Development Method for Teaching-Learning Plan of Computer Education using Concrete Instructional Model Framework

  • This research is to identify an easy and effective method of teaching-learning plan. The teaching-learning plan is a blue_print applied for designing effective lessons. However, most of the teachers regard it as a difficult and inefficient job. This study proposed the concrete instructional model framework as a tool to develop the teaching-learning plan easily and effectively. The concrete instructional model framework will represent a decomposed instructional strategy applied for each step of the instructional model developed by educational researchers. This method is applied to develop a computer teaching-learning plan. Therefore, the proposed method will expand an easier teaching-learning plan. Furthermore, the proposed method develops a teaching-learning plan with fluent content in detail based on low-level instruction strategies applied in the concrete instruction model framework.

  • We developed a junior high school-level computer assisted instruction CAI lesson on obesity and weight control and compared its effectiveness with the lecture/discussion method. we collected pretest and posttest data on knowledge an dinterest in obesity and weight control form 450 students in junior high school We randomly assigned three groups the CAI lesson group a comparable lecture/discussion lesson group and control group There were significant difference among these three groups in posttest knowledge scores and in interest in weight control CAI student's responses to learning by computer were significantly positive.

  • Web provides a new instruction and learning method to get the interactive learning for people. But it is not efficient for the interaction of the education resources in the Web, and also it is difficult for the accommodative instruction to the learners who need suitable level for themselves. Therefore this thesis proposes web-based instruction system by agent technology that enables to increase the interaction, not losing their own way and learning by level, when the learners have instruction with using of web.

  • In this paper, we present the architecture of graphics processor and its instruction format for the mobile device. In addition, we introduce tile shader data structure for the on/off-line compilation based on the OpenGL ES 2.0 and a new optimization method based on the ILP(Instruction-Level Parallelism). This paper shows where a processor with the sane core clock is being used, the shader instruction resulted from the compile structure and method in this paper is approximately 1.5 to 2 times faster than a code based on the single instruction.

A Meta-Analysis on the Effects of Academic Achievement in Web-Based Instruction (웹 기반 교수-학습이 학업성취에 미치는 영향에 대한 메타 분석)

  • The purpose of this study has been found to be effective using web-based instruction than traditional teaching-learning method on academic achievement applying the meta-analysis method. The results of this study were as follows: First, The 85% subject of analysis of web-based instruction selected in this study turned out to be clear effective than traditional teaching-learning method in academic achievement of students. Second, Web-based instruction is more effective for academic achievement of elementary school students and university students than for middle school students and high school students relatively. Third, Web-based instruction is a most effective method in social subject and physical education but less effective in language subject. The overall results of this study concluded more powerful and big decisions which have integrated each different effects on academic achievement of studies web-based instruction method applying meta-analysis. Through this study, make better results were obtained and suggested the base line data and direction for follow up studies.

  • Model-centered instruction which presents expert mental model before or during learning can facilitate and help novice learners' problem solving process. During six phases of cognitive apprenticeship model which is a method for applying model centered instruction theory, collaborative learning strategy can maximize articulation and reflection of novice learners. This article presents results of a study that investigated the effects of model-centered instruction and collaborative learning on the learning of instructional design process for pre-service teachers attending a computer education class at an education university.

  • Web based instruction (WBI) has been widely used thesedays because the web has various advantages for instruction. However, most of current WBI systems do not support various requirements from students. It is because of the lack of research for structural instruction method. This paper presents a new method of WBI and designs an instruction model to support various requirements from students by implementing dynamic WBI system using JSP to solve current WBI problems. The developed WBI system uses multimedia based instructions. The implemented system focused on the practical instruction by providing the functions of listening, homework, and test on web site. For the similar effects as in the classroom, it supports functions of electronic white board and multimedia data which is consisted of high-quality sound and video data with high degree of compression. Furthermore, the system supports that instructors can design a test using three kinds of basic forms, a multiple-choice test, brief-answer test, essay test, and evaluate the tests easily. It also supports easy management for homework, lecture registration, and many school affairs.

Performance Improvement of Virtualization Sensitive Instruction Emulation by Instruction Decoding at Compile Time (컴파일 시간 명령어 디코딩을 통한 가상화 민감 명령어 에뮬레이션 성능 개선)

  • Recently, we have seen several implementations that virtualize the ARM architecture. Since the current ARM architecture is not possible to be virtualized using the traditional technique called "trap-and-emulation", we usually detect all virtualization sensitive instructions during the run-time of a guest kernel and emulate them virtually rather than executing them directly. The emulation for virtualization is usually implemented either by binary translation or interpretation. Our research is about how to improve the performance of emulation for virtualization based on interpretation. The interpretation usually requires a few steps: instruction fetching, instruction decoding and instruction executing. In this paper, we propose a method that decodes all virtualization sensitive instructions during the compilation time of a guest kernel and reduces the time required for interpretation during the run time of the guest kernel. Our method provides both implementation simplicity and performance improvement of emulation for virtualization based on interpretation.

Operation Rearrangement for Low-Power VLIW Instruction Fetches (저전력 VLIW 명령어 추출을 위한 연산재배치 기법)

  • As mobile applications are required to handle more computing-intensive tasks, many mobile devices are designed using VLIW processors for high performance. In VLIW machines where a single instruction contains multiple operations, the power consumption during instruction fetches varies significantly depending on how the operations are arranged within the instruction. In this paper, we describe a post-pass optimal operation rearrangement method for low-power VLIW instruction fetch, The proposed method modifies operation placement orders within VLIW instructions so that the switching activity between successive instruction fetches is minimized. Our experiment shows that the switching activity can be 34% on average fro benchmark programs.
