  • Heart diseases related to conduction system can be occurred by primary defects in conduction system and by secondary to morphological heart diseases or drug toxicities. Multiple molecular defects responsible for arrhythmogenesis, including mutations in ion channels, cytoplasmic ion-channel-interacting proteins, gap-junction proteins, transcription factors and a kinase subunit, were found to be associated with the aetiology of primary cardiac conduction defects, especially inherited form. Despite a big progress in unveiling human arrhythmogenesis, conduction defects in dog has not been well studied except sudden death syndrome in German shepherd. In this review, molecular genetics in cardiac arrhythmogenesis, inherited human diseases associated with conduction defects and similar diseases in dogs will be discussed.

  • The wave nature of heat conduction has been developed in situations involving extreme thermal gradients, very short times, or temperatures near absolute zero. Under the excitation of a periodic surface heating in a finite medium, the hyperbolic and parabolic heat conduction equations and the damped wave equations in heat flux are presented for comparative analysis by using the Green's function with the integral transform technique. The Kummer transformation is also utilized to accelerate the rate of convergence of these solutions. On the other hand, the temperature distributions are obtained through integration of the energy conservation law with respect to time. For hyperbolic heat conduction, the heat flux distribution does not exist throughout all the region in a finite medium within the range of very short times(${\xi}<{\eta}_l$). It is shown that due to the thermal relaxation time, the hyperbolic heat conduction equation has thermal wave characteristics as the damped wave equation has wave nature.

  • Phase formation and oxygen ion conduction of La(Ba)Ga(Mg)O3-$\delta$ system was studied, BaLaGa3O7 and BaLaGaO4 formed as a secondary phase above the solubility limit of Ba2+ in La3+ sites. The oxygen ionic conductivity of La(Ba)Ga(Mg)O3-$\delta$ was 0.1 S/cm 80$0^{\circ}C$ The activation energy of the oxygen ion conduction was dependent on temperature. This value was higher at low temperature than at high temperature.

  • Intermediate cooling for current lead is used of thermal link in conduction cooling and cooled of itself in liquid cooling because it is put in liquid. If a existing formula for cooling load and optimal diameter-length of current lead is applied, it generate some more cooling load. Therefore, variation of thermal link height and holding depth in liquid is considered. This result is used of reducing cooling load of current lead occupying most of superconducting system load and applying liquid/conduction cooling systems.

  • Toward the practical applications, on operation of conduction-cooled HTS SMES at temperatures well below 40[K] should be investigated, in order to take advantage of a greater critical current density of HTS and considerably reduce the size and weight of the system. In order to take advantage of a greater critical current density of high temperature superconducting (HTS) and considerably reduce the size and weight of the system, conduction-cooled HTS superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) at temperatures well below 40[K] should be investigated. This work focuses on the breakdown and flashover phenomenology of dielectrics exposed in air and/or vacuum for temperatures ranging from room temperature to cryogenic temperature. Firstly, we summarize the insulation factors of the magnet for the conduction cooled HTS SMES. And Secondly a surface flashover as well as volume breakdown in air and/or vacuum with two kind insulators has been investigated. Finally, we will discuss applications for the HTS SMES including aging studies on model coils exposed in vacuum at cryogenic temperature. The commercial application of many conduction-cooled HTS magnets, however, requires refrigeration at temperatures below 40[K], in order to take advantage of a greater critical current density of HTS and reduce considerably the size and weight of the system. The magnet is driven in vacuum condition. The need to reduce the size and weight of the system has led to the consideration of the vacuum as insulating media. We are studying on the insulation factors of the magnet for HTS SMES. And we experiment the spacer configure effect in the dielectric flashover characteristics. From the results, we confirm that our research established basic information in the insulation design of the magnet.

  • The conduction-cooled HTS SMES is operated in cryogenic and high vacuum condition. Thus, Insulation design at cryogenic temperature and high vacuum is a key and an important element that should be established to accomplish miniaturization that is a big advantage of HTS SMES. However, the behaviors of insulators for cryogenic conditions in vacuum are virtually unknown. Therefore, we need active research and development of insulation concerning application of the conduction-cooled HTS SMES. Therefore, in this study, we experimented about insulation characteristic high vacuum and cryogenic similar to driving condition of SMES system. Also, investigated about insulation characteristic of suitable some materials to insulator for conduction-cooled HTS SMES. As this results, we possessed basis data for insulation materials selection and insulation design for development of 600 kJ class conduction-cooled HTS SMES.

  • In most engineering applications related with the heat conduction phenomena, a conventional Fourier heat conduction equation has been successfully applied and it has supplied quite reasonable results. However, it is well known that the Fourier heat conduction equation is failed in the application to the extremely small space and short time, in other words, a nano-scale system and a pico-second time. In this study, non-Fourier effect was evaluated in the heat conduction by considering the concept of a phase lag model. The results show the existence of a heat wave, which means that the heat is transferred with a finite speed while an infinite speed of heat transfer is assumed in the conventional Fourier heat conduction. In addition, the copper and the gold are tested to evaluate the phase lag time between the heat flux and the temperature gradient. The results show that the gold has the heat wave speed faster than that of the copper consistent with the prediction based on an actual experiment.

  • The 600kJ class high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage (HTS SMES) system is being developed by Korean Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI). The system is operated in cryogenic temperature and high vacuum condition. The SMS magnet was cooled by conduction cooling method using a Gifford-McMahon cycle cryocooler. Thus, electric insulation design at cryogenic temperature and high vacuum is a key and an important element that should be established to accomplish compact design is a big advantage of HTS SMES. This paper describes the electric insulation design, fabrication and experimental results for a mini model of conduction cooled HTS SMES.
