Dissolution rate of minerals may differ from climates configuration, but weathering rate of feldspars is generally proved to be relatively higher The result of geochemical reaction modeling indicates the acid water of pH 4.5 excluding any other variables, was 2.3 times higher than that in ordinary rain of pH 5.7. This result proved that pH is very important factor in preservation of granite cultural properties. To prevent the weathering of stone cultural properties, weathering characteristics of stones should be studied first and constitution of dry environments, using water repellent or oil coating, isolating water which cause chemical weathering reaction like hydration and oxidization should be considered. Considering the long-term reactions between granite and rain, selection of materials, which can bring neutralization and non-oxidization conditions, are very important in using cleaning agents and biological controls.

A three-dimensional parallel Euler flow solver has been developed for the simulation of unsteady rotor-fuselage interaction aerodynamics on unstructured meshes. In order to handle the relative motion between the rotor and the fuselage, the flow field was divided into two zones, a moving zone rotating with the blades and a stationary zone containing the fuselage. A sliding mesh algorithm was developed for the convection of the flow variables across the cutting boundary between the two zones. A quasi-unsteady mesh adaptation technique was adopted to enhance the spatial accuracy of the solution and to better resolve the wake. A low Mach number pre-conditioning method was implemented to relieve the numerical difficulty associated with the low-speed forward flight. Validations were made by simulating the flows around the Georgia Tech configuration and the ROBIN fuselage. It was shown that the present method is efficient and robust for the prediction of complicated unsteady rotor-fuselage aerodynamic interaction phenomena.
This study is to find out how column with hole is behaved, compared to the normal one without hole. There might be existing buildings to make holes in the reinforced concrete column. Columns are made with commercially used compressive strength $240kg/cm^{2}$, air amount 5.0%, using re-bar of diameter D13 and D10 having yielding stress $4,000kg/cm^{2}$. The specimen were cured with temperature of $21{\pm}3^{\circ}C$. All specimens of five variables and all holes are geometrically considered and configurated. D3, D5 mean diameter 3cm and 5cm respectively. H1, H2 are the number of holes. Compressive pressure was forced in accordance with KS, following $0.6{\pm}0.4N/mm^{2}$ speed. Main re-bar's were strained with almost same shape through all the specimens. Hole diameter 5cm-having specimen showed cracking around hole. strains of back and front gauges of the specimen were showed similarly. Specimen having two holes in left and right from longitudinally axis resisted 7% less than the one having hole centrically from longitudinal axis. One hole having specimen with diameter 5cm resisted only 3% less than in case of 3cm diameter hole. Hole having in left and right from longitudinal axis will be less resistant than the case longitudinally arranged. Diameter 3cm hole showed less 10% capacity than normal one without hole. Capacity loss difference between diameter 3cm and 5cm showed almost none in case that they are arranged longitudinally.
An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of transverse reinforcement in reinforced concrete tied columns subjected to monotonically increasing axial compression. Eighteen large-scale columns(260$\times$260$\times$1200 mm) were tested. Effects of main variables such as the concrete compressive strength, the tie configuration, the transverse reinforcement ratio, the tie spacing, and the spatting of the concrete cover were considered. High-strength concrete columns under concentric axial loads show extremely brittle behavior unless the columns are confined with transverse reinforcement that can provide sufficiently high lateral confinement pressure There is a consistent decrease in deformability of column specimen with increasing concrete strength. Test results were compared with the previous confinement model such as modified Kent-Park, Sheikh-Uzumeri, Mander, and Saatcioglu-Razvi model. The comparison indicates that many previous models for confined concrete overestimate or underestimate the ductility of confined concrete.
This experimental investigation was conducted to examine the behavior of eight a third scale columns made of high-strength concrete(HSC). The columns were subjected to constant axial load corresponding to target value of 30 percent of the column axial load capacity and a cyclic horizontal load-inducing reversed bending moment. The variables studied in this research are the volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement(Ps=1.58, 2.25 %), tie configuration(hoop-type, cross-type, diagonal-type) and tie yield strength(fy=5,600, 7,950 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$). Test results indicated that the flexural strength of all the columns did not exceed calculated flexural capacities based on the equivalent concrete stress block used in current design code. Columns with 42 percent higher amounts of transverse reinforcement than that required by seismic provisions of ACI 318-99 were shown ductile behavior. With axial load of 30 percent of the axial load capacity, the use of high-strength steel as transverse reinforcement may lead to equal or higher ductility than would be achieved with low-strength steel.

Disk arrays are using to enhance data trandfer rate and I/O performance in multimedia applications which need a high-performance storage device with large storage capacity and high-speed network. As performance varies with configuration and data layout scheme, disk array characteristic variables must be approrpriately deter-mined in desibning disk array archetecture for a speciffic applicatoin. In this paper,in order to design a disk array architecturte as a storage server of a small-scale VOD system,we evaluate performance of a disk array to chose the number of disks in the array, disk array cinfiguration,a degree of declustering for a given data block size of continous media file system and I/D request size through simulation.Simulation result shows that RAID level 5 with 5 disks ios a suitable candidate for the disk array architecture which privides MPEG-2 files with a rate of 6 Mbps,Moreover,we whow that stripe unit is 64 KB and a layout scheme is contigous placement.

Most of the past studies on FMS scheduling problems may be classified into two classes, namely off-line scheduling and on-line scheduling approach. The off-line scheduling methods are used mostly for FMS planning purposes and may not be useful real time control of FMSs, because it generates solutions only after a relatively long period of time. The on-line scheduling methods are used extensively for dynamic real-time control of FMSs although the performance of on-line scheduling algorithms tends vary dramatically depending on various configurations of FMS. Current study is about finding a better on-line scheduling rules for FMS operations. In this study, we propose a method to create priority functions that can be used in setting relative priorities among jobs or machines in on-line scheduling. The priority functions reflect the configuration of FMS and the user-defined objective functions. The priority functions are generated from diverse dispatching rules which may be considered a special priority functions by themselves, and used to determine the order of processing and transporting parts. Overall system of our work consists of two modules, the Priority Function Evolution Module (PFEM) and the FMS Simulation Module (FMSSM). The PFEM generates new priority functions using input variables from a terminal set and primitive functions from a function set by genetic programming. And the FMSSM evaluates each priority function by a simulation methodology. Based on these evaluated values, the PFEM creates new priority functions by using crossover, mutation operation and probabilistic selection. These processes are iteratively applied until the termination criteria are satisfied. We considered various configurations and objective functions of FMSs in our study, and we seek a workable solution rather than an optimum or near optimum solution in scheduling FMS operations in real time. To verify the viability of our approach, experimental results of our model on real FMS are included.

An electric-pump cycle, which is a propellant supply system for driving pumps of a liquid rocket engine using an electric motor, has the advantages of simple system configuration and easy control of supply flow rate and pressure. This paper investigates and analyzes the overseas research trends of the electric-pump cycle. In addition, the research and development country, performing organization, application, engine thrust, pump pressure increase, motor power, and rotation speed are summarized. Among them, the design variables of the overseas research that applied the upper-stage propulsion system with the thrust range of 0.445~2.2 kN could be used in the study of a similar electric-pump cycle in Korea.
This study proposes a system reliability analysis of rack storage facilities subjected to forklift colliding events. The proposed system reliability analysis consists of two steps: the first step is to identify dominant failure modes that most contribute to the failure of the whole rack facilities, and the second step is to evaluate the system failure probability. In the first step, dominant failure modes are identified by using a simulation-based selective searching technique where the contribution of a failure mode to the system failure is roughly estimated based on the distance from the origin in the space of the random variables. In the second step, the multi-scale system reliability method is used to compute the system reliability where the first-order reliability method (FORM) is initially used to evaluate the component failure probability (failure probability of one member), and then the probabilities of the identified failure modes and their statistical dependence are evaluated, which is called as the lower-scale reliability analysis. Since the system failure probability is comprised of the probabilities of the failure modes, a higher-scale reliability analysis is performed again based on the results of the lower-scale analyses, and the system failure probability is finally evaluated. The illustrative example demonstrates the results of the system reliability analysis of the rack storage facilities subjected to forklift impact loadings. The numerical efficiency and accuracy of the approach are compared with the Monte Carlo simulations. The results show that the proposed two-step approach is able to provide accurate reliability assessment as well as significant saving of computational time. The results of the identified failure modes additionally let us know the most-critical members and their failure sequence under the complicated configuration of the member connections.
This paper presents the design and realization of a digital PV simulator with a Push-Pull Forward (PPF) circuit based on the principle of modular hardware and configurable software. A PPF circuit is chosen as the main circuit to restrain the magnetic biasing of the core for a DC-DC converter and to reduce the spike of the turn-off voltage across every switch. Control and I/O interface based on a personal computer (PC) and multifunction data acquisition card, can conveniently achieve the data acquisition and configuration of the control algorithm and interface due to the abundant software resources of computers. In addition, the control program developed in Matlab/Simulink can conveniently construct and adjust both the models and parameters. It can also run in real-time under the external mode of Simulink by loading the modules of the Real-Time Windows Target. The mathematic models of the Push-Pull Forward circuit and the digital PV simulator are established in this paper by the state-space averaging method. The pole-zero cancellation technique is employed and then its controller parameters are systematically designed based on the performance analysis of the root loci of the closed current loop with $k_i$ and $R_L$ as variables. A fuzzy PI controller based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is applied to regulate the controller parameters self-adaptively according to the change of $R_L$ and the operating point of the PV simulator to match the controller parameters with $R_L$. The stationary and dynamic performances of the PV simulator are tested by experiments, and the experimental results show that the PV simulator has the merits of a wide effective working range, high steady-state accuracy and good dynamic performances.
