겹침이음길이 및 구속 철근에 따른 헤드철근의 구조적 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Structural Performance of Headed Bars by Lap Length and Confinement Details)

  • Headed bars have used to the anchoring of the tension or compression longitudinal bars and of the shear reinforcing bars. Recently, lap splices of headed bars are attempted to the joints of precast concrete members and to the connections between old and new concrete members. Previous Michael's experimental research showed that confinement details had an effect on the lap splice performances of headed bars. In this study, the lap splice performances of headed bars(D25) with lap length and confinement details are evaluated through the experimental works. Four specimens, of which variables were the lap length of headed bar and the type of confine details, were tested for the performance evaluation on lap splice. Test results show that the lap length confinement reinforcement improve the performance of lap splice.

  • The compression toe of structural wall is designed to resist the axial compression and shear force caused by wind or earthquake. The performance of shear wall used in tall building is highly influenced by combined shear and axial force. For this reason, it is possible to result in local brittle failure because of concentrated damage in the potential plastic hinge region under severe earthquake. Thus, it is necessary to establish the lateral confinement details at the plastic hinge of shear wall so that shear wall can behave a ductile manner, The objective of this study is to evaluate the seismic performance of L-shaped walls with different confinement details. For this purpose, three wall specimens were tested experimentally and also analyzed using Nonlinear FEM package.

구속상세가 SD400 및 SD500 확대머리 이형철근의 겹침이음에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Effect of Confinement Details for Lap Splice of Headed Deformed Reinforcing Bars in Grade SD400 and SD500)

  • KCI 2012와 ACI318-11에서 확대머리 이형철근에 대한 정착길이 산정식을 제시하고 있지만 확대머리 이형철근을 이용한 겹침이음상세에 대한 규정은 없다. 또한, 정착길이 산정에 있어서 횡보강근 효과는 고려하지 않고 있다. 본연구에서는 400MPa과 500MPa 설계기준항복강도를 가지는 확대머리 이형철근에 대하여 겹침이음구간에 대한 구속상세를 평가하기 위하여 겹침이음실험을 실시하였다. 겹침이음 구간내 적용되는 구속상세는 스터럽과 Tie-down 철근이다. 실험결과, 스터럽만으로 보강된 실험체들에서 겹침이음강도 증가에 큰 영향이 없어 취성적인 파괴를 나타낸 반면에, 스터럽과 Tie-down 철근으로 보강된 실험체들은 공칭휨강도 이상의 실험휨강도와 휨거동을 나타내었다. 따라서 스터럽과 Tie-down 철근 상세는 400MPa과 500MPa의 확대머리 이형철근에 대한 겹침이음 성능향상에 기여할 수 있는 것으로 사료된다.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior assessment of circular reinforcement concrete bridge piers particularly with regard to assessing the displacement ductility curvature ductility response modification factor(R) and plastic hinge region etc, The experimental variables of bridge piers test consisted of transverse steel details amount and spacing different axial load levels etc. The test results indicated that reinforcement concrete bridge piers with confinement steel by the code specification exhibited suffcient ductile behavior and seismic performance. Also it is found that current seismic design code specification of confinement steel requirements may be revised.

  • 현 설계기준에서 제시한 단부횡보강 상세는 시공성과 생산품질이 현저히 떨어지므로 내진성능과 시공성을 확보할 수 있는 RC 구조벽체의 단부횡보강 상세 개발이 필요하다. 최근 선재 제작기술의 발전으로 다양한 선조립철근의 제작이 가능해지고 있으며 특히 다양한 연속횡보강 철근 상세의 제작이 가능하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 사각 연속횡보강 선조립철근 단부횡보강 상세를 적용한 RC 구조벽체의 모멘트-곡률 관계에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 비선형 단면해석에 의하면 사각 연속횡보강의 상세를 적용한 RC 구조벽체는 사각 연속횡보강 영역의 면적이 증가할수록 내진성능을 확보할 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과에 근거하여 사각 연속횡보강 선조립 철근의 상세 적용시, 단부횡보강 영역의 면적만큼 사각 연속횡보강 영역의 면적을 확보해야 한다.

Restoration of pre-damaged RC bridge columns using basalt FRP composites

  • This study aims to identify the effect of both longitudinal reinforcement details and damage level on making a decision of repairing pre-damaged bridge columns using basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) jackets. Two RC bridge columns with improper details of the longitudinal and/or transverse reinforcement were tested under the effect of a constant axial load and increasing lateral cyclic loading. Test results showed that the lap-splice column exhibited an inferior performance where it showed rapid degradation of strength before achieving the theoretical strength and its deformation capacity was limited; however, quick restoration is possible through a suitable rehabilitation technique. On the other hand, expensive repair or even complete replacement could be the decision for the column with the confinement failure mode. After that, a rehabilitation technique using external BFRP jacket was adopted. Performance-based design details guaranteeing the enhancement in the inelastic performance of both damaged columns were addressed and defined. Test results of the repaired columns confirmed that both reparability and the required repairing time of damage structures are dependent on the reinforcement details at the plastic hinge zone. Furthermore, lap-splice of longitudinal reinforcement could be applied as a key design-tool controlling reparability and restorability of RC structures after massive actions.

  • The bridge columns with lap-splice reinforcements in earthquake suffered a brittle bond-slip failure due to deterioration of the lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcements without developing its flexural capacity or ductility. In this case, such a brittle failure can be controlled by the seismic retrofit using FRP wrapping. The retrofitted columns using FRP wrapping showed significant improvement in seismic performance due to FRP's confinement effect. This paper presents the circumferential confinement effect of existing circular bridge pier strengthened with FRP wrapping for poor lap-splice details. The effects on the confinement of FRP wrapping, such as gap lengths between footing and FRP, fiber orientations, and thicknesses of FRP, were investigated by quasi-static experiments.

  • This paper presents the analytical results on the seismic retrofit of circular bridge columns with poor lap-splice details using FRP jacket. The as-built column suffered brittle failure due to the deterioration of lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcement without developing its flexural capacity or ductility. The retrofitted columns using FRP jacket showed significant improvement in seismic performance due to FRP's confinement effect. FRP's confinement effect is predicted by the classical elasticity solution for the laminated circular tube manufactural with several layers, and induces the flexural failure instead of bondslip failure.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior assessment of circlular-tied bridge piers, particularly with regard to assessing the displacement ductility. The experimental variables of bridge piers test consisted of transverse steel details, amount and spacing different axial load levels etc. The test results indicated that reinforcement concrete bridge piers with confinement steel by the code specification exhibited sufficient ductile behavior and seismic performance. Aldo, it is found that current seismic design code specification of confinement steel requirements may be revised.
