신개념 FRP-콘크리트 합성 바닥판의 거동 특성 고찰 (A Study on the Behavior Characteristics of a New-Type FRP-Concrete Composite Deck)

  • A new-type of FRP-concrete composite bridge deck system is proposed and its behaviors are experimentally studied. The new-typedeck consists of FRP as a permanent form and main tension resisting member and concrete as a compression resisting member. A suitable bonding method such as silica coating is applied to the interface between FRP and concrete to ensure composite behavior. The proposed deck system uses the box-shape FRP member, while a typical FRP-concrete composite deck uses the I-shape FRP member. Theproposed deck system has inherent advantages of a FRP-concrete composite deck like corrosion free and easy construction. The new-type deck shows the equal performances compared to a previous one, and has the advantage of reducing self-weight. In this study, the static tests on 3-span FRP-concrete decks in full scale are carried out, so that load-displacement relation, stress distribution, failure mode and design criteria are analyzed. The test results show that the deflection design criterion (L/800, L: span length) is satisfied at the service load state. No concrete tensile crack occurs in the negative moment region above the main girder, regardless of no tensile reinforcement at upper concrete portion.

  • In this paper, performance verification of connection between bridge rail and FRP decks are performed by static test. Also, the effect of flexible bridge rail failure to behavior of FRP deck are examined. Commercial products of flexible bridge rail are applied to test specimen, and 6 types of FRP deck-to-bridge rail connection system are considered. By the test results, 6 types of connection system by the connection method have similar structural capacity and have enough safety margin. Therefore, it is determined that 6 kinds of bridge rail considered in this study can be applied to bridge effectively by the cases of bridge field condition.

콘크리트 교면포장의 자기균열치유 특성에 대한 검토 연구 (A Study on Crack Self-Healing of Concrete Overlay for Bridge Decks)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to verify the property of self-healing, and to propose an appropriate duration for wet curing of bridge deck concrete overlays. METHODS : In this study, reinforced bars were inserted into concrete molds in order to prevent brittle fracture and induced cracks in the concrete resulting from indirect tension mode. The induced time of concrete cracking was 3 to 7 days, following which the concrete specimens were cured in water. The resulting concrete crack width was measured using image analysis equipment. Additionally, the self-healing tests were performed using the following three mixtures: OPC, SFC, and LMC. RESULTS : Concrete mixtures with crack widths of $150{\mu}m$ or lower were completely healed by Day 28. Hydrates of crack fills were found to be the calcium carbonate. CONCLUSIONS : The cement-based mixtures exhibit properties of self-healing. Considering these properties, it is necessary to increase the curing duration of concrete overlays for bridge decks.

교면포장용 폴리설파이드 에폭시재료의 실내물성 평가 (Laboratory Evaluation of Polysulfide Epoxy Overlay Material for Bridge Deck)

  • 본 논문은 에폭시 계열의 폴리머 콘크리트 교면포장 공법의 국내 적용 가능성을 검토하기 위하여 교면포장용 폴리설파이드 에폭시 재료에 대한 물리 역학적 특성을 평가하기 위하여 수행하였다. 강도특성을 평가하기 위하여 압축강도, 휨강도, 접착강도 시험을 수행하였으며 내구특성 평가를 위하여 염소이온침투시험, 동결융해저항성시험, 자외선영향 평가를 실시하였다. 시험결과 압축강도, 휨강도, 접착강도 등은 미국콘크리트협회에서 제시하는 기준을 만족하는 것으로 평가되었다. 그러나 다양한 시험온도에서의 강도 시험결과에서 에폭시 재료가 온도 의존성이 큰 것으로 나타나 향후 국내 적용시 이에 대한 고려가 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 휨강도 시험을 통한 처짐에 대한 추종성은 기존 아스팔트 교면포장에 비해 우수한 것으로 평가되었다. 또한 염소이온침투 저항성, 동결융해 저항성 등에 대해서도 우수한 성질을 가진 것으로 평가되었다. 에폭시 슬러리 혼합물에 대한 자외선 영향 평가에서는 강도 증가와 파괴시 변형률 감소가 나타났으나 자외선 노출 후에도 기존 아크릴계 폴리머 콘크리트보다 처짐에 대한 추종성이 양호한 것으로 평가되었다. 따라서 폴리설파이드 에폭시 재료가 교면포장 공법으로 사용하기에 적절한 물리적 특성을 가지고 있다고 판단된다.

  • In recent years, the deterioration of reinforced concrete structures has become a serious problem in civil engineering fields. This situation is mainly due to corrosion of steel reinforcing bars embedded in concrete. Recently, there has been a greatly increased demand for the use of FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) in civil engineering field due to their superior mechanical and physical properties. This paper presents an experimental study on the behavior of concrete bridge deck reinforced with FRP Box, FRP Plate, and FRP Re-bar. In tlIe study, mechanical properties of FRP Box, FRP Plate, GFRP Re-bar, and CFRP Grid have been investigated. Full scale one-way deck slab was tested under four point lateral load (equivalent to actual wheel load of DB-24 including impact). Load-deflection and load-strain data were collected through LVDT's and strain gages attached to the specimen.

  • GFRP 보강근의 인장강도 및 부착성능 등은 철근과 다르기 때문에 GFRP 보강근을 콘크리트 구조물에 적용하기 위해서는 GFRP 보강근으로 보강된 콘크리트 부재의 거동에 관한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. GFRP는 높은 비강도, 경량성, 비부식성 등의 장점을 가지고 있으나 탄성계수가 철근보다 작아 상대적으로 큰 처짐이 발생하는 단점이 있다. 교량 바닥판은 아칭효과 등에 의해 휨성능이 증가하므로 FRP 보강근을 우선 적용할 수 있는 대상 중 하나이다. 본 논문은 국내에서 개발된 철근 대체재용 GFRP 보강근의 콘크리트 구조물로의 적용 가능성을 관찰하기 위한 실험연구에 관한 것이다. 대상 실험체는 폭과 길이가 3,000 mm, 4,000 mm이고 두께가 240 mm인 실제 크기의 콘크리트 바닥판이다. 실험변수는 보강근 종류(철근, GFRP 보강근)와 보강비로 총 3개의 바닥판을 제작하였다. 정적실험을 수행하였으며 DB-24 하중등급의 축하중을 모사한 재하면적을 가진 직사각형 강재로 바닥판이 파괴될 때까지 집중하중을 가하였다. 철근 보강 바닥판과 GFRP 보강 바닥판의 거동차이를 최대성능, 처짐 및 균열 거동 등에 대해 비교 검토하였다.

Study of the design and mechanical performance of a GFRP-concrete composite deck

  • A GFRP-concrete composite bridge deck is presented in this paper. This composite deck is composed of concrete and a GFRP plate and is connected by GFRP perfobond (PBL) shear connectors with penetrating GFRP rebar. There are many outstanding advantages in mechanical behavior, corrosion resistance and durability of this composite deck over conventional reinforced concrete decks. To analyze the shear and flexural performance of this GFRP-concrete composite deck, a static loading experiment was carried out on seven specimens. The failure modes, strain development and ultimate bearing capacity were thoroughly examined. Based on elastic theory and strain-based theory, calculation methods for shear and flexural capacity were put forward and revised. The comparison of tested and theoretical capacity results showed that the proposed methods could effectively predict both the flexural and shear capacity of this composite deck. The ACI 440 methods were relatively conservative in predicting flexural capacity and excessively conservative in predicting shear capacity of this composite deck. The analysis of mechanical behavior and the design method can be used for the design of this composite deck and provides a significant foundation for further research.

Development of non-destructive method of detecting steel bars corrosion in bridge decks

  • One of the most common defects in reinforced concrete bridge decks is corrosion of steel reinforcing bars. This invisible defect reduces the deck stiffness and affects the bridge's serviceability. Regular monitoring of the bridge is required to detect and control this type of damage and in turn, minimize repair costs. Because the corrosion is hidden within the deck, this type of damage cannot be easily detected by visual inspection and therefore, an alternative damage detection technique is required. This research develops a non-destructive method for detecting reinforcing bar corrosion. Experimental modal analysis, as a non-destructive testing technique, and finite element (FE) model updating are used in this method. The location and size of corrosion in the reinforcing bars is predicted by creating a finite element model of bridge deck and updating the model characteristics to match the experimental results. The practicality and applicability of the proposed method were evaluated by applying the new technique to a two spans bridge for monitoring steel bar corrosion. It was shown that the proposed method can predict the location and size of reinforcing bars corrosion with reasonable accuracy.

성능향상된 교량 바닥판의 확률론적 해석 및 수명연장 분석 (Analysis of Probability and Extended Life Cycle of Strengthened Bridge Deck)

  • 최근들어 노후화된 교량의 증가에 따라 바닥판의 보강효과에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있으나 대부분의 연구는 실험실 수준에 국한되어 있으며, 구조물의 피로거동은 이동하중이 아닌 고정반복하중에 의한 연구가 집중적으로 시행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이동하중의 영향을 반영하기 위하여 국내에서 실측된 축하중으로 활하중 모델을 제시하였다. 확률론적 해석과 신뢰성 해석을 적용하여 탄소섬유쉬트와 격자형 탄소섬유로 성능향상된 바닥판의 보강효과 및 연장수명을 예측한 결과 성능향상 된 설계 2등급의 교량바닥판은 일반적인 증가 차량하중에 대하여 사용기간동안 충분한 내하력뿐만 아니라 충분한 피로거항성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다.
