취성재료의 소구충돌에 의한 충격손상 (I) (Impact Damage on Brittle Materials with Small Spheres (I))

  • Brittle materials are very weak for impact because of typical characteristics which happen to be easily fractured with low fracture toughness and crack sensitivity. When brittle materials are subjected to impact due to small spheres, high contact pressure is occurred to impact surface and then local damage on specimen is developed, since there are little plastic deformations due to contact pressure compared to metals. This local damage is a dangerous factor which gives rise to final fracture of structures. In this research, the crack propagation process of soda lime glass by impact of small sphere is explained and the effects of the constraint conditions of impact spheres and materials for the material damage were studied by using soda-lime glass. that is the effects for the materials and sizes of impact ball, thickness of specimen and residual strength. Especially, this research has focused on the damage behavior of ring crack, cone crack and several kinds of cracks.

Comparison of mastoid air cell volume in patients with or without a pneumatized articular tubercle

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare mastoid air cell volumes in patients with or without a pneumatized articular tubercle (PAT) on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: The CBCT images of 224 patients were retrospectively analyzed for the presence of PAT. The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine data of 30 patients with PAT and 30 individuals without PAT were transferred to 3D Doctor Software. Mastoid air cell volumes were measured using semi-automatic segmentation on axial sections. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Results: The patients with PAT and those without PAT had a mean mastoid volume of 6.31±2.86 cm3 and 3.25±1.99 cm3, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in mastoid air cell volumes between patients with and without PAT regardless of sex and mastoid air cell side (P<0.05). Conclusion: The detection of PAT on routine dental radiographic examinations might be a potential prognostic factor that could be used to detect extensive pneumatization in the temporal bone. Clinicians should be aware that there may be widespread pneumatization of mastoid air cells in patients in whom PAT is detected. Advanced imaging should be performed in these cases, and possible complications due to surgical interventions should be considered.

Nonlinear thermal post-buckling behavior of graphene platelets reinforced metal foams conical shells

  • Conical shell is a common engineering structure, which is widely used in machinery, civil and construction fields. Most of them are usually exposed to external environments, temperature is an important factor affecting its performance. If the external temperature is too high, the deformation of the conical shell will occur, leading to a decrease in stability. Therefore, studying the thermal-post buckling behavior of conical shells is of great significance. This article takes graphene platelets reinforced metal foams (GPLRMF) conical shells as the research object, and uses high-order shear deformation theory (HSDT) to study the thermal post-buckling behaviors. Based on general variational principle, the governing equation of a GPLRMF conical shell is deduced, and discretized and solved by Galerkin method to obtain the critical buckling temperature and thermal post-buckling response of conical shells under various influencing factors. Finally, the effects of cone angles, GPLs distribution types, GPLs mass fraction, porosity distribution types and porosity coefficient on the thermal post-buckling behaviors of conical shells are analyzed in detail. The results show that the cone angle has a significant impact on the nonlinear thermal stability of the conical shells.

직접모사법을 이용한 극음속 대기 유동과 측면 제트의 상호 작용 해석 (Analysis of the Interaction Between Hypersonic Free Stream and Side Jet Flow Using a DSMC Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 직접모사법을 이용하여 고 고도 희박 영역에서 로켓의 자세 제어에 필수적인 측면 제트 분사와 그에 따른 자유 흐름 유동과 측면 제트의 상호 작용에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 밀도 차가 큰 자유 흐름 유동과 제트 유동을 동시에 모사하기 위해 입자 가중치 기법을 사용하였다. 두 수직한 평판 사이의 유동 및 측면 제트 분사에 의한 상호 작용 해석을 수행하였고 그 결과를 실험치와 비교하여 프로그램을 검증하였다. 좀 더 실제적인 로켓 모델로 blunted cone cylinder 형상에 대하여 받음각을 변화시켜가며 자유 흐름 유동과 측면 제트의 상호 작용에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 표면 압력 차이의 분포를 기준으로 람다(lambda) 충격파와 후류의 영향을 토의하였다. 받음각이 있는 유동의 경우 leeward 방향으로는 제트와 자유 흐름 유동의 상호 작용이 약해지며, windward 방향으로는 상호 작용이 매우 강해지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Assessment of the efficiency of a pre- versus post-acquisition metal artifact reduction algorithm in the presence of 3 different dental implant materials using multiple CBCT settings: An in vitro study

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess artifacts generated in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of 3 types of dental implants using 3 metal artifact reduction (MAR) algorithm conditions (pre-acquisition MAR, post-acquisition MAR, and no MAR), and 2 peak kilovoltage (kVp) settings. Materials and Methods: Titanium-zirconium, titanium, and zirconium alloy implants were placed in a dry mandible. CBCT images were acquired using 84 and 90 kVp and at normal resolution for all 3 MAR conditions. The images were analyzed using ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD) to calculate the intensity of artifacts for each combination of material and settings. A 3-factor analysis of variance model with up to 3-way interactions was used to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference in the mean intensity of artifacts associated with each factor. Results: The analysis of all 3 MAR conditions showed that using no MAR resulted in substantially more severe artifacts than either of the 2 MAR algorithms for the 3 implant materials; however, there were no significant differences between pre- and post-acquisition MAR. The 90 kVp setting generated less intense artifacts on average than the 84 kVp setting. The titanium-zirconium alloy generated significantly less intense artifacts than zirconium. Titanium generated artifacts at an intermediate level relative to the other 2 implant materials, but was not statistically significantly different from either. Conclusion: This in vitro study suggests that artifacts can be minimized by using a titanium-zirconium alloy at the 90 kVp setting, with either MAR setting.

Halo CME mass estimated by synthetic CMEs based on a full ice-cream cone model

  • In this study, we suggest a new method to estimate the mass of a halo coronal mass ejection (CME) using synthetic CMEs. For this, we generate synthetic CMEs based on two assumptions: (1) the CME structure is a full ice-cream cone, (2) the CME electron density follows a power-law distribution (ρcme0r-n). The power-law exponent n is obtained by minimizing the root mean square error between the electron number density distributions of an observed CME and the corresponding synthetic CME at a position angle of the CME leading edge. By applying this methodology to 57 halo CMEs, we estimate two kinds of synthetic CME mass. One is a synthetic CME mass which considers only the observed CME region (Mcme1), the other is a synthetic CME mass which includes both the observed CME region and the occulted area larger than 4 solar radii (Mcme2). From these two cases, we derive conversion factors which are the ratio of a synthetic CME mass to an observed CME mass. The conversion factor for Mcme1 ranges from 1.4 to 3.0 and its average is 2.0. For Mcme2, the factor ranges from 1.8 to 5.0 with the average of 3.0. These results imply that the observed halo CME mass can be underestimated by about 2 times when we consider the observed CME region, and about 3 times when we consider the region including the occulted area. Interestingly these conversion factors have a very strong negative correlation with angular widths of halo CMEs.We also compare the results with the CME mass estimated from STEREO observations.

시화호 주변 연약지반 피에조콘계수 산정에 관한 통계적 분석 (Evaluation of Piezocone Factors Applicable to Soft Ground Around Siwha Lake by Statistical Analysis)

  • 국외에서 개발한 상관식이나 도표 등을 활용하여 국내 지반특성을 반영함에 있어 이를 그대로 국내지반에 적용하는 데에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 국내에 적합한 피에조콘계수 활용을 위해서는 국내 지반에 대한 시험결과를 직접적으로 이용하여 피에조콘계수를 결정할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서해안 시화호 주변에 광범위하게 분포하고 있는 연약지반을 대상으로 실내시험 및 현장시험을 수행한 결과를 피에조콘 관입시험과 비교 분석하고, 비배수전단강도와 콘 관입저항력과의 상관성 분석을 통하여 피에조콘계수를 산정하였다. 또한 산정된 결과의 신뢰성 확보를 위하여 통계분석 기법을 활용하여 연구대상 지역에 적합한 피에조콘계수를 재산정해 보았다.

20대 비만여성의 유방형태 분석 (A Study on The Obese Breast Shape of 20′s Women)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide for some basic data useful to the development of the brassieres comfortable and more suitable for obese women. The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; 1. Obese women were categorized using Rohrer index into three groups, and thereupon, their breast forms were analyzed. As a result, it was found that group 1 and 2 had similar small breasts, while group 3 had the largest size of breasts. 2. The forms of obese women's breast split, protrusion and volume, factors related with breast area and drooping, factor affecting the breast protrusion and factor defining the lower form of breast. 3. The actual breast types of obese women could be classified into cone type, protrusion type, drooping type Ⅰ and Ⅱ. The more obese a woman was, her breast tended more to droop.

분사층 반응기의 원뿔각에 따른 Jatropha Curcas L. Seed Cake의 급속열분해 특성 (Fast Pyrolysis Characteristics of Jatropha Curcas L. Seed Cake with Respect to Cone Angle of Spouted Bed Reactor)

  • 바이오매스의 급속열분해를 위하여 지난 수십 년간 다양한 형태의 반응기가 개발되었다. 급속열분해 공정의 반응기는 유동층 반응기가 많이 사용되어 왔으며, 최근에는 분사층 반응기를 이용한 바이오매스의 급속열분해 특성에 대한 연구가 다수의 연구자들에 의해 수행되고 있다. 분사층 반응기의 유동화 특성은 입자의 물리적 특성, 유체 제트의 속도, core와 annulus의 구조에 영향을 받으며, 반응기의 기하학적 구조는 분사층 내부의 core와 annulus 구조를 결정하는 주요 인자이다. 따라서 분사층 반응기의 최적설계를 위해서는 열분해 반응에 영향을 주는 인자에 대한 바이오매스의 급속열분해 특성에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 한다. 하지만 분사층 반응기의 기하학적 구조에 의한 바이오매스의 급속열분해 특성은 자세히 연구되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 분사층 반응기의 원뿔각과 반응 온도 변화에 따른 Jatropha curcas L. seed shell cake의 급속열분해 실험을 수행하여 분사층 반응기의 최적 형상과 반응 온도를 도출하였다. 실험결과, 열분해 오일의 에너지 수율은 반응 온도 $450^{\circ}C$, 분사층 반응기의 원뿔각 $44^{\circ}$에서 63.9%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 그리고 분사층 반응기 내 고체입자의 열전달과 기체상 열분해 생성물의 체류시간은 원뿔각의 영향을 받아 열분해 생성물의 수율 및 열분해 오일의 품질에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

낙엽송(落葉松)의 종자결실(種子結實)에 영향(影響)을 미치는 요인(要因) (Factors Affecting Seed Yield in Larix)

  • 4가지 낙엽송(구주낙엽송, 일본낙엽송, 시베리아낙엽송, tamarack)의 종자결실에 영향을 미치는 요인과 각각의 요인들에 의한 종자손실율을 조사하였다. 화분의 질, 수분의 실패, female gametrophyte의 퇴화 등은 종자결실에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 수정실패, 배의 퇴화 등은 조사된 4개의 수조에서 모두 주요한 종자손실요인으로 조사되었다. 조사된 요인들 중 종자수확에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것은 수분후 strobilus자체가 퇴화되는 것이었다. 조사된 4가지 교배조합중 구주낙엽송 또는 일본낙엽송을 모수로 하는 것이 종자생산측면에서는 가장 바람직한 것으로 나타났으며, tamarack을 모수로 하는 교배조합은 건전한 종자생산을 하지 못할 것으로 판단된다.
