New Medical Image Fusion Approach with Coding Based on SCD in Wireless Sensor Network

  • The technical development and practical applications of big-data for health is one hot topic under the banner of big-data. Big-data medical image fusion is one of key problems. A new fusion approach with coding based on Spherical Coordinate Domain (SCD) in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for big-data medical image is proposed in this paper. In this approach, the three high-frequency coefficients in wavelet domain of medical image are pre-processed. This pre-processing strategy can reduce the redundant ratio of big-data medical image. Firstly, the high-frequency coefficients are transformed to the spherical coordinate domain to reduce the correlation in the same scale. Then, a multi-scale model product (MSMP) is used to control the shrinkage function so as to make the small wavelet coefficients and some noise removed. The high-frequency parts in spherical coordinate domain are coded by improved SPIHT algorithm. Finally, based on the multi-scale edge of medical image, it can be fused and reconstructed. Experimental results indicate the novel approach is effective and very useful for transmission of big-data medical image(especially, in the wireless environment).

Wikispaces: A Social Constructivist Approach to Flipped Learning in Higher Education Contexts

  • This paper describes an attempt to integrate flip teaching into a language classroom by adopting wikispaces as an online learning platform. The purpose of this study is to examine student perceptions of the effectiveness of using video lectures and wikispaces to foster active participation and collaborative learning. Flipped learning was implemented in an English writing class over one semester. Participants were 27 low intermediate level Korean university students. Data collection methods included background questionnaires at the beginning of the semester, learning experience questionnaires at the end of the semester, and semi-structured interviews with 6 focal participants. Because of the significance of video lectures in flip teaching, oCam was used for making weekly online lectures as a way of pre-class activities. Every week, online lectures were posted on the school LMS system (moodle). Every week, participants met in a computer room to perform in-class activities. Both in-class activities and post-class activities were managed by wikispaces. The results indicate that the flipped classroom facilitated student learning in the writing class. More than 53% of the respondents felt that it was useful to develop writing skills in a flipped classroom. Particularly, students felt that the video lectures prior to the class helped them improve their grammar skills. However, with respect to their satisfaction with collaborative works, about 44% of the participants responded positively. Similarly, 44% of the participants felt that in-class group work helped them interact with the other group members. Considering these results, this paper concludes with pedagogical suggestions and implications for further research.

모바일 기반의 동작 추적 기법을 이용한 감시 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of Surveillance System using Motion Tracking Method based on Mobile)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상분할에 의한 동작 추적 기법을 이용하여 침입자를 감시하고 관련 정보를 모바일 기반으로 확인하도록 하였다. 먼저, 탐지하고자 하는 일정한 영역을 촬영한 동영상에서 프레임을 추출하고, 인접한 두 프레임 사이의 이미지 차를 사용하여, 고정된 배경과 움직이는 대상을 분할한다. 분할된 전경 물체에서 에지를 검출하여 지정된 위치별로 추출된 에지의 중간 값을 추정하여 동작을 분석함으로써 침입자를 감시할 수 있도록 하였다. 동작이 검출되면, 영상은 WAP 풀 기반 영상 전송 방법을 사용하여 모바일 클라이언트로 전송한다.

  • 유비쿼터스 시대가 다가옴에 따라 핵심 기술 중 하나인 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 현재 무선 통신 기술의 급속한 발전은 다양한 산업분야에서 편리성 및 용이성 측면에서 새로운 서비스들을 창출하고 있다. 특히, 환경 모니터링 분야에서 다양한 무선 통신 기술의 대두 및 발전은 설치 및 관련 비용의 대폭 절감뿐만 아니라 현장에서 실시간적으로 발생하는 자료의 수집주기, 신뢰성 및 전달성에 있어 획기적인 개선을 가능하게 하였다. 그러나 무선 통신 기술의 환경 모니터링 분야에 대한 지속적인 적용 및 성공은 신뢰할 수 있고 시기적절한 정보를 실시간적으로 제공 가능하느냐에 따를 것이다.

Computer Codes for Korean Sounds: K-SAMPA

  • An ASCII encoding of Korean has been developed for extended phonetic transcription of the Speech Assessment Methods Phonetic Alphabet (SAMPA). SAMPA is a machine-readable phonetic alphabet used for multilingual computing. It has been developed since 1987 and extended to more than twenty languages. The motivating factor for creating Korean SAMPA (K-SAMPA) is to label Korean speech for a multilingual corpus or to transcribe native language (Ll) interfered pronunciation of a second language learner for bilingual education. Korean SAMPA represents each Korean allophone with a particular SAMPA symbol. Sounds that closely resemble it are represented by the same symbol, regardless of the language they are uttered in. Each of its symbols represents a speech sound that is spectrally and temporally so distinct as to be perceptually different when the components are heard in isolation. Each type of sound has a separate IPA-like designation. Korean SAMPA is superior to other transcription systems with similar objectives. It describes better the cross-linguistic sound quality of Korean than the official Romanization system, proclaimed by the Korean government in July 2000, because it uses an internationally shared phonetic alphabet. It is also phonetically more accurate than the official Romanization in that it dispenses with orthographic adjustments. It is also more convenient for computing than the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) because it consists of the symbols on a standard keyboard. This paper demonstrates how the Korean SAMPA can express allophonic details and prosodic features by adopting the transcription conventions of the extended SAMPA (X-SAMPA) and the prosodic SAMPA(SAMPROSA).

A PWM Phase-Shift Circuit using an RC Delay for Multiple LED Driver ICs

  • This paper proposes a PWM phase-shift circuit to make that the LED lighting system distributes the channel currents evenly for any number of LED strings by generating evenly phase-shifted PWM signals for multiple LED driver ICs. The evenly distributed channel currents reduce the peak current, the decoupling capacitor size, and EMI noise. The PWM phase-shift circuit makes an arbitrary degree of PWM phase-shift by using a resistor and a capacitor. It measures the RC delay once. It reduces the number of external resistors and capacitors by providing zero and 180 degree phase-shift modes requiring no resistor and capacitor. An LED driver IC with the PWM phase-shift circuit was fabricated with a $0.35{\mu}m$ BCDMOS process. The PWM phase-shift circuit receives a PWM signal of 50 Hz~20 kHz at $f_{CLK}=450kHz$ and it generates a $0{\sim}360^{\circ}$ phase-shifted PWM signal with $R=0{\sim}1.1M{\Omega}$ at C=1 nF and $f_{PWM}=1kHz$. The measured phase errors are 1.74~3.94% due to parasitic capacitances.

  • RFID 시스템은 교통, 출입통제 비롯한 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있다. RFID 시스템에 대한 보안위협 또한 증가하여 정보보안에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 행렬기반 RFID 인증 프로토콜을 제안하고 기존에 제안된 프로토콜과 효율성을 비교하고 안전성을 분석한다. 제안된 인증 프로토콜은 도청, 재전송 등의 공격에 안전하며, 서버의 계산량을 줄여 성능면에서 효율이 우수한 장점을 갖는다.

미국 디자인대학의 Foundation과정에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Foundation Corse of Design Schools in USA)

  • As essential element of designers, foundation studies program helps student deal with the individual expression of imagination and variety of correspondence for solving design problem through the understanding of 2-D, 3-D basic design elements, principals, structures. Liberal art and foundation studio courses provides embodiment and settlement of design principal through the foundation studies expand to experiences systematically and deeply. After the Industrialization, foundation studies have developed from Bauhaus in German, the courses have been progressing and systematizing with the demand of time in United States. Growth of Industrialization, expanded design areas departmentalized to various of fields, then the segmentation of foundation courses tend to important than basic design courses. The introduction of information era, the appearance of computer is placed as a tool of design development and added to applied basic courses. This study is intended to know how to change the leading foundation courses in United State due to the revitalization of industrialization and information through the research and analyse to foundation design education curriculums. As a result, most of design school in United States provide drawing, 2-D, 3-D, and 4-D courses included 3-D design element as a basic studies and provide to students introduction to fundamental principal of design concept and communication in both theoretical and applied form. Also though the history, literature, critic, research and survey courses provide students to organize fundamental of systematical logic and understanding design system.

  • 대부분의 전자계산실무 교과 학습 관련 사이트들이 Text 위주의 나열식 학습평가가 대부분이나 본 논문에서는 빠른 속도로 출현하는 새로운 응용 프로그램의 활용을 필요로 하는 상업학교의 전자계산실무 교과목에 적용되는 학습평가를 웹을 기반으로 하여 이론과 실습을 교실에서 교사와 학생이 같이 수업을 하는 것처럼 WWW에서 애니메이션 기법을 이용하여 텍스트와 시각적, 청각적 기능을 포함한 자기주도적인 학습과 이전의 선발이나 배치의 목적으로 사용하기 위해 학습 결과를 양적으로만 측정해 온 것을 개개인의 특성을 고려한 평가 방법인 수준별, 개별화된 질적 평가가 가능하도록 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • 최근 웹2.0기술의 보급 확대로 개방과 참여, 공유를 의미하는 블로그, UCC 등과 함께 2.0시리즈가 대중화되고 있다. 그동안의 e-Learning이 강사주도형, 지식전달형으로 많이 치우쳐 이러닝에 학습자들의 참여가 저조한 실정이었던 반면, 웹2.0기술을 활용한 e-Learning 2.0은 이러한 한계를 뛰어 넘을 수 있는 환경을 제공하고 있다. e-Learning도 웹2.0을 잘 적용해 학습자들의 참여와 공유를 바탕으로 이러닝 2.0 시스템의 개발의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. e-Learning 2.0은 참여와 공유를 바탕으로 학습방법이나 노하우, 정보, 요약 노트를 주고받으면서 획기적으로 공부의 효율성을 서로 높일 수 있을 것이다.
