  • This paper describes the experimental thermal performance results of four experimental model buildings insulated differently. For the purpose of examining the thermal characteristics of external walls and indoor thermal conditions, four experimental model buildings are constructed as externally insulated, internally insulated, non-insulated &light-weight curtain wall types with different K-values and heat capacities, respectively.
    Through the measurements of temperatures at various points and solar insolation, the effects of insulation and heat capacities are evaluated, and the evaluated effects of each experimental model buildings are compared. Hence, the characteristics of temperature profiles, time-lag effects and decrement factors are discovered.

  • In the present study, the effects of film Reynolds number (60∼200) and volumetric content of non-absorbable gases (0∼10%) in water vapor on the absorption process of aqueous LiBr solution were investigated experimentally. The formation of solution film on the horizontal tubes of six rows were observed to be complete for Re>100. Transition film Reynolds number were found to exist above which the Nusselt number and Schmidt number diminishes with solution flow rate. As the concentration of non-absorbable gases increased, mass transfer rate decreased more seriously than heat transfer rate did. The degradation effects of non-absorbable gases seemed to be significant especially when small amount of non-absorbable gases were introduced to the pure water vapor.

  • The effects of longitudinal heat conduction on the performance of heat transfer surfaces are investigated by using a single-blow method. In the transient testing method for determining the heat transfer characteristics, exponential inlet temperature variations are made by using screen-mesh heater with small time constant and low frontal velocities of the test section, and the experimentally determined inlet temperature profile is used as the inlet fluid temperature condition. The effects of longitudinal heat conduction are negligible only if $\gamma^\act<0.05\;and \;N_{tu}\le3$ and should be considered if $N_{tu}\le3$ The test results ate compared with the existing theoretical and experimental data and the validity of this technique is confirmed by the good agreement.

  • A field experiment was carried out to determine the effects of conditioning methods and tedding frequency on the drying rate and quality of Italian ryegrass hay. Italian ryegrass was cut with three types of mower conditioners (un conditioned, impeller, roller) and tedded with rake-tedder once or twice daily during field curing. The field drying rate of Italian ryegrass hay was the highest in roller conditioner. Conditioning treatment shorten the date from 1 to 1.5 compare with unconditioned. Drying rate of Italian ryegrass plant had been affected by tedding frequency within 3 days after it was cut, but it was ineffective after 3 days. There is no effect on acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) but effect crude protein (CP) and relative feed value (RFV) by conditioning treatment in nutritive value of Italian ryegrass hay.

  • AC induction motors have been widely used for fan motor of the air conditioner indoor unit. Noise of these AC induction motors is usually caused by the coupling effects of structural and electrical systems. The rotating torque and the noise from AC induction motor were discussed in this paper,. First, the modification of motor was carried out in order to reduce the unbalance magneto motive force between main and sub winding. Second, structural modification based on normal mode analysis and modal testing was carried out so that the fan motor does not have the natural frequencies near the 2f-line frequency. Numerical modifications through these two processes were verified by experiments, which showed that the sound pressure level at 2f-line frequency of the modified system became about 25dB less than that of conventional one.

  • This study presented the feasibility of R152a refrigerant as an alternative of R134a which is used in the current automobile air conditioning system. The performance of air conditioning system installed in the actual vehicle was tested using the climate wind tunnel. The experiments were conducted at various refrigerant charge quantities and various driving conditions such as city traffic, highway traffic and parking. Same components and lubricant were used for both R134a and R152a system. The effects of air set values of thermal expansion valve on the performance were also investigated. In case of the R152a system, refrigerant charge quantity can be reduced about 20%, better performance and superior compressor durability is expected due to the lower discharge pressure compared to the R134a system.

  • [ $50/50 vol\%$ ] LSM-YSZ의 양극은 콜로이드 증착법에 의해 YSZ 전해질상에 증착하였다. 양극 특성은 주사전자현미경과 임피던스 분석기에 의해 고찰하였다. LSM-YSZ양극의 제조 조건에 따른 영향을 관찰하였으며, 그 영향에 대한 개선책이 고체산화물 연료전지의 성능향상을 위해 제시되었다. 임피던스에 대한 온도, YSZ전해질로의 양극 접착에 대한 표면 오염, 사용하는 Pt 페이스트, 미세구조에 대한 곡표면에 가해진 연무질 분사기술과 셀과 셀의 변동성에 대한 영향들은 각각 $900^{\circ}C$ 측정, YSZ표면 연마, 일단의 Pt페이스트 사용, 평편한 YSZ판의 사용과 일관된 절차와 기술의 사용에 의해 해결되었다. 이때 재현성 있는 임피던스 스펙트럼들이 향상된 셀을 사용함으로써 얻어졌고, $900^{\circ}C$에서 (공기)LSM-YSZ/YSZ/LSM-YSZ(공기) 셀에 대해 측정된 전형적인 임피던스 스펙트럼들은 2개의 불완전한 호로 구성되었다. 또한 LSM-YSZ 양극의 임피던스 특성은 촉매층, 양극 조성, 인가 전류 등과 같은 실험 조건들에 의해서도 영향을 받았다.

Effects of Conditioners (Standard, Long-Term and Expander) on Pellet Quality and Growth Performance in Nursery and Finishing Pigs

  • A series of experiments were conducted to determine the effects of standard (ST), long-term (LT), and expander (EX) conditioners on nutritional value of phase-three nursery and finishing swine diets. In Exp. 1, 180 pigs (average initial BW of 11.7 kg) were fed com-soybean meal based diets (1.3% lysine) during a 28 d growth assay. Gain/feed was improved (p<0.004) with pelleting and pellet durability index (PDI) increased with degree of conditioning (LT>ST). However, there was no advantage for LT vs ST conditioning in rate or efficiency of gain (p>0.5). In Exp. 2, 180 pigs (average initial BW of 10.4 kg) were fed con-soybean meal based diets (0.9% lysine) during a 28 d growth assay, Pelleted diets tended to support greater ADG (p<0.08) and gain/feed (p<0.002) with no marked advantage from EX vs ST conditioning. In Exp 3, a total of 70 barrows (average initial BW of 54 kg) was used in a growth assay to determine the effects of feeding a com-soybean meal based diet processed with a standard (ST) steam conditioner, a long-term (LT) steam conditioner, and an expander (EX) conditioner. The conditioned diets were fed as mash (M) or pellets (P) to give a $2{\times}3$ factorial plus a meal control. PDI increased with degree of conditioning (EX>LT>ST). There was a trend (p<0.07) for greater ADG in pigs fed diets that had been thermally conditioned. Also, there was a general advantage in gain/feed with pelleting (p<0.04), but this advantage was pronounced only with standard conditioning. Indeed, the greatest gain/feed was observed for pigs fed the expander treatments (p<0.03) and the expander mash was used as efficiently as the expander pellets. There was no difference in backfat thickness among pigs fed the treatments (p>0.3). but the more extreme the processing technique. the greater the incidence and severity of stomach lesions (p<0.04). These results suggest maximum rate and efficiency of growth with pelleting after standard steam conditioning or simply feeding an expanded mash.

공기조화용 액적방열기의 열전달특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of Liquid Droplet Radiator for Air Conditioning)

  • In general existing air conditioning devices, which are carried out by convection heat transfer, are very popular compared with the radiation type air conditioning devices. But perconal convection tpe air conditioning units are unuseful air conditioning type because it handles amount of surrounded air to meet the temperature and humidity. In this view, this study is intended to develope personal dir conditioning units using a radiation type radiator. Liquid Droplet Radiator(L.P.R.) radiates the energy by means of thermal radiation. Radiative energy from L.P.R. is the infrared rays which heat the objects without lose of energy. It is a desirable heating method for the local area within the large room. In this study, the analysis uses the Monte Carlo methd to predict the temperature distribution in the droplet sheet and the net heat flux from the L.D.R.. And for this study and experiment was carried out to analyse the radiative and convective heat transfer characteristics in the L.D.R.. And the experiment was investigated the effects of inlet temperature, feed rate, optical thickness and droplet diameter on heat transfer characteristics of L.D.R.. The obtained results from the numerical and experimental studies of L.D.R. were as follows ; (1) The heat flux of L.D.R. was effected by extinction coefficient of droplet sheet, optical thickness and droplet temperature, surface area and emissivity of the droplet. And it was increased with the temperature, feed rate and optical thickness, on the other hand decreased with increasing of droplet diameter. (2) The experimental results for heat flux was ecalucted below 20% than that of the numerical solution by Monte Carlo method, but the tendency of the variation shows relatively good agreement.

전열관 형상과 냉동기유 효과를 고려한 공조기기의 성능예측 (Effects of Oil and Internally Finned Tubes on the Performance of the Air-Conditioning Unit)

  • Computer simulation model for predicting more accurately the heat transfer performance of the evaporator and condenser which have significantly affected on the performance of air-conditioner has been suggested. In this model oil and micro-fin tube used in a actual unit are considered to simulate the more realistic case. The effects of oil and micro-fin tube on the performance of an air-conditioner have been investigated. It is found that the present model requires higher pressure than the existing model due to the characteristics of the tube considered. However, it turns out that the present model is very close to an actual cycle. As the amount of oil inside the tube increases, condensation heat transfer coefficient shows a linear decrease irrespective of a kind of oil, while evaporation heat transfer coefficient increases slightly in the oil with low viscosity and decreases exponentially in the oil with high viscosity. Pressure drop in both evaporator and condenser increases linearly irrespective of a kind of oil. It is also found that the effect of the variation of oil concentration on the magnitude of two-phase region is negligible.
