In this paper, the necessity of the filter coefficients compensation for the lattice transversal joint (LTJ) adaptive filter was explained in general and with ease by analyzing it with respect to the time-varying transform domain adaptive filter. And also the reduction method of computational complexity for filter coefficients compensation was proposed using the property that speech signal is stationary during a short time period and its effectiveness was verified through experiments using artificial and real speech signals. The proposed adaptive filter reduces the computational complexity for filter coefficients compensation by 95%, and when the filter is applied to the acoustic echo canceller with 1000 taps, the total complexity is reduced by 82%.
Recently, high-throughput technologies such as the two-hybrid system, protein chip, Mass Spectrometry, and the phage display have furnished a lot of data on protein-protein interactions (PPIs), but the data has not been accurate so far and the quantity has also been limited. In this respect, computational techniques for the prediction and validation of PPIs have been developed. However, existing computational methods do not take into account the fact that a PPI is actually originated from the interactions of domains that each protein contains. So, in this work, the information on domain modules of individual proteins has been employed in order to find out the protein interaction relationship. The system developed here, WASPI (Web-based Assistant System for Protein-protein interaction Inference), has been implemented to provide many functional insights into the protein interactions and their domains. To achieve those objectives, several preprocessing steps have been taken. First, the domain module information of interacting proteins was extracted by taking advantage of the InterPro database, which includes protein families, domains, and functional sites. The InterProScan program was used in this preprocess. Second, the homology comparison with the GO (Gene Ontology) and COG (Clusters of Orthologous Groups) with an E-value of $10^{-5}$, $10^{-3}$ respectively, was employed to obtain the information on the function and annotation of each interacting protein of a secondary PPI database in the WASPI. The BLAST program was utilized for the homology comparison.
The study deals with the development of a computational procedure for evaluating the temperature rise in dry and lubricated multi-layered contacts of head/disk interface. A transient computational model with a transformed rectangular computational domain is utilized. A model and a computational method for micro-contact with sub-lubricated zone, including friction heat generation, have been presented. The model was applied, taking full account of the changes in contact area and contact load due to frictional heating. The computational distribution of temperature is obtained with the analytical findings for various composition and contact conditions. Especially, a rapid rise ($220^{\circ}C$ or above) in read head temperature lese to a saturation in the influence of a thermal spike on signal performance. This general class of problems can be treated provided that heat generation distribution and layer properties are known.

To make the best use of known characteristics of the alternating-direction-implicit finite-difference time-domain (ADI-FDTD) method such as unconditional stability and modeling accuracy, an efficient time domain solution with variable time-step size is proposed. Numerical experiment shows that a time-step size for a given mesh size can be increased preserving a desired numerical accuracy over frequencies of interest. The proposed method can be used to analyze electromagnetic problems with reduced computation time.
A new preconditioning method is investigated to reduce the roundoff error in computing derivatives using Chebyshev col-location methods(CCM). Using this preconditioning causes ration of roundoff error of preconditioning method and CCm becomes small when N gets large. Also for accuracy enhancement of differentiation we use a domain decomposition approach. Error analysis shows that for this domain decomposition method error reduces proportional to the length of subintervals. Numerical results show that using domain decomposition and preconditioning simultaneously gives super accu-rate approximate values for first derivative of the function and good approximate values for moderately high derivatives.

This paper reports the suitability of a domain decomposition technique for the hybrid simulation of dilute polymer solution flows using Eulerian Brownian dynamics and Radial Basis Function Networks (RBFN) based methods. The Brownian Configuration Fields (BCF) and RBFN method incorporates the features of the BCF scheme (which render both closed form constitutive equations and a particle tracking process unnecessary) and a mesh-less method (which eliminates element-based discretisation of domains). However, when dealing with large scale problems, there appear several difficulties: the high computational time associated with the Stochastic Simulation Technique (SST), and the ill-condition of the system matrix associated with the RBFN. One way to overcome these disadvantages is to use parallel domain decomposition (DD) techniques. This approach makes the BCF-RBFN method more suitable for large scale problems.
2-D flow fields are studied by using a shared memory parallel computer with a parallel flow analysis program which uses domain decomposition method and MPI library for data exchange at overlapped interface. Especially, effects of directional domain decomposition on parallel efficiency are studied for 2-D Lid-Driven cavity flow and flow through square cavity. It is known from the present study that domain decomposition along the main flow direction gives better parallel efficiency in 1-D partitioning than along the other direction. 2-D partitioning, however, is less sensitive to flow directions and gives good parallel efficiency for most of the cases considered.

Wavelet transform technique is applied to two important electromagnetic problems:1) to analyze the frequency-domain radar echo from finite-size targets and 2) to the integral solution of two- dimensional electromagnetic scattering problems. Since the frequency- domain radar echo consists of both small-scale natural resonances and large-scale scattering center information, the multiresolution property of the wavelet transform is well suited for analyzing such ulti-scale signals. Wavelet analysis examples of backscattered data from an open- ended waveguide cavity are presented. The different scattering mechanisms are clearly resolved in the wavelet-domain representation. In the wavelet transform domain, the moment method impedance matrix becomes sparse and sparse matrix algorithms can be utilized to solve the resulting matrix equationl. Using the fast wavelet transform in conjunction with the conjugate gradient method, we present the time performance for the solution of a dihedral corner reflector. The total computational time is found to be reduced.

In the present study, domain decomposition using the substructuring method is developed for the computational efficiency of the finite element analysis of metal forming processes. In order to avoid calculation of an inverse matrix during the substructuring procedure, the modified Cholesky decomposition method is implemented. As obtaining the data independence by the substructuring method, the program is easily parallelized using the Parallel Virtual Machine(PVM) library on a workstation cluster connected on networks. A numerical example for a simple upsetting is calculated and the speed-up ratio with respect to various domain decompositions and number of processors. Comparing the results, it is concluded that the improvement of performance is obtained through the proposed method.
