구면거울 모델링을 이용한 물체의 거리 추정 (Depth Estimation Using Spherical Mirror Modeling)

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of finding the depth of a object in two images taken with cameras. For solving this problem, we introduce a spherical concave mirror model. First, a virtual concave mirror is assumed, and then a scene is obtained by camera at two different position which are on the surface of the mirror. The depth of object is calculated from two scenes by using the spherical-mirror equation. The algorithm has been tested on a real scene containing several objects, and showed that it is more useful for farther object.

Numerical and Experimental Investigation of the Heating Process of Glass Thermal Slumping

  • The glass thermal forming process provides a high volume, low cost approach to producing aspherical reflectors for x-ray optics. Thin glass sheets are shaped into mirror segments by replicating the mold shape at high temperature. Heating parameters in the glass thermal slumping process are crucial to improve surface quality of the formed glass. In this research, the heating process of a thermal slumping glass sheet on a concave parabolic mold was simulated with the finite-element method (FEM) to investigate the effects of heating rate and soaking temperature. Based on the optimized heating conditions, glass samples 0.5 mm thick were formed in a furnace with a steel concave parabolic mold. The figure errors of the formed glass were measured and discussed in detail. It was found that the formed glass was not fully slumped at the edges, and should be trimmed to achieve better surface deviation. The root-mean-square (RMS) deviation and peak-valley (PV) deviation between formed glass and mold along the axial direction were 2.3 μm and 4.7 μm respectively.

  • An experimental study is made in a nearly two-dimensional 90.deg. curved duct to investigate the effects of interaction between streamline curvature and mean strain on turbulence. The initial shear at the entrance to the curved duct is varied by an upstream shear generator to produce five different shear conditions ; a uniform flow (UF), a positive weak shear (PW), a positive strong shear(PS), a negative weak shear (NW) and a negative strong shear(NS). With the mean field data of the case UF, variations of the momentum thickness, the shape factor and the skin friction over the convex(inner) surface and the concave (outer) surface are scrutinized quantitatively in-depth. It is found that, while the pressure loss due to curvature is insensitive to the inlet shear rates, the distributions of wall static pressure along both convex and concave surfaces are much influenced by the inlet shear rates.

  • The present study investigates the heat transfer characteristics on concave surface with array impinging jet and fin arrangement. The heat transfer coefficients was measured by TLC method. The Reynolds number based on jet hole diameter is 10,000 and hole diameter-to-plate distance ratio (H/d) is fixed at 2. The rectangular fins are installed in the curved channel and the width of fin varies from 1d to 3d. Without fins, the averaged heat transfer coefficients decreases as moves downstream region. While, the rectangular fins block the crossflow and higher heat transfer rates were observed compared to smooth channel.

볼밀의 내벽 보호용 현무암 라이너의 최적형상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimum Shape of Basalt Liner for Inner Wall Protection of Ball Mill)

  • For protection of the cylinder wall of the ball mill for grinding raw ore. the inner side of the cylinder is covered with rubber liner. The rubber is easily worn down because the rubber relatively soft compared with raw ore. So the rubber liner in the ball mill cylinder must be replaced almost every year and the cost for replacing rubber liner formidable. In this paper, for reducing or excluding the cost of replacing rubber liner the basalt liner is designed. The basalt materials are generally harder than raw ore and the basalt liner in the ball mill does not wear down and so it can be used almost permanently. The concave surfaces are made on the liner of the ball mill and the liner in the cylinder wall plays also the role of raising the steel balls mixed in the raw ore. The section profiles of the concave surface have an important effect on the performance of the ball mill. The deep concave grooves raise the steel balls to high levels and give the large potential energy to the steel balls impacting to the raw ore. But if the concave grooves are too deep. the steel balls raised too high by the concave grooves fly along the parabolic path and reach to the other side of cylinder wall and so the steel balls do not play the roles of grinding the raw ore. The forces acting to a steel ball in a concave groove of the cylinder liner are also analyzed in this paper. The formulas calculating the height and the impact point of the steel ball are introduced and presented. Based to these formulas, the optimum section profiles of the basalt liner are presented.

오목한 광섬유 팁의 방사특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Radiation Characteristics of Concave Optical Fiber Tips)

  • 본 논문에서는 광통신용 공진기에 필요한 광섬유의 오목한 면 제작에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 불산(Hydrofluoric acid) 용액과 이 용액에 잘 흡수될 수 있는 파장인 $1.55{\mu}m$의 레이저를 인가하여 광열효과를 유도하였고, 식각 용액에서의 광열효과를 통해 광섬유 끝단의 곡률 반경을 자유롭게 변경할 수 있는 점을 현미경 사진 촬영으로 확인하였다. 빔 프로파일러를 이용하여 제작한 결과물의 끝단에서 방사되는 빔의 크기 변화를 관측하여 유효성을 검증하였고 본 논문의 저자들은 제시한 방식이 광통신용 공진기에 적용 가능성이 있을 것으로 보고 있다.

Computational Investigations of Impingement Heat Transfer on an Effused Concave Surface

  • A computational study is reported on flow and heat transfer characteristics from five rows of circular air jets impinging on a concave surface with four rows of effusion holes. The effects of exit configurations of spent air and the arrangement of jet orifices and effusion holes for a jet Reynolds number of 7500 is investigated. In all, eight cases are studied and a good qualitative correlation is found among their flow patterns, pressure variations and heat transfer distributions.

스윙암 방식을 이용한 대형 광학부품 연마가공기 개발 (Development of a Swing-Arm Type Polishing Machine for Large Optics)

  • A polishing machine adopting a new unique structural mechanism has been developed, named as a swing-arm type polishing machine. The mechanism is such that the tool path tracks on a spherical surface, of which the diameter is adjusted by setting up the machine mechanism properly. It has a strong benefit especially for polishing axis-symmetric concave mirror surfaces. The swing-arm type polishing machine with 5-axes has been designed in order to polish a concave mirror surface lip to diameter of 2 meters. The drawings are made using 3D CAD and strain-stress analysis has been done by finite element method. AC servo-motor has been used to move the swing arm and a operating software has been developed using a LapVIEW tool. Result of the test run was satisfactory which convinces the usefulness of the swing-arm type polishing machine.

인접 픽셀 값 정보를 이용하는 효율적인 확대 영상의 화질 개선 기법 (An efficient quality improvement scheme of magnified image by using the information of adjacent pixel values)

  • 본 논문에서는 확대 영상의 화질을 개선하기 위하여 인접픽셀 값 정보를 이용하여 영상의 단순 볼록 곡면과 단순 오목 곡면을 추정하는 기법과 영상이 단순 볼록 곡면과 단순 오목 곡면의 특성을 반영하여 확대 영상을 구성하는 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 기법을 사용하여 확대 영상을 구성하면 기존의 기법들을 사용하여 확대한 영상보다 실제 영상에 더욱 충실하게 된다. 제안된 기법을 적용하여 확대한 영상의 화질향상 정도를 측정하기 위하여 PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio)을 사용하였다. 제안된 기법을 적용하여 확대한 영상들의 PSNR 값들은 기존의 기법들을 적용하여 확대한 영상들의 PSNR 값보다 큰 것을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presenta new method for tool interference acoidance using rectanguar approximation in NC machining of scuptured surface. The procedure of algorithm for approximation of sculptured surface to rectangular surface is described. Using this algorithm, we can check concave, convex, and side interference region and avoid these interferenes.
