  • The data accumulated in this database will be used to develop a speaker identification system. This may also be applied towards, but not limited to, fields of phonetic studies, sociolinguistics, and language pathology. We plan to supplement the large-scale speech corpus next year, in terms of research methodology and content, to better answer the needs of diverse fields. The purpose of this study is to develop a speech corpus for standard Korean speech. For the samples to viably represent the state of spoken Korean, demographic factors were considered to modulate a balanced spread of age, gender, and dialects. Nine separate regional dialects were categorized, and five age groups were established from individuals in their 20s to 60s. A speech-sample collection protocol was developed for the purpose of this study where each speaker performs five tasks: two reading tasks, two semi-spontaneous speech tasks, and one spontaneous speech task. This particular configuration of sample data collection accommodates gathering of rich and well-balanced speech-samples across various speech types, and is expected to improve the utility of the speech corpus developed in this study. Samples from 639 individuals were collected using the protocol. Speech samples were collected also from other sources, for a combined total of samples from 1,012 individuals.

  • This study examines the behaviors and properties of discharged liquid CO2 from a long elastic pipe moving with a vessel for the oceanic CO2 sequestration by considering pipe dynamics and vessel motions. The coupled vessel-pipe dynamic analysis for a typical configuration is done in the frequency and time domain using the ORCAFLEX program. The system's characteristics, such as vessel RAOs and pipe-axial-velocity transfer function, are identified by applying a broadband white noise wave spectrum to the vessel-pipe dynamic system. The frequency shift of the vessel's RAO due to the encounter-frequency effect is also investigated through the system identification method. Additionally, the time histories of the tip-of-pipe velocities, along with the corresponding discharged droplet size and Weber numbers, are generated for two different sea states. The comparison between the stiff non-oscillating pipe with the flexible oscillating pipe shows the effect of the vessel and pipe dynamics to the discharged CO2 droplet size and Weber number. The pipe's axial-mode resonance is the leading cause of the fluctuation of the discharged CO2 properties. The significant variation of the discharged CO2 properties observed in this study shows the importance of considering the vessel-pipe motions when designing oceanic CO2 sequestration strategy, including suitable sequestration locations, discharge rate, towing speed, and sea states.

  • Quadrotor is widely used in variable application nowadays. Due to its inherent unstable characteristics, control system to augment the stability is essential for quadrotor operation. To design control system and verify its performance through simulation, accurate dynamic model is required. Quadrotor dynamic model is simply compared with conventional rotorcraft such as helicopter. However, the accurate dynamic model of quadrotor is not easy to develop because of the highly correlated aerodynamic effect of each rotor. In this paper, quadrotor dynamic model is identified from the flight data using frequency domain approach. Flight test of quadrotor is performed in closed loop configuration with stability augmentation system included. Frequency sweep input is applied in each of lateral, longitudinal, yaw and heave axis separately. The bare dynamic model is identified from the flight data of quadrotor responses and thrust measurement through Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) data. The frequency responses of identified model match well with those of flight data, and time responses of identified model for doublet input in each axis are also shown to agree with flight data.

  • In this paper, the kinematic and dynamic analyses of spatial complex kinematic chain are studied. Through the new method both using the set of identification numbers and applying the DenavitHartenberg link representation method to the spatial complex kinematic chain, the kinematic configuration of the chain is represented. Some link in the part of closed chain being fictitiously cutted, the complex kinematic chain is transformed to the branched chain. The kinematic constraint equations are derived from the constraint conditions which the cutted sections of the link have to satisfy. And the joint variables being partitioned in the independent joint variables and the dependent joint variables, the dependent variables are calculated from the independent variables by using the Newton-Raphson iterative method and the pseudoinverse matrix. The equations of motion are derived under the independent joint variables by using the principle of virtual work. Algorithms for dynamic analysis are presented and simulations are done to verify accuracy and efficiency of the algorithms.

  • Single frequency network (SFN) design based on the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) specification, a terrestrial digital television (DTV) system, normally causes a interference problem, among signals from multiple transmitters or repeaters. To solve this, the ATSC recommended practice (RP) introduces a transmitter identification (TxID) signal embedded in a signal from each transmitter or repeater. A TxID signal analyzer is then used to detect the TxID signal, and following the analysis results, a SFN design can be adjusted. This paper discusses the generation and usages of Kasami sequence, is used the TxID signal. The configuration of the TxID signal analyzer to efficiently detect TxID signal is proposed and the results of theoretical performance analysis are provided. Moreover, computer simulation and laboratory test results are provided to evaluate the performance of TxID signal analyzer and the theoretical performance analysis.

  • Images of medical treatment on PACS environment are digitized and they make saving and transmission of patient's information easy with CD format causing increase of patients transfer rate between hospital and data transmission as well. Figuring out the configuration of confining status of copied images of medical treatment with CD format and present the appropriate way of identification for personal information. 20 general hospital over 500 beds which are utilizing PACS currently. Questionnaire investigation focusing on PACS operation center and it's management people. In accordance with the law of securing personal information of public organizations, it says "Anyone who wants to see his or her information via representative he or she needs to make a letter of attorney and turn in this to the president of it's possessing facility" in the article 16. Based on the investigation of general hospital for CD copy issue status near metropolitan area, 8 out of 20, were issuing CD copy through personal identification process(the person oneself and representative) and 10 general hospital were doing by getting signature of receiptor only without identification of the person oneself and 2 general hospital confirmation process is not at all. By the law of securing personal information of public organization, article 16, confirmation process is supposed to mandate lawfully with a letter of attorney when there is any request of reading and/or copies of one's information. But in reality, there were no consistent rules on reading, the process and coverage of copy issue, rejection coverage of copy issue of CD copy in each general hospital PACS operation center. Therefore there is a big need for consolidated format which is applicable by law when the representative requests to issue of CD copy that is storing medical treatment images. By issue through this consolidated format, securing medical information of individual and systemic operation and management will be valid and effective.

  • Shipbome Automatic Identification System (AIS) will be an important manne equipment used for identification, surveillance and communication in the 21st century, which is currently being researched in developed countries. A technical scheme of AlS is proposed in this paper. The main component of the AlS is a broadcast transponder, and the core technology is a VHF radio data link with high capacity, named STDMA (Self-organized Time Division Multiple Access). The ships installed the AlS, which will automatically and periodically broadcast their positions and identities in the marine VHF channels, can be displayed on a screen of an ECDIS on board or in VTS centers. The AlS is able to support not only broadcast service but also point-to-point communication service. This paper presents the configuration, operation principle and functionality of the AlS as well as the scenario of STDMA. In addition, the standardization work of AlS in IMO is introduced in this pauer, too.

  • Evaluating the current condition of existing structures is of primary importance for economic and safety reasons. This can be addressed by Structural System Identification (SSI). A reliable static SSI depends on well-designed sensor configuration and loading cases, as well as efficient parameter estimation algorithms. Static SSI by the Measurement Error-Minimizing Observability Method (MEMOM) is a model-based deterministic static SSI method that could estimate structural parameters from static responses. In the current state of the art, this method is only applicable when structures are subjected to one loading case. This might lead to lack of information in some local regions of the structure (such as the null curvatures zones). To address this issue, the SSI by MEMOM using multiple loading cases is proposed in this work. Observability equations obtained from different loading cases are concatenated simultaneously and an optimization procedure is introduced to obtain the estimations by minimizing the discrepancy between the predicted response and the measured one. In addition, a Genetic-Algorithm (GA)-based Optimal Sensor Placement (OSP) method is proposed to tackle the OSP problem under multiple static loading cases for the very first time. In this approach, the Fisher Information Matrix (FIM)'s determinant is used as the metric of the goodness of sensor configurations. The numerical examples of a 3-span continuous bridge and a 13-story frame, are analyzed to validate the applicability of the extended SSI by MEMOM and the GA-based OSP method.

  • As collaborative design and configuration design gain increasing importance in product development, it becomes essential to exchange parametric CAD models among participants. Parametric CAD models can be represented and exchanged in the form of a macro file or a part file that contains the modeling history of a product. The modeling history of a parametric CAD model contains feature specifications and each feature has selection information that records the name of the referenced topological entities. Translating this selection information requires solving the problems of how to identify the referenced topological entities of a feature (persistent naming problem) and how to convert the selection information into the format of the receiving CAD system (naming mapping problem). The present paper introduces the problem of exchanging parametric CAD models and proposes a solution to naming mapping.
