  • In the Prestressed die design for cold working, many constraining conditions should be considered to insure the die safety and to improve the dimension accountancy products. Among the constraining conditions, yielding conditions, diameter ratios and interferences between rings are very important. . In this paper, therefore, flexible tolerance method was used in order to search the optimum values of design variables. The maximum inner pressure is used as objective function in this numerical analysis. In the design Process, it was also involved the safety factor to the yield strength of each ring by considering the allowable tensile or compressive hoop stress in each ring. The proposed technique has been applied to the die design of backward extrusion process, and it's analytical results have been compared with that of the conventional design method.

  • Transplanting process during the tissue culture of potato seedlings is costly, since the cost of highly skilled labor working in the sanitary environment takes up about 60-70% of the production cost. The objective of this study was to develop a soft gripper of a transplanting robot system for the labor-saving tissue culture. The prototype of the soft gripper was consisted of power-transmitting part finger and plant contacts. The power transmitting part transformed the rotating motion of a step motor to the reciprocating motion of the finger. Plant stems used in the test were potato seedlings cultured for six weeks. The dimensional characteristics of cultured seedlings, the compressive strengths of the stems, the extractive force from the culture medium and the gripping force of the finger were measured. A proper gripping force was found to be 0.343N at the extractive force of 0.41N when the plant contacts were made of silicon. Sixteen plants out of 70 trials were tangled with others, resulting in the success rate of 77.1%.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluated the effects of added expanded polystyrene on the basic properties of UP mortar. Polyester resin mortars are prepared with expanded polystyrene ratio in styrene monomer (EPS/PS), and the ratio of total polystyrene resin to UP resin (PS/UP). And it is tested for viscosity of UP resin added PS resin, slump-flow test, working life, flexural and compressive strengths, and curing shrinkage test. From the test result, Viscosity of resin for polymer mortar increases with increasing PS content. Curing shrinkage of UP mortar is considerably smaller than that of plain UP mortar, nevertheless, reduction in the strengths is not recognized according to adding PS resin. In this study, we can obtain the optimum mix proportions of polymer mortar using PS resin.

  • Cracks in reinforced concrete members are important element in structural analysis and design. It is clear from the test results that shear strength of cracked member is remarkably degraded compared with uncracked one. However, considerable amount of shear resistance by such mechanisms as aggregate interlock and dowel action is still active. There are various approaches to shear transfer estimation including finite element analysis, fracture mechanics, upper bound theory of plasticity, etc., but working out comprehensive and consistent models and manageable equations is rather difficult and remains to be improved. Shear transfer problems under cyclic loading and effective compressive strength of cracked concrete have not been adequately investigated and need further systematic research.

  • Prepacked polymer mortar that is mainly composed of MMA monomer and used for the patching and restoring materials of concrete structures was developed, and its hardening and strength properties were experimentally surveyed. Results of study show that the permeance of binder into the aggregate was excellent for the case of PMMA mixing ratio of below 10%, the surface hardening inferiority was not generated for the case of the ratio of over 5%. Working time of the prepacked polymer mortar and hardening shrinkage tended to decrease as the PMMA mixing ratio increased. On the other hand, the ratio turned out not to decisively affect on compressive and flexural strengths. Regardless of PMMA mixing content, the adhesive strength was about 2.5 MPa. Occurring the desquamation on the substrate of cement concrete showed the adhesive strength of MMA prepact polymer mortar was excellent.

  • Nursing often requires heavy physical work activities such as lifting heavy loads, working in awkward postures, transferring patients, operating hazardous equipment, etc. Among various nursing tasks, patients transferring is one of the most physically demanding tasks. This study aims to investigate workload of the patients transferring, and to propose its improving methods for reducing high workload. The results showed that irrespective of methods for patients transferring and the number of workers involved, workload for most patients transferring tasks exceeded the action limit represented in terms of L5/SI compressive force of 3,400N or LI of 1.0 by NIOSH. The loads for some tasks were far larger than the maximum permissible limit of 6,400N. It is recommended that the mechanical devices for transferring patients such as ceiling crane, sling lift etc. should be introduced rather than simply increasing the number of workers in the tasks.

  • Resultant compressions on the L5/S1 joint of six subjects were studied as they lif- ted light weights in sitting and standing work postures. The subjects activities were photographed and analysed later by a static biomechamical computer model. Statistically significant differences were found between the result of the two postures analyses. Sitting posture showed significantly high compressions on the joint when doing several material handling tasks having the same work loads from the hip joint. Therefore, it is recommended that working with light weights in standing is less hazardous than doint the same work sitting postures, although both the maximum compression forces are under the Action Limit suggested by NIOSH.

  • Theoretical definitions of mixed behavior of PE panel and connote should have preceded to cause a mixed behavior of connote and polyethylene which have different elastic module, one-line expansion coefficients, poison ratios, compressive strengths and tensile strengths. Consequently, changes are analyzed through experiment process to identify the effects on interpretation of mixed behavior on the basis of temperature change of structures, temperature rise of concrete other than PE panel due to hydration heat temperature rise of concrete other than PE panel due to drying and contraction, working of hydrostatic pressure by storage and temperature gradient From the results of interpretation of the analysis, it is concluded that PE panel have slight influences on the change of guess of structures and maintains structural stability compared with concrete structures without PE panel.

  • We investigated the RF sputtering conditions for the deposition of AZO (Al doped ZnO) transparent conducting film on PET using the roll to roll vacuum coater. AZO thin films, sputtered at the various RF powers and working pressures, were studied for their structural, electrical and optical properties.. From the X-Ray diffraction patterns, we calculated the lattice stress using the Bragg equation. The compressive stress tends to decrease with the increase in film thickness. AZO thin film with the thickness of 152nm (1400W, 0.4Pa) exhibit the resistivity of $3.92*10-3{\Omega}/cm$ and the transmittance of 96.9% at 550nm.
