Prediction and Evaluation of Stiffness of Chevron Spring for Rail Vehicle (철도차량용 세브론 스프링의 강성 예측 및 평가)

  • A chevron rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for rail vehicle. The chevron spring support the load carried and reduces vibration and noise in operation of rail vehicle. The computer simulation using the nonlinear finite element analysis program MARC executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for the chevron spring. The appropriate shape and the material properties are proposed to adjust the required characteristics of chevron spring in the three modes of flexibility. Also, several samples of chevron spring are manufactured and experimented. It is shown that the predicted values agree well the results obtained from experiment.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effect of the change of the rotor time constant on the performance of the indirect vector control system. By employing indirect field orientation technique, we have also suggested an optimal control algorithm that allows an induction motor to maintain the maximum torque under the changing environment of rotor time constant. A computer simulation on the transient response of the output torque was demonstrated. To verify the validity of the method that has been proposed in this paper, an experiment has been performed utilizing TMS32OC31(40MHz) DSP chip which is capable of performing floating-point arithmetic in real time.

  • A collision query determines the intersection between given objects, and is used in computer-aided design and manufacturing, animation and simulation systems, and physically-based modeling. Bounding volume hierarchies are one of the simplest and most widely used data structures for performing collision detection on complex models. In this paper, we present hierarchy of oriented rounded bounding volume for fast proximity queries. Designing hierarchies of new bounding volumes, we use to combine multiple bounding volume types in a single hierarchy. The new bounding volume corresponds to geometric shape composed of a core primitive shape grown outward by some offset such as the Minkowski sum of rectangular box and a sphere shape. In the experiment of parallel close proximity, a number of benchmarks to measure the performance of the new bounding box and compare to that of other bounding volumes.

  • Even if there are lots of researches on localization using 2D range finder in static environment, very few researches have been reported for robust real-time localization of mobile robot in uncertain and dynamic environment. In this paper, we present a new localization method based on ICP(Iterative Closest Point) algorithm for navigation of mobile robot under dynamic or uncertain environment. The ICP method is widely used for geometric alignment of three-dimensional models when an initial estimate of the relative pose is known. We use the method to align global map with 2D scanned data from range finder. The proposed algorithm accelerates the processing time by uniformly sampling the line fitted data from world map of mobile robot. A data filtering method is also used for threshold of occluded data from the range finder sensor. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated through computer simulation and experiment in an office environment.

  • In order to design thermally trigger controlled persistent current switch (PCS) for superconducting magnet system, it is very important to know information of applied adiabatic method and condition to get designed resistance and characteristics In this paper, we used cotton-gummed tape as thermal insulator and derived experimentally averaged thermal conductivity of it around 10K on the assumption that adiabatic structure of PCS is shape of pipe. The result value is about 0.29 W/mK and it is verified reasonable value by computer simulation and experiment of test PCS. Test PCS was designed and manufactured different dimensions. The experimental results of test PCS were in good agreement with the calculated results.

  • In this paper, the phase shifter using the p-i-n diode is designed and analyze. The large phase shift can be achieved by the swithched-line and the hybrid branch line phase shifter, however the small phase shift can be achieved by the loaded-line phase shifter, according to the bias state of the p-i-n niode. The results of the experiment agree with those of computer simulation at the center frequency.

  • New grid connected PV(Photovoltaic) system of high-frequency link with soft-switching is proposed to solve problems related to the loss of transformer and switch. The operation of Proposed system using the soft switching that consists of high frequency transformer is confirmed by computer simulation and experiment. It can improve its efficiency and solve the Problems mentioned above.

  • In this paper, we propose ship detection system which is co-operated with AIS by using background estimation based on image processing for on the sea or harbor image extracted from camera. We experiment with on the sea or harbor image extracted from real-time input image from camera. By computer simulation and real world test, the proposed system show more effective to ship monitoring.

  • In wind power generating system connected in power grid, the value of stator flux has almost constant because the stator side of doubly fed induction machine(DFIM) is connected to power grid. Using the stator and rotor current, it is possible to estimate the slip angle and rotor speed. A stator flux orientation scheme and rotor slip estimator are employed to achieve control of generating power in stator side. To verify the theoretical analysis, a 5-hp DFIM prototype system and PWM power converter are built. Results of computer simulation and experiment are presented to support the discussion.

  • The Backlight inverter used in the laptop computer is designed in this study. It has been difficult for electromagnetic transformer to enhance the efficiency and compact profile. In this study, (l) the piezoelectric transformer(PT) is used for reducing the loss: (2) the volume of core and winding coil are used in electromagnetic transformer, and (3) the zero voltage switching(ZVS) is used in the driver of the resonant circuit. The modified PT for this paper and the equivalent circuit are supported by the simulation program. ZVS is achieved by Half-Bridge inverter circuit. The result of the experiment shows more than 91% improvement in terms of the efficiency.
