The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of metacognitive instruction model on the changes of science concepts, when it was applied to 6th grade students. To do this, students were tested with the achievement of molecules and molecular motion concepts and metacognitive self-regulation test as a pretest Based upon metacognitive instruction model and student's conception, instruction program were developed. This metacognitive strategy Program was applied to the experimental group and expository teaching was applied to the comparison group (followed the order and method in authorized science textbook and teachers handbook). When planned lessons were finished, students were given a post-test to find conceptual change. After six months students were given a test again to find retention effect. There was a significant difference in conceptual change and retention between comparison group and experimental group by treatment at p< .05 level, The difference between comparison group and experimental group was especially significant, when the situation of test item wasn't similar to that of the textbook Metacognitive instruction model was more effective to high group than low group in metacognitive self-regulation level on conceptual change and retention. So the metacognitive strategy Played an important role in conceptual change and retention. And we can recognize that the students who take part in the metacognitive lesson can apply the corrected concept to the other concrete situation because they can understand new concept accurately by metacognitive strategies. And we can guess that high group in metacognitive self-regulation level can team metacognitive strategy easily but relatively low group student have some trouble in learning new strategy.
This study investigated the effect of cooperative learning on the middle school students’ conceptual change of atmospheric and water cycle and also examined the verbal interaction patterns in a cooperative group. The study also analyzed the relationship between the verbal interaction and students’ conceptual change in the cooperative learning situation. Two classes from a middle school were selected as an experimental group (cooperative learning group, n = 37) and a control group (traditional learning group, n = 37), respectively. The experimental group was taught by STAD cooperative learning model and received collaborative skill training. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: first, there were no significant differences in conceptual change between the two groups. As for the middle-achieving students on the pretest, however, the score of the cooperative learning group was significantly higher than that of the traditional learning group. Secondly, verbal interaction in the cooperative learning situation mainly happened among high- and middle achieving students. In addition, the students who were successful in undergoing conceptual change had more frequent verbal interactions than the students who were not. The study suggests that it is more important to interact between a teacher and students than to interact between the students and students in order to correct students’ misconception.

Advanced ICT(Information and Communication Technology) and popularization of smart devices change our culture as well as our life style and it has changed the way of learning in education area. There have been some researches to make effective smart education systems based on ICT but few of them were designed by a solid concept of smart education. This is because there have been few researches on developing a conceptual model for smart education. The purpose of this study is to propose a conceptual model for smart education: CTLA(Creation, Teaching, Learning and Assessment) model. It includes activities of smart creation, smart teaching, smart learning, and smart assessment considering ICT environment for education and characteristics of digital natives.

Assessing students' knowledge can be a challenging endeavor, as researchers attempt to capture the full complexity and potential development of children's ideas. In this study, the Dynamic Science Assessment (DSA) method (Magnusson, Templin, and Boyle, 1997) was employed to investigate 9-12 year old students' understandings of light, while engaging in multiple tasks with a flashlight with various reflectors and mirrors. The results showed that DSA was effective in providing an opportunity to establish a Zone of Proximal Development, in addition to diagnosing a student's prior understanding. Throughout the interview, a student showed a conceptual model of light as being a solid single entity whose shape can be determined by the shape of the casing of a flashlight. However, as DSA provided phenomena that could not be explained by his unitary model, the student began to re-examine his original conceptual model, and attempted to revise it. This study addressed how Dynamic Science Assessment can help us better understand, not only students' current state of understanding, but also a potential development of understanding in their ZPD. In that sense, this study argues that we should pay more attention to the instructive role of classroom assessment that can promote and support further development of students' deeper understandings.

The purpose of the study was to suggest the characteristics and goals of the science teaching model for use as criteria in selecting the appropriate teaching model for science in secondary schools. These characteristics and the goals have been organized based on the analyses of the literature on the teaching and/or instructional model. The teaching models have been classified into four areas, and the characteristics and goals of each area have been summarized as follows: $\cdot$ Traditional models: teaching of scientific knowledge through lectures, acquisition of scientific knowledge through discovery, acquisition of inquiry process skills through inquiry-based teaching/learning $\cdot$ Transitional models: demonstration and discovery as teaching strategies, acquisition of inquiry process skills through inquiry approach, acquisition and change of scientific knowledge $\cdot$ Modernistic model - conceptual change models: differentiation of scientific knowledge, exchange of misconceptions for scientific concepts - learning cycle models: conceptual differentiation, exchange of misconceptions, acquisition of science process skills Also described in this paper are the model's characteristics and goals that can be used as the criteria for selecting the appropriate teaching model for the subject that will be taught.

Initial science teacher education in Hong Kong is provided by the Post-graduate Diploma in Education Programme (PGDE) for both pre-service and in-service secondary school teachers. This programme includes a balanced treatment of subject curriculum and teaching in science, general pedagogical knowledge and skills, educational psychology and school administration. The science courses in this programme also have some units that equip science teachers with the knowledge and skills that are essential for teaching a science curriculum that emphasises conceptual change and understanding of the nature and methods of science. This emphasis is illustrated by two studies: (1) Developing a conceptual change model of instruction in Biology teachers, and (2) Constructing understanding of the nature and methods of science.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review behavior change theories in terms of important variables, concept definitions, and applicability to diabetes self-management behavior. Methods: Six behavior change theories (the Transtheoretical Model, the Health Belief Model, the Theory of Reasoned Action, the Theory of Planned Behavior, Social cognitive theory, and Information-Motivation-Behavioral skills Model) were reviewed which were applied in diabetes self-management interventions. Results: The five key concepts from the five non-stage behavior change theories were delineated. Based on the key concepts, a theoretical framework was formulated as the explanatory model of diabetes self-management behaviors. The four major concepts in Information-Motivation- Behavioral skills Model were included. The cognitive arm of the proposed theoretical framework included constructs related to diabetes knowledge, motivation (beliefs, attitude, social norm), self-efficacy, and intention. Conclusion: The theoretical framework described here includes the key factors of successful diabetes self- management intervention. However, the concept of motivation needs further exploration and clarification for operationalization.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the conceptual simulation observed when students are thinking about the causes of the seasonal change, identifying how students come up with the explanation. For this study, a framework for conceptual simulation process and strategy based on literary research was developed and its validity was proved by four experts in the field of science education. The results were as in the following: First, through the process of explaining the causes for seasonal change, students usually base their explanation on perceptual experience learned from model experiments from a science class. Besides, construct of thought experiment using the familiar object or analogize of the familiar perceptual experience. These all contributed to on explanation firmly. Second, errors from mental simulation were found in the statement of initial representation and running imagistic simulation. It happened when statement of initial representation is not in a complete and secure state or when participants think of an inappropriate situation during running imagistic simulation. Third, the study identified that the use of strategies like 'removal' and 'replace' was shown to enhance the effects of conceptual simulation particularly in regard with solar attitude at meridian passage.

Shipping has become an important sector in supporting social, economic, government, defense, security, cultural and other sectors to unite separate islands and broad seas. Thus, ports automatically become an important facility in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to test and explain the effect of Organizational readiness for change, Service Innovation, and Corporate Image on Perceived opportunity and challenge. The research model with inferential analysis uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis with the WarpPLS approach, expected to answer the statements of problem and be able to test the desired hypothesis. The model development in this research was based on the background, statements of problem, conceptual framework and research hypotheses. The model referred to is "Complete and Comprehensive Port." Its development was carried out through studying and synthesizing various sources. The most important source is the results of literature review in the form of theoretical developments and research results, then continued with compilation. The use of Organizational Change Readiness, Service Innovation, and Corporate Image in improving Port Competitiveness is seen as one of the novelties of this research, specifically the use of the Organizational Change Readiness variable which is often used in high-flexibility companies but now used in port companies as well.
