting logic blocks selectively in FPGA. In addition, the antifuse has been used as a logic device to troubleshoot defective memory cells arising from SDRAM processing. In this study, we have fabricated ONO antifuses consisted of PIP structure. The antifuse shows a high resistance more than several G Ω in the normal state, and shows a low resistance less than 500 Ω after program. The program resistance variation according to temperature shows the very stable value of $\pm$20 Ω. At this time, its program voltage shows 6.7∼7.2 V and the program is performed within 1 second. Therefore this result shows that the PIP antifuse is a very stable and programmable logic device.

  • In a today, our concerns have been changed from a single material to relation, communication and time. The human life made up of science, technology, philosophy and art of the modern society can decide whoerness by connecting or replacing a comprehensive and many kinds. This one is exhibited in interior actively. The space of the pluralistic world is sustained by not simple and fixed relation but complex and flexible relation. And it is shown as an undecided phenomenon by effecting and modifying each other. In here, the boundary has a phase of undecided relation but at the same time it can make possibility to be abundant to infinity. The purpose of our study with considering the uncertainty of the boundary is to solve the discord of between division and unify of modern architecture space and suggest new way to be mediation and to occupy independent area.

  • In order to design a reliable machine component efficiently, it is necessary to set up the process of durability analysis using computer simulation technique. In this paper, two methods for dynamic stress calculation, which are basis of durability analysis, are reviewed. Then, a user-oriented dynamic stress analysis program is developed from these two algorithms together with a general-purpose flexible body dynamic analysis and structural analysis programs. Finally, a slider-crank mechanism which has a flexible connecting-rod is chosen to show the special characteristics of these two dynamic stress calculation methods.

  • With increasing interests in renewables, more consumers are installing an energy storage system (ESS) in their backyards, and thus, the ESS will play a critical role in the emerging smart grid. Due to mechanical properties, however its operational dynamics must be well understood before connecting the ESS to the smart grid (and eventually to an IT system). To this end, we investigate charging and discharging processes in detail. This paper, then, proposes methods for four type tests (state of charge test, conversion efficiency test, response time test, and ramp rate test) that can assess the dynamics of the ESS. The proposed methods can capture accurate delay values of mechanical processes in the ESS, and it is expected for those values to help design real-time communication systems in the smart grid involving the ESS.

  • Carbon-13 CP-MAS NMR techniques were used to investigate dynamics of new combined type liquid crystalline polymers, poly[oxy-1,4-phenyleneoxy-2-{6-(4-(4-butylphenylazo)phenoxy)hexyloxy}terephthaloyl] and poly[oxy-1,4-phenyleneoxy-2-{10-(4-(4-butylphenylazo)phenoxy)decyloxy}terephthaloyl]. Noticeable mobility change of either aromatic groups or methylene groups is not detected between 25 ℃ and 82 ℃ from 13C spinlattice relaxation time in the rotating frame (T1ρ(C)) and contact time array experiments. However, line shape analysis shows the increase of mobility of methylene carbons in poly[oxy-1,4-phenyleneoxy-2-{6-(4-(4-butylphenylazo)phenoxy)hexyloxy}terephthaloyl] at higher temperature. The dynamics of side chanis does not seem to be affected in our experimental temperature range by the length of aliphatic chain which is connecting the side chain group to the main chain.

  • Recently, IoT technology has been widely used in many industries. Also research on integrating IoT technology with IoT sensors is actively underway. One of the important challenges in IoT is to support low-latency communication. With the development of communication networks and protocols, a variety of protocols are being used, and their performance is improving. In this paper, we compare the performance and analyze the characteristics of some of the major communication protocols in IoT application, namely MQTT, HTTP, and HTTPS. IoT sensors acquired data by connecting an Arduino equipped with ESP8266 and a temperature and humidity sensor (DHT11). The server measured the performance by building servers for each protocol using AWS EC2. We analyzed the packets transmitted between the Arduino and the server during the data transmission. We measured the amount of data and transfer time. The measurement results showed that MQTT had the lowest data transmission time and data amount among the three protocols.
