LTE Packet Scheduling with Bandwidth Type Consideration

  • LTE (Long-Term Evolution, sometimes known as 4G LTE) is a wireless high-speed data communication technology for mobile phones and data terminals. The Packet Scheduler (PS) is an important component in improving network performance. Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs) are assigned to associated User Equipment by the packet scheduler (UEs). The primary contribution of this study is a comparison of the eNodeB throughput between a suggested method and the Round Robin (RR) Algorithm. The RR Algorithm distributes PRBs among all associated UEs without taking channel circumstances into account. In this research, we present a new scheduling method that takes into account the number of PRBs and associated UEs and produces higher throughput than the RR algorithm.

  • This paper focuses on the development of speech enhancement techniques for hands-free audio terminals, including two major problems : noise cancellation and acoustic echo cancellation. The objective is to find a joint structure to get a near-end speech signal with minimum distortion and low levels of echo and noise. To solve the two problems, a new promising technique is studied and tested in computer simulation conditions.

  • This paper presents dynamic modeling and simulation of induction motors. Equivalent circuit parameters measured by do test, no-load test and locked-rotor test were used as the input data for computer simulation. Operating characteristics of an induction motor were predicted by Matlab/simulink when changing load torque, opening and reclosing of phase a of the stator and three-phase fault at machine terminals.

  • The Nautical Chart Division has the responsibility of producing charts covering the Korean Waters and its adjacent seas. In November 1994 a part of computer charting system has been introduced to the OHA and the total system of 4 workstations and 3 graphic terminals for digital compilation and ENC preparation will be delivered by the end of this year. Using this system three papaer charts are now edited as a test-base.

Space-Time Diversity Relaying Strategy using Cooperative Communication Technique (협력 통신 기법을 이용한 시공간 다이버시티 중계 전략)

  • In this paper a new space-time diversity relaying strategy using cooperative communication technique is proposed. More than one relaying terminals are included in one cooperative group to share their state information, such as frame error rate and channel state information. The best terminals are selected to send bit information using space-time diversity relay system. An implementation for the proposed scheme is also presented using the TDMA cooperative protocol. The resulting receive signal to transmit signal ratio and computer simulation demonstrate that the proposed strategy outperforms the conventional cooperative system.

A Study on the Resource Allocation Strategies of the Container Terminals Using Simulation Technique (시뮬레이션 기법을 이용한 컨테이너 터미널의 자원할당 전략에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents an estimation method of container handling capacity and selection of resource allocation strategies of container terminals using the computer simulation models. Simulation models are developed to model container terminal consisting of 4 berths considering the berth allocation strategies, crane allocation strategies and the total number of container cranes using Arena simulation package. The proposed models do not consider the yard operations and gate operations. All the input parameters for the models are estimated on the basis of the existing container terminal operation data and the planning data for the automated container terminal planned by Korean government. Four berth allocation strategies and three crane allocation strategies are considered. The total number of container cranes considered ranges from 12 to 15. Non-terminating simulation techniques are utilized for the performance comparison among alternatives. The performance measures such as average ship turnaround time, average ship waiting time, average ship service time, the number of containers handled per year, and the number of ships processed per year are used. The result shows that the berth allocation strategy minimizing the sum of the number of ships waiting, the number of busy container cranes and number of ships handled performs better than any other berth allocation strategies. In addition, the crane allocation strategy allocating up to 5 container cranes per berth performs better than any other crane allocation strategies. Finally there are no significant performance differences among the alternatives consisting of different total number of container cranes allocated.

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture of multimedia communication terminal that can e used in broadband ISDN environments. To design and implement the multimedia communication terminal, we analyzed the structure of multimedia terminals and the types of services which is recommended by public and private standard or ganization, such as ITU-T, Digital Audio-Visual Council(davic) and ATM Forum. The multifunctional communication terminal designed in this paper could allow inter-working between existing communication terminals on the heterogeneousnetwork and accept current and advanced multimedia communication application flexible. An implemented terminal is consisted of the multimedia processing board and the ATm interface board that is installed in PCI bus on personal computer. The integrated service multimedia communication terminal that is implemented supports retrieval, distributive and conversational communication service simultaneously. And then we performaned functional module test according to the individual communication services.

GROUP SECRET KEY GENERATION FOR 5G Networks

  • Key establishment method based on channel reciprocity for time division duplex (TDD) system has earned a vital consideration in the majority of recent research. While most of the cellular systems rely on frequency division duplex (FDD) systems, especially the 5G network, which is not characterized by the channel reciprocity feature. This paper realizes the generation of a group secret key for multi-terminals communicated through a wireless network in FDD mode, by utilizing the nature of the physical layer for the wireless links between them. I consider a new group key generation approach, which using bitwise XOR with a modified pairwise secret key generation approach not based on the channel reciprocity feature. Precisely, this multi-node secret key agreement technique designed for three wireless network topologies: 1) the triangle topology, 2) the multi-terminal star topology, and 3) the multi-node chain topology. Three multi-node secret key agreement protocols suggest for these wireless communication topologies in FDD mode, respectively. I determine the upper bound for the generation rate of the secret key shared among multi-node, for the three multi-terminals topologies, and give numerical cases to expose the achievement of my offered technique.

A Deadlock A voidance Method and a Regression-Based Route Selection Scheme for AGV s in Automated Container Terminals (자동화 컨테이너 터미널에서 AGV 교착 방지와 회귀 분석을 이용한 경로 선정 방안)

  • This paper presents a deadlock avoidance method for AGVs in automated container terminals. For a more efficient use of AGV traveling area, we divided the area into small-sized grids not enough to cover a whole AGV. Our deadlock avoidance method controls AGVs by identifying strongly connected components(SCCs) in a graph derived from the paths of AGVs on the grids. Also in this paper we suggest a route selection scheme which selects a route by predicting and comparing travel times of candidate routes by using a regression formula. Simulation experiments have shown that the proposed method can control AGVs for 48 hours without deadlocks and the count of AGV visits per QC is increased by $2\~10$ an hour.

Satellite Mobility Pattern Scheme for Centrical and Seamless Handover Management in LEO Satellite Networks

  • Since low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations have important advantages over geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO) systems such as low propagation delay, low power requirements, and more efficient spectrum allocation due to frequency reuse between satellites and spotbeams, they are considered to be used to complement the existing terrestrial fixed and wireless networks in the evolving global mobile network. However, one of the major problems with LEO satellites is their higher speed relative to the terrestrial mobile terminals, which move at lower speeds but at more random directions. Therefore, handover management in LEO satellite networks becomes a very challenging task for supporting global mobile communication. Efficient and accurate methods are needed for LEO satellite handovers between the moving footprints. In this paper, we propose a new seamless handover management scheme for LEO satellites (SeaHO-LEO), which utilizes the handover management schemes aiming at decreasing latency, data loss, and handover blocking probability. We also present another interesting handover management model called satellite mobility pattern based handover management in LEO satellites (PatHO-LEO) which takes mobility pattern of both satellites and mobile terminals into account to minimize the handover messaging traffic. This is achieved by the newly introduced billboard manager which is used for location updates of mobile users and satellites. The billboard manager makes the proposed handover model much more flexible and easier than the current solutions, since it is a central server and supports the management of the whole system. To show the performance of the proposed algorithms, we run an extensive set of simulations both for the proposed algorithms and well known handover management methods as a baseline model. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithms are very promising for seamless handover in LEO satellites.
