  • We develop accurate finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) modeling of polymer bulk heterojunction solar cells containing Ag nanoparticles between the hole-transporting layer and the transparent conducting oxide-coated glass substrate in the wavelength range of 300 nm to 800 nm. The Drude dispersion modeling technique is used to model the frequency dispersion behavior of Ag nanoparticles, the hole-transporting layer, and indium tin oxide. The perfectly matched layer boundary condition is used for the top and bottom regions of the computational domain, and the periodic boundary condition is used for the lateral regions of the same domain. The developed FDTD modeling is employed to investigate the effect of geometrical parameters of Ag nanospheres on electromagnetic fields in devices. Although negative plasmonic effects are observed in the considered device, absorption enhancement can be achieved when favorable geometrical parameters are obtained.

  • This paper presents a new modeling technique to reconstruct road environments. The reconstruction algorithm for road environments consists of three parts - reconstructing 3D models of architectures in road environments, editing and creating road models, and modeling auxiliary objects. Different modeling technique is applied to each of these three parts according to properties objects to be modeled contain. In this reconstruction system, modified Photogrammetric Modeling techique is used, of which the user interface is more convenient, and in which constraints of road environments are considered. These improvements make this road environment reconstruction system much simpler and easier to use compared with Photogrammetric Modeling technique[1, 2].

  • We forecast that the scale of mobile market will be large scale according to the twenty million times of smart phone's user is arrived. The type of software development is being transferred into mobile-based App. or cloud computing-based service from web-based software. Currently both Google's android and Apple's IOS are known for two prominent platforms. Existing modeling techniques cannot be applied into the case of mobile application which is executed those platforms. Therefore, we suggest a modeling technique that is customized existing modeling techniques into android-based software development. That is, we propose an analysis and design techniques which are needed into android-based mobile smart environment.

  • A complete modeling of erbium-doped Bismuth-oxide fibers with a high doping concentration is presented. A 6-level amplifier system that incorporated clustering-induced concentration quenching, cooperative upconversion, pump excited state absorption (ESA), and signal ESA, was adopted for the modeling. The accuracy of the modeling was verified by comparing the calculated gain and noise figure with experimentally obtained ones.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive dissolve detection method based on the analysis of a dissolve modeling error that is the difference between an ideally modeled dissolve curve without any correlation and an actual variance curve with a correlation. The dissolve modeling error is determined based on a correlation between two scenes and variances for each scene. First, Candidate regions are extracted by using the characteristics of a parabola that is downward convex, then the candidate region will be verified based on a dissolve modeling error. If a dissolve modeling error on a candidate region is less than a threshold that is defined by a dissolve modeling error with a target correlation, the candidate region should be a dissolve region with a correlation less than the target correlation. The threshold is adaptively determined based on the variances between the candidate regions and the target correlation. By considering the correlation between neighbor scenes, the proposed method is able to be a semantic scene-change detector. The proposed algorithm was tested on various types of data and its performance proved to be more accurate and reliable when compared with other commonly used methods

  • As window programming and internet programming are more required, requirement of the training on the object-oriented programming and the object oriented software development are growing. But, it is not easy to learn new brand methodologies or techniques. In this paper, we tried to apply software reuse to object modeling education for effective learning of new programming and modeling method. In this paper, we present analogical matching techniques for the reuse of object models and patterns in object modeling education. Analogy-based matching is better than keyword-based retrieval for model reuse. Reuse can help to reduce the learning curve of object modeling. Also, by applying analogical reasoning, the performance of retrieval is better than keyword-based retrieval.

  • Water modeling experiments and computer simulation for the predictions of defects of die castings are very important to produce high quality castings with less cost. The relation between the variable air vent system and the characteristics of the fluid flow in the die cavity is studied by using water modeling tests, which give ideas on reasonable designing of die cavity, vent arrangement and gating system. In order to test the water modeling, injection is done by using water containing NaCl. Flow behaviors in cavities are visualized by high speed camera and video tape recorder, and local filling time is measured with electrode sensors. Special attention is paid to the configuration of die cavity. Simulated results by computer are examined and compared with the results of water modeling experiments. There are close correlations between the simulated results and water modeling ones.

  • For a rule-based conversion of Hangout into the Roman alphabet rather than a word-for-word conversion, one must come up with a faultless model for the Korean standard pronunciation rules, which are the basis of the Romanization. It is on this foundation that the Korean-Roman alphabet conversion table can be created. For linguistic modeling using PetriNet, modeling boundary and notation of modeling can be defined. In order to describe PetriNet, which is a dynamic modeling tool, as a static one, one can model the standard Korean pronunciation rules and the Hangout-Roman alphabet notation by conversion into incident matrix Thus, this research attempts to develop a mathematical modeling tool for a natural language using PetriNet, and create a Korean-Roman alphabet conversion table.

  • In this paper, we show a study on how to model a phoneme of which acoustic feature is changed according to both left-hand and right-hand phonemes. For this purpose, we make a comparative study on two kinds of algorithms; a unit reduction algorithm and decision tree modeling. The unit reduction algorithm uses only statistical information while the decision tree modeling uses statistical information and Korean acoustical information simultaneously. Especially, we focus on how to model context-dependent phonemes based on decision tree modeling. Finally, we show the recognition rate when context-dependent phonemes are obtained by the decision tree modeling.
