Artificial neural network is widely used for its excellent performance and implementability. However, traditional neural network needs to learn the system from scratch, with the addition of new input data, the variation of the observation environment, or the change in the form of input/output data. To resolve such a problem, the technique of transfer learning has been proposed. Transfer learning constructs a newly developed target system partially updating existing system and hence provides much more efficient learning process. Until now, transfer learning is mainly studied in the field of image processing and is not yet widely employed in acoustic data processing. In this paper, focusing on the scalability of transfer learning, we apply the concept of transfer learning to the problem of guitar chord classification and evaluate its performance. For this purpose, we build a target system of convolutional neutral network (CNN) based 48 guitar chords classification system by applying the concept of transfer learning to a source system of CNN based 24 guitar chords classification system. We show that the system with transfer learning has performance similar to that of conventional system, but it requires only half the learning time.
Smart-Learning has been increasing with the growth of smartphone usage. Looking at previous research, this study established the concept of smart learning, current understanding of smart learning and the requirements for smart learning. Subsequently, It was established a concept of SNS, reviewing future education, self-directed learning by using social network, and suggests policies of vitalizing smart-learning by using SNS. In order to use SNS in smart learning, first it is proposed the need for smart learning laws and institutions, particularly with young people considering their emotions in order to expand what is proposed. secondly, the need for SNS usage to be socially and culturally relevant. third and finally, the need for strengthening information security with co-operation from the government.
Conceptual teaming has been one of the important issue in science education, and its theory and method has been interacted with the studies of philosophy of science, cognitive science, and cognitive psychology. The last two decades have witnessed a remarkable growth of the study on brain-style computation, i.e. connectionism. This study aimed to investigate the properties of the connectionist views of the concept and its implications in the conceptual learning of science. In connectionist views, a concept was represented as a pattern of activity distributed over many connected units, and a kind of network composed of many sub-concept units. And the 'distributed representation' had the features of the constructivity, the automatically generalization, and the tunability. On the base of these views, it was suggested that (ⅰ) 'Typically-Perceived-Situation', a kind of mental representation rising spontaneously in an individual mind when someone is thinking about any object, should be highlighted, and (ⅱ) the roles of the sub-concept units in formation of concept and the resolution of concept into the sub-concept units should be highlighted. Finally the meanings of these implications in conceptual teaming of science are discussed.
This study proposes a Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) algorithm, based on concept learning with special emphasis on statistically meaningful lowest frequency words. Previous works on WSD typically make use of frequency of collocation and its probability. Such probability based WSD approaches tend to ignore the lowest frequency words which could be meaningful in the context. In this paper, we show an algorithm to extract and make use of the meaningful lowest frequency words in WSD. Learning method is adopted from the Find-Specific algorithm of Mitchell (1997), according to which the search proceeds from the specific predefined hypothetical spaces to the general ones. In our model, this algorithm is used to find contexts with the most specific classifiers and then moves to the more general ones. We build up small seed data and apply those data to the relatively large test data. Following the algorithm in Yarowsky (1995), the classified test data are exhaustively included in the seed data, thus expanding the seed data. However, this might result in lots of noise in the seed data. Thus we introduce the 'maximum a posterior hypothesis' based on the Bayes' assumption to validate the noise status of the new seed data. We use the Naive Bayes Classifier and prove that the application of Find-Specific algorithm enhances the correctness of WSD.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of integrated science inquiry teaming method through literature materials on the learner's science concept formation, inquiry ability, and attitude related to science when it was applied to the unit 'The temperature of atmosphere and winds', 'The journey of water' in the 5th grade, and to find out the effect on science learning according to teaming styles. To study these subjects, 4 classes of 5th grade in J elementary school in Busan were selected. The result of this study were as follows: First, Integrated science inquiry learning method through literature materials was more effective for concept formation than conventional teaching method. In science inquiry ability, there was not significant difference at all between the comparison group and the experimental group. In attitude related to science, the experimental group showed significant difference only in the interest in occupation related to science. The visual modality learners within the experimental group showed significantly higher statistics than the other modality learners in the post-investigation into the science concept and there was significant difference between the visual and the kinesthetic modality learners in the result of post-test on science inquiry ability.
Whether textbooks faithfully reflect the curriculum contents is an important educational issue. The previous studies on the textbooks did not analyze the relationship described in the textbooks or the structure. In this regard, this study aims to analyze how the concept of life science area in the elementary school science textbooks developed on the basis of the 2009 revised curriculum is linked. In addition, it seeks to analyze how the concept presented in the learning content achievement standards of the curriculum is connected to other concepts. Towards this end, the conceptual linkage of eight units in the life science domain of elementary school science textbooks based on the 2009 revised curriculum was analyzed. The contents of the life science domain in the science textbooks were analyzed through a semantic network analysis, and the semantic network on the concept linked to the one described in curriculum's learning objectives was also analyzed. The results are as follows: 1) It will be difficult for students to understand the concept due to the complexity of the semantic network resulting from a number of concepts. 2) The curriculum's learning objectives presented in the curriculum are not faithfully reflected in the textbooks. 3) The textbooks are described on the basis of specific curriculum's learning objectives. Based on the findings of this study, the number of concepts described in the elementary school science textbooks needs to be significantly reduced so that the concepts can be meaningfully linked to each other.

In this study, a concept learning strategy emphasizing social consensus during discussion (SCS) was developed. The instructional effects of this strategy were compared with those of cognitive conflict strategy (CCS) and traditional instruction in the aspects of students' achievement, conceptions, communication apprehension, perceptions of science learning environment, and perceptions of small group discussion. There were no significant differences in the scores of an achievement test. For the students of low communication competency, however, the scores of the CCS group were significantly higher than those of the traditional group. The adjusted mean of the SCS group was higher than those of the other groups in a conceptions test. The social consensus strategy was also found to be more effective in learning concept for those who were more competent in communicating. No significant differences were found in the communication apprehension. The scores of three groups did not differ significantly in the subcategories of 'personal relevance' and 'students' negotiation' of the test of the perceptions of science learning environment. However, the students in the SCS group scored higher in 'participation'. The students in the SCS group perceived small group discussions more positively.

The purpose of this study was to review the studies related to concept learning forcusing on the meanings, kinds, and characteristics of concepts. Then the characteristics of the concepts were analyzed in the three positions: metaphysics, epistemology, and psychology. It was identified that the word 'concept' were confused with the other words such as conception, construct, idea, notion, identity. It was also found that researchers defined the concepts by the use of various meanings. The instructional strategies for scientific concepts were also analyzed in this study. The study found that the instructional strategies for concept learning were developed according to the views about the nature of concepts. Described on the paper are three types of instructional models for science concepts suggested by constructivists as follows: concept formation, concept differentiation, and exchange. They developed the models based on the current research on the misconceptions of major scientific concepts.

This study has two goals. The First is to develop and apply a step-by-step program and the degree to which students' mathematical skills. The second is to analyze mathematical attitude change around the first grade students was done. The program for learning complement number is composed of series of 5 steps and 11 classes. Play for learning complement number, taking into account the difficulty of the learning steps 1-5 are organized. First step is composed of the classes which fragmented pieces of shapes to complete the entire geometry with fun activities for the entire part of the concept of learning and it maintenance concepts and can naturally learn by associating step. In second step, tools to take advantage of the real world and collecting the conservative concept. 3rd steps is to repair the mathematical concept of the parish in the learning stage of expansion. 4th step is halrigalri, number cards, making ten games etc. 5th step is to verify the concept of complement number and number operation ability. The concept of complement number through fun activities can improve students' mathematical skills, and mathematical attitude change. Early in the program, students use the finger to throw acid in the process. Simple addition and subtraction calculations may take a long time and error, but more and more we progress through the program using the fingers is eliminated and a more complex form calculations was not difficult to act out.
