The current study focuses on the consistent analysis of heat transfer in multichannel volumetric solar receivers used for concentrating solar power. Changes in the properties of the absorbing material and channel dimensions are considered in an optical model based on the Monte Carlo ray-tracing method and in a one-dimensional heat transfer model that includes conduction, convection, and radiation. The optical model results show that most of the solar radiation energy is absorbed within a very small channel length of around 15 mm because of the large length-to-radius ratio. Classification of radiation losses reveals that at low absorptivity, increased reflection losses cause reduction of the receiver efficiency, notwithstanding the decrease in the emission loss. As the average temperature increases because of the large channel radius or small mass flow rate, both emission and reflection losses increase but the effect of emission losses prevails.
Purpose: The rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (RAM) flap has contributed to the efficient reconstruction of soft tissue defects. The flap has the advantage of easy dissection, minimal donor site morbidity, and the constant vascular anatomy with long pedicle. Authors used the free RAM flap to reconstruct multi-located soft tissue defects while still considering functionality and aesthetics. We present the long-term outcomes and versatility of free RAM flaps. Materials and Methods: From 1994 to 2004, all patients who underwent soft tissue reconstruction with free RAM flap were reviewed retrospectively. The site of the reconstruction, vessels of anastomosis, type of RAM flap, and outcomes, including flap success rate, hospital stay after flap transfer, conduction of secondary procedure, flap complications, and donor-site complications were analyzed. Results: Twenty-one patients underwent 24 free RAM flaps in site of breast, face, upper extremity and lower extremity. Mean follow-up period was 36.1 months (range, 3~156 months). The overall success rate was 92% with only a loss of 2 flaps. Minor complications related to transferred flaps were necrosis of 2 partial flaps, hematoma formation in 3 cases, and a wound infection in 1 case. Donor site morbidity was not observed. Debulking surgery was performed in 4 patients, and scar revision was performed in 3 patients. Conclusion: Free RAM flap is a workhorse flap for general soft-tissue reconstruction with minimal donor site morbidity with aesthetically good results. Thus, the free RAM flaps are versatile, and sturdy for any sites of soft-tissue where reconstruction could be performed.
The purposes of this study were to determine the effect of different degrees of severity of diabetic neuropathy on balance function, and to evaluate dynamic balance and functional performance in diabetes patients. Twenty-four subjects with diabetes mellitus were divided into three groups according to results of sensory nerve conduction study. All subjects were evaluated for dynamic balance which was measured using computerized dynamic posturography, and functional performance which was measured using the Berg balance scale. One-way analysis of variance was used to determine whether there were any statistically differences of dynamic balance function and functional performance among the three groups. The Spearrnan's rank correlation was used to determine statistical significance between dynamic balance and age. The results were as follows: 1. Dynamic balance measured using computerized dynamic posturography was significantly lower in the no response group than in the normal amplitude group (p<0.05). 2. Functional performance tested by the Berg balance scale was not statistically different among the three groups (p>0.05). 3. an inverse relationship was found between dynamic balance measured using computerized dynamic posturography and age (r=-0.68, p<0.05). These results suggest that patients with severe diabetic neuropathy have loss of dynamic balance function. Therefore, patients with severe diabetic neuropathy need to have their balance evaluated and receive appropriate education.
This paper was studied on the effects of Ca-La-Nb substitution and Zr/Ti ratio variation to Pb(Zr, Ti)$O_3$ system on structural, electrical, optical and sound level characteristics in order to develope the piezoelectric and electrooptic ceramic devices. Also the specimens were prepared by the two stage sintering technique. The molecular formular was X($CaO{\cdot}1/4La_{2}O_{3}{\cdot}1/4Nb_{2}O_{5}){\cdot}(1-X)Pb(Zr_{Y}Ti_{1-Y})O_{3}$(x=100X, y=100Y), and the variation of x was $6{\sim}12$, y was 60${\sim}$49 and second stage sintering time was 20${\sim}$40 hours. The experimental results obtained from this study are as follows : 1. The density was decreased, the grain size was increased according to increase of Ca-La-Nb substitution. 2. The crystal structure was rhombohedral in composition 6/60/40, and the crystal structure was tetragonal and cubic according to increase of Ca-La-Nb substitution. 3. The Ca substitution of PZT system enhanced the sintering property. The Pb site vacancy resulting from the substitution of La-Nb increased the dielectrical constant, the piezoelectric charge constant, the dielectric loss and decreased the coercive field. 4. The resistivity of PZT system which has the P type conduction mechanism increased according to substitution of La-Nb because of the substituent acting as donor. 5. The PZT ceramics varied from ferroelectric substance according to increase of Ca-La-Nb substituent. The coercive field and saturation remanent polarization decreased, and at last straight line according to increase of La-Nb substitution. 6. The amount of Ca-La-Nb substitution to improve the light transmittance of speciment was 10 mol%, the Zr/Ti ratio was 49/51, and the second stage sintering time was 40 hours. 7. According to Ca-La-Nb substitution, the specimens was to be transparent. The 7.5/51/49 specimen was suitable for transparent sound vibrator because it had 58% light transmittance (thick 0.2[mm], wave length 700[mm]) and 48% electromechanical coupling factor.

A BLDC motor with higher number of phases has several advantages, compared to the conventional three-phase BLDC motors. It can reduce the commutation torque ripple and the iron loss without increasing the voltage per phase and increase the reliability and power density. Higher number of phases increase the torque-per-ampere ratio for the same machine volume and output power by widening the electrical conduction period. In this paper, the proposed seven-phase BLDC motor drive system is made into several functional modular blocks, so that it can be easily extended to other ac motor applications: back-EMF block, hysteresis current control block, pwm inverter block, phase current block, and speed/torque control block. Also in a system of BLDC motor drive, the PI controller has been widely used in the speed controller because of the simple implementation. To obtain a good speed response in a general drive system using the PI controller, the high bandwidth of a controller is established. therefore, in this paper, a Fuzzy controller is applied to the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system in order to improve the speed control performance. The Fuzzy controller is compared with a conventional PI controller through the experiment with respect to speed dynamic responses. These experimental results show that the Fuzzy controller of the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system is superior over the conventional PI controller. The algorithm using the Fuzzy controller can improve a comfortable ride in the field of high performance 7-phase BLDC motor drive applications.
The high efficiency power management IC(PMIC) with DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold voltage MOSFET) switching device and DTMOS Error Amplifier is presented in this paper. PMIC is controlled with PWM control method in order to have high power efficiency at high current level. Dynamic Threshold voltage CMOS(DT-CMOS) with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The control parts in Buck converter, that is, PWM control circuits consist of a saw-tooth generator, a band-gap reference circuit, an DT-CMOS error amplifier and a comparator circuit as a block. the proposed DT-CMOS Error Amplifier has 72dB DC gain and 83.5deg phase margin. also Error Amplifier that use DTMOS more than CMOS showed power consumption decrease of about 30%. DC-DC converter, based on Voltage-mode PWM control circuits and low on-resistance switching device is achieved the high efficiency near 96% at 100mA output current. And DC-DC converter is designed with Low Drop Out regulator(LDO regulator) in stand-by mode which fewer than 1mA for high efficiency.
In this paper, a buck-boost converter using three DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold Voltage MOSFET) switching devices is presented. The efficiency of the proposed converter is higher than that of conventional buck-boost converter. DTMOS with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The threshold voltage of DTMOS drops as the gate voltage increases, resulting in a much higher current handling capability than standard MOSFET. In order to improve the power efficiency at the high current level, the proposed converter is controlled with PWM(pulse width modulation) method. The converter has maximum output current 300mA, input voltage 3.3V, output voltage from 700mV to 12V, 1.2MHz oscillation frequency, and maximum efficiency 90%. Moreover, the LDO(low drop-out) is designed to increase the converting efficiency at the standby mode below 1mA.
In this paper, a new conceptual circuit configuration of a 3-phase voltage source, soft switching AC-DC-AC converter using an IGBT module, which has one ARCPL circuit and one ARDCL circuit, is presented. In actuality, the ARCPL circuit is applied in the 3-phase voltage source rectifier side, and the ARDCL circuit is in the inverter side. And more, each power semiconductor device has a novel clamp snubber circuit, which can save the power semiconductor device from voltage and current across each power device. The proposed soft switching circuits have only two active power semiconductor devices. These ARCPL and ARDCL circuits consist of fewer parts than the conventional soft switching circuit. Furthermore, the proposed 3-phase voltage source soft switching AC-DC-AC power conversion system needs no additional sensor for complete soft switching as compared with the conventional 3-phase voltage source AC-DC-AC power conversion system. In addition to this, these soft switching circuits operate only once in one sampling term. Therefore, the power conversion efficiency of the proposed AC-DC-AC converter system will get higher than a conventional soft switching converter system because of the reduced ARCPL and ARDCL circuit losses. The operation timing and terms for ARDCL and ARCPL circuits are calculated and controlled by the smoothing DC capacitor voltage and the output AC current. Using this control, the loss of the soft switching circuits are reduced owing to reduced resonant inductor current in ARCPL and ARDCL circuits as compared with the conventional controlled soft switching power conversion system. The operating performances of proposed soft switching AC-DC-AC converter treated here are evaluated on the basis of experimental results in a 50kVA setup in this paper. As a result of experiment on the 50kVA system, it was confirmed that the proposed circuit could reduce conduction noise below 10 MHz and improve the conversion efficiency from 88. 5% to 90.5%, when compared with the hard switching circuit.

We report the performance of an open-frame type low-voltage high-current DC-DC converter module developed using an active clamp forward converter circuit and single ended rectifier. The converter module is designed with the specifications of an 3.3V output voltage, 30A output current, 100W output power and 36-75V input voltage. The synchronous rectifier is used to reduce the conduction loss at high current level and constant current control using precision PCB resistance is adapted to enhance the over current protection function in the system configuration. A prototype converter module is successfully implemented within 8mm height and quarter brick size (58x37mm) and recorded an $95W/in^3$ power density, 90.6$\%$ efficiency and 0.07$\%$ voltage regulation for the entire Input voltage range, thereby demonstrating its application potentials to future telecommunication electronics.

Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) was not flooded seawater and flooded seawater & freshwater for 5 days, respectively, and these samples are referred to as BSF(before seawater flooding) and ASFF(after seawater & freshwater flooding), respectively. The apparent density, dissipation factor, relative permittivity, melting temperature, dielectric breakdown time and increased time of applied voltage are higher than those of BSF, but the insulating resistance, dielectric strength, percent elongation and glass transition temperature of ASFF are lower than those of BSF. The differential temperature of those is $0.026{\sim}0.028(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF, respectively, and the differential temperature of those is $0.013{\sim}0.037(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to BSF, respectively. In the case AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF as well as BSF, the variations in temperature of AC voltage are higher than those of DC voltage. It is investigated that dielectric loss due to dissipation factor ($tan{\delta}$) is related to electric dipole conduction current. It is certain that the ionic (electron or hole) leakage current was increased by conducting ions such as $Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $Mg^{2+}$, $SO_4^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$ and $K^+$, those are related to cured atoms of O and S that relatively increased after seawater flooding.
