Numerical technique for chloride ingress with cover concrete property and time effect

  • Durability problems initiated from steel corrosion are unseen but critical issues, so that many researches are focused on chloride penetration evaluation. Even if RC (Reinforced Concrete) structures are exposed to normal environment, chloride ingress varies with concrete surface conditions and exposed period. This paper presents an analysis technique for chloride behavior evaluation considering time effect on diffusion and surface conditions assumed as double-layered system. For evaluation of deteriorated surface condition, field investigation was performed for concrete pavement exposed to deicing agent for 18 years. In order to consider enhanced surface concrete, chloride profiles in surface-impregnated concretes exposed to chloride attack for 2 years from previous research were investigated. Through reverse analysis, effectively deteriorated/enhanced depth of surface and the related reduced/enlarged diffusion coefficient in the depth are simulated. The proposed analysis technique was evaluated to handle the chloride behavior more accurately considering changes of chloride ingress within surface layer and decreased diffusion coefficient with time. For the concrete surface exposed to deicing agent, the deteriorated depth and enlarged diffusion coefficient are evaluated to be 12.5~15.0 mm and 200% increasing diffusion coefficient, respectively. The results in concrete containing enhanced cover show 10.0~12.5 mm of impregnated depth and 85% reduction of chloride diffusion in tidal and submerged conditions.

콘크리트 표면절삭 장비의 품질관리를 위한 머신비전 알고리즘 개발 (A Study of the Machine Vision Algorithm for Quality Control of Concrete Surface Grinding Equipment)

  • 콘크리트 표면절삭 작업은 콘크리트 표면의 평탄성 및 부착성을 필요로 하는 공사에서 빈번히 사용되고 있으나 작업형태가 노동집약적이며, 유해한 작업환경을 보유하고 있다. 또한 장비를 다루는 기능공의 숙련도에 따라 생산성 및 절삭품질의 편차가 큰 경향이 있다. 그러므로 주변 환경오염 방지와 장비 조종자가 위험에 노출되지 않도록 하기 위한 원격조종 콘크리트 표면절삭 장비 개발이 요구된다. 그러나 원격 조종 시스템에서 조종자가 절삭면의 품질을 측정하기 난해하고 품질에 대한 객관적인 판단을 내리기가 어려우므로, 본 연구에서는 머신비젼시스템(Machine Vision System)을 적용하여 네트워크 카메라로 촬영한 절삭면의 이미지를 디지털 영상처리(Image Processing)과정을 거쳐 그 결과를 그래픽 MMI(Man-Machine Interface) 프로그램에 표현함으로써 품질관리 시스템을 구축하였다. 머신비전 알고리즘은 콘크리트 절삭면의 디지털 영상처리 알고리즘을 의미하며 본 논문에서 제안된 알고리즘을 적용하여 콘크리트 절삭면의 객관적인 품질관리 기준을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The traffic noise from automobiles have been causing so serious problems in urban areas that the study and solutions to reduce noise and air pollution have been required. In general, Portland cement concrete(PCC) pavements have the advantage of durability and superior surface friction when compared to most dense-graded asphalt. However, data collected to date generally show PCC pavements to create more noise than asphaltic surfaces. Therefore, recent research has shown some new concrete pavement textures to be worth further examination. Exposed Aggregate Pavements have also been evaluated for noise impacts. This PCC surface is accomplished by brushing the surface of the plastic concrete to expose the aggregate, increasing the macro texture. In this study, in order to manufacture Aggregate Exposed Concrete for low noise pavements, we considered the effects of retarder agents according to dosage and curing conditions. So we tried to find out relationship between textures of surface and effects of retarder.

  • We examined the silicate-based material to develop the surface-treatment agent, which would be used to restore performance of the deteriorated concrete and to inhibit corrosion of the reinforcing bar. As a part of the study, we carried out experiments of the penetration and strengthening properties of concrete treated by the considering agent. The variables of experiment, were the type of silicates, the ratio of distilled water-silicate, the usage of surface-strengthening material, and the usage of biochemical material. The penetrating ability of concrete is assessed by viscosity and surface tension. Also assessments of strengthening effects of concrete are performed on compressive strength, absorption, and water permeability tests.

도로구조물 적용을 위한 광촉매 콘크리트의 질소산화물(NOx) 제거효율 평가 (Evaluation of NOx Removal Efficiency of Photocatalytic Concrete for Road Structure)

  • PURPOSES : In areas of high traffic volume, such as expressway across large cities, the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted into the atmosphere as air pollution can be significant since NOx gases are the major cause of smog and acid rain. Recently, the importance of NOx removal has arisen in the world. Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$), that is one of photocatalytic reaction material, is very efficient for removing NOx. The NOx removing mechanism of $TiO_2$ is the reaction of solar photocatalysis. Therefore, $TiO_2$ in road structure concrete need to be contacted with ultraviolet rays (UV) to be activated. In general, $TiO_2$ concretes are produced by replacement of $TiO_2$ as a part of concrete binder. However, considerable portion of $TiO_2$ in concrete cannot contact with the pollutant in the air and UV. Therefore, $TiO_2$ penetration method using the surface penetration agents is attempted as an alternative in order to locate $TiO_2$ to the surface of concrete structure. METHODS : This study aimed to evaluate the NOx removal efficiency of photocatalytic concrete due to various $TiO_2$ application method such as mix with $TiO_2$, surface spray($TiO_2$ penetration method) on hardened concrete and fresh concrete using surface penetration agents. The NOx removal efficiency of $TiO_2$ concrete was confirmed by NOx Analyzing System based on the specification of ISO 22197-1. RESULTS : The NOx removal efficiency of mix with $TiO_2$ increased from 11 to 25% with increasing of replacement ratio from 3 to 7%. In case of surface spray on hardened concrete, the NOx removal efficiency was about 50% due to application amount of $TiO_2$ with surface penetration agents as 300, 500 and 700g/m2. The NOx removal efficiency of surface spray on fresh concrete due to all experimental conditions, on the other hand, which was very low within 10%. CONCLUSIONS : It was known that the $TiO_2$ penetration method as surface spray on hardened concrete was a good alternative in order to remove the NOx gases for concrete road structures.

  • 콘크리트 표면도장을 고려한 염소이온 침투해석 프로그램을 개발하고, 이를 사용하여 내구수명 연장 효과를 분석하였다. 해석결과에 의하면 표면도장은 가능한 초기에 실시하는 것이 효과적이었다.

  • Recently, high quality exposed concrete is needed to achieve high quality surface for outer wall of the building. In this study, to solve above characteristic of the exposed concrete we selected self compacting concrete(SCC) and compared with normal concrete. So, we developed the SCC mix design and performed the semi mock-up test. Through this result, we performed the pilot test and mock-up test to check surface of outer wall and to measure formwork pressure As a result because SCC is better than normal concrete with respect to flowability and seggregation resistance SCC is suit to a exposed concrete needed high quality surface for outer wall of the building.

  • The Durability of Concrete Structure is serverely degraded due to mainly carbonation, sulfate attack and chloride ion diffusion in concrete. The ultimate purpose of this study is to obtain how much the durability of Concrete Structure is improved according to the variation of physical properties in concrete or the frequency of surface coating on concrete. Where, variation of physical properties is a water-cement ratio or amount of air. The experiments are the chliride ion diffusion test, the lapid corrosion test, the lapid carbonation test, the test on resistance to freezing and thawing. Finally, this study shows that the effect by the surface coating method is better than the variation of physical properties in concrete.

퍼지 기법을 이용한 콘크리트 표면의 균열 검출 (Detection of Concrete Surface Cracks using Fuzzy Techniques)

  • 본 논문에서는 콘크리트 균열 영상에서 퍼지 기법을 이용하여 균열을 자동으로 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 콘크리트 표면 균열 검출 방법은 콘크리트 균열 영상의 R,G,B 채널 값을 퍼지 기법에 적용하여 후보 균열을 검출한다. 검출된 균열 후보 영역에 대해 밀도 정보를 이용하여 세부적인 잡음을 제거 한 후에 최종적으로 균열을 검출한다. 실제 콘크리트 균열 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 제안한 방법이 기존의 방법보다 균열 검출 성능이 개선되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
