  • The effects of water-cement ratio, age, and admixture such as fly ash, silica fume on the bond strength between aggregate and mortar were investigated. As the result, with increasing of water-cement ratio, the bond strength was slightly decreased while the compressive strengths of mortar and concrete were seriously decreased. The rate of strength gain of bond strength was not decreased with increasing of water-cement ratio while that of compressive strength was gradually decreased.

  • In this study, a series of soil concrete mixtures were tested for the compressive strength according to ratio of aggregate to binder, compaction energy, maximum aggregate size, ratio of silica fume to cement, and ratio of water to binder. The optimum mixing ratio of soil concrete mixtures composed of volcaniclastic, cement, silica fume, concrete polymer and water were analysed. The test results for optimum proportion were as follows ; (1)ratio of aggregate to binder was 4 : 1, (2)compaction energy level was level 2, (3)maximum aggregate size was 13 mm, (4)ratio of silica fume to cement was 10%, (5)ratio of water to binder was 25%. Also, dry type construction techniques were applied using the optimum soil concrete mixture. From the results of this study, the compressive strength of soil concrete and construction techniques were suitable for making eco-friendly soil pavement.

  • This study intends to examine the characteristics of compressive behavior and conducts comparative analysis between normal compressive strength under existing equations (LRFD, ACI 318, EC 4) and experimental the maximum compressive strength from the compression experiment for the unstiffened steel plate-concrete structures. The six specimens were made to evaluate the constraining factor (${\xi}$) and width ratio (${\beta}$) effects subjected to the compressive monotonic loading. Based on this experiments, the following conclusions could be made: first, compressive behaviors of the specimens from the finite element analysis closely agreed with the ones from the actual experiments; second, the higher the width ratio (${\beta}$) was, the lower the ductility index (DI) was; and third, the test results showed the maximum compressive strength with a margin by 7% compared to the existing codes.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the properties of unconfined compressive strength(UCS) of dry soil which was reinforced with short polypropylene fiber(SPPF). And the results were summarized as follows: 1. As water content was increased, unconfined compressive strength and strain of dry soil with no fiber added were decreased 2. As mixing ratio of fiber was increased, unconfined compressive strength and strain at failure of dry soil reinforced with SPPF were increased. 3. When mixing ratio was larger than 0.5%, unconfined compressive strength was gradually increased. 4. The longer fiber was, the larger post peak strength was obtained and the larger strain was reached.

  • When fresh concrete is exposed to sufficiently low temperature, the free water in the concrete is cooled below its freezing point and transforms into ice, which causes decrease in compressive strength of concrete. Of the many influencing factors on the loss of compressive strength, the age of concrete at the beginning of freezing, water-cement ratio, and cement-type are significantly important. The objective of this study is to examine how the these factors affect the compressive strength of concrete frozen at early ages. The results from the tests showed that as age at the beginning of freezing is delayed and water-cement ratio is low, the loss of compressive strength decreases. In addition, concrete made with high-early-strength cement is less susceptible to frost damage than concrete made with ordinary portland cement.

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain the strength properties of water-permeable concrete with redispersible polymer powder, silica fume and polypropylene fibers. The water-permeable concrete using rediapersibel polymer powder with a water-cement ratio of 25%, polymer-cement ratios of 0 to 10%, silica fume contents of 0 to 10% and fiber contents of 0 to 1.5% are prepared, and tested for flexural strength, compressive strength and water permeability. From the test results, improvements in the strength properties of the water-permeable concrete due to the addition of the redispersible polymer powder, silica fume and fibers are discussed. It is concluded from the test results that the superior flexural and compressive strengths of water-permeable concretes are obtained at a propylene fiber content of 1.0% with a void filling ratio of 50%. And, the water-permeable concrete having a flexural strength of 15.6~28.4kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, a compressive strength of 63.5~120.6kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and a coefficient of permeability of 1.14~1.70cm/s at a void filling ratio of 30% can be prepared. Also water-permeable concrete having a flexural strength of 35.6~57.9kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, a compressive strength of 164.0~290.0kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and a coefficient of permeability of 0.19~1.04cm/s at a void filling ratio of 50% can be prepared in the consideration of the mix proprotioning factors.

  • This study was carried out to investigate quantitatively the relationship between the water binder ratio and the concrete strength using finely ground granulated furnace blast slag. In the experiment, the compressive strength and elastic modulus of concrete which slag contents are 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% at 7days and 28days age. As a result, the compressive strength have a high correlation with slag contents and water binder ratio. Thus, it is possible to calculate the water binder ratio using compressive strength of concrete contented with slag.

  • With increasing use of high strength concrete tied columns in structural engineering, it becomes necessary to examine the applicability of related sections of current design codes. High strength concrete has an advantage of strength capacity and stiffness especially for column elements. This paper presents an experimental study of high strength concrete tied columns subjected to eccentric loading. The main variables included in this test were concrete compressive strength, steel amount, eccentricity, and slenderness ratio. The concrete compressive strength varied from 34.9Mpa(356kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ ) to 93.2Mpa(951kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ ) and the longitudinal steel ratios were between 1.1% and 5.5%. The eccentricity was selected for the different failure modes, i.e., compression control, balanced point, and tension control. The slenderness ratio varied from 19 to 61. The column specimens with same slenderness ratio but with different concrete compressive strength were constructed and tested. The purpose of this paper is to show failure modes of high strength reinforced concrete columns.

  • In this paper, to make ultra-high strength SFRCC with the range of compressive strength 180MPa, it was investigated the constitute factors of ultra-high strength SFRCC influenced on the compressive strength. The experimental variables were water-cementitious ratio, replacement of silica fume, size and proportion of sand, type and replacement of filling powder, and using of steel fiber in ultra-high strength SFRCC. As a result, in water-binder ratio 0.18, we could make ultra-high strength SFRCC with compressive strength 180MPa through using of silica fume, quartz sand with below 0.5mm, filling powder and steel fiber.

  • To investigate the properties of high flowing and high strength concrete with crushed sand and fly ash for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method. In the experiment W/B was set up three levels as 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35. Also the variables of the experiment were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens(3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The effect a substitution ratio of fly ash on the compressive strength was not consistent with age. For twenty-eight day compressive strength, the best result was come out when cement was substituted by 10% of fly ash. 2) The decrease of the water binder ratio, the increase of compressive strength and elastic modulus. Also the relationship is very similar to the case of a normal concrete
