In this study, size effect tests were conducted on axial compressive strength of concrete members. An experiment of Mode I failure, which is one of two representative compressive failure modes, was carried out by using dimensionally proportional cylindrical specimens (CS). An adequate notch length was taken from the experimental results obtained from the compressive strength experiment of various initial notch lengths. Utilizing the notch length, specimen sizes were then varied. In addition, new parameters for the modified size effect law (MSEL) were suggested using Levenberg-Marquardt's least square method (LSM). The test results show that size effect was apparent for axial compressive strength of cracked specimens. Namely, the effect of initial notch length on axial compressive strength size effect was apparent.
This study intends to examine the characteristics of compressive behavior and conducts comparative analysis between normal compressive strength under existing equations (LRFD, ACI 318, EC 4) and experimental the maximum compressive strength from the compression experiment for the unstiffened steel plate-concrete structures. The six specimens were made to evaluate the constraining factor (${\xi}$) and width ratio (${\beta}$) effects subjected to the compressive monotonic loading. Based on this experiments, the following conclusions could be made: first, compressive behaviors of the specimens from the finite element analysis closely agreed with the ones from the actual experiments; second, the higher the width ratio (${\beta}$) was, the lower the ductility index (DI) was; and third, the test results showed the maximum compressive strength with a margin by 7% compared to the existing codes.

Though polymer cement mortar is widely used to repair or reinforce concrete as it has superior adhesion, dense internal structure, chemical resistance, and workability in comparison to those of general cement mortar, studies on its behaviors in high temperature environment such as fire is urgently required. Accordingly, in this experiment, the degrees of reduction in the compressive strength at different temperatures was grasped applying ISO834 Heating Curve, and the effect of polymer content and type on compressive strength could be determined. As a result of this experiment, it is found that polymer type and content have a big effect on reduction of compressive strength in high temperature range, and not only the dynamic characteristics but also the combustion characteristics in high temperature range are required to be studied considering occurrence of a fire in the future.

Predicting the compressive strength of concrete is important for shortening construction time and reducing construction costs. In this study, the coefficients required for maturity method and compressive strength prediction equation were calculated by measuring the cement hydration reaction rate, concrete setting time and ultimate strength. The experiment was conducted in an isothermal environment of 10℃, 20℃ and 30℃ using a normal Portland cement, and the experiment was conducted with a total of 9 levels of W/C (40%, 50%, 60%) of 3 levels for each temperature. As a result of comparing the predicted strength and the measured strength for each blend, only an error of less than 5% was found for all blending and curing periods.
The axial compressive strength of unidirectional FRP is generally quite lower than its axial tensile strength. This fact decreases the advantages of FRP as main load bearing member in engineering structure. In order to restrain the lateral expansion and splitting of GFRP, and accordingly heighten its axial compressive bearing capacity, a project that to confine GFRP pole with surrounding CFRP sheet is suggested in the present study. The Experiment on the CFRP sheet confined GFRP poles showed that a combined structure of high bearing capacity was attained. Basing on the experiment research a theoretical iterative calculation approach is suggested to predict the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure, and the predicted results agree well with the experimental results. Then the influences of geometrical parameters on the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure are also analyzed basing on this approach.

The size effect of axial compressive strength of concrete in notched specimens was experimentally investigated. Based on the concept of the fracture mechanics and size effect law, theoretical studies for axial compressive failure of concrete were reviewed, and two failure modes of concrete specimen under compression were discussed. In this study, experiment of axial compressive failure, which is one of the two failure modes, was carried out by using double cantilever fracture specimens. By varying the slenderness of cantilevers and the eccentricity of applied loads with respect to the axis of each cantilever, the size effect of axial compressive strength of concrete was investigated, and predicted by Bazant's size effect law. The test results show that size effect appears conspicuously for all series of specimens. For the eccentricity of loads, the influence of tensile and compressive stress at the notch tip are significant and so that the size effect is varied. In other words, if the influence of tensile stress at the notch tip grows up, the size effect of concrete increases. And the fact that the fracture process zone must be sufficiently secured for more accurate experiment was affirmed.

The strength of concrete depends on factors of materials, composition and manufacturing method. Among these factors, preparatory experiments are to consider and analyze the factors on compressive strength of ultra-high strength concrete according to types of aggregate, binder content, water-binder ratio, and curing methods. And the final experiment to develop the ultra-high strength over 3,000kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ is based on these preparatory experiments. As the result of this final expriment. We could manufacture the ultra-high strength concrete with a marvelous compressive strength concrete with a marvelous compressive strength of 3,116kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. This study is to compare and analyze the manufacturing system of ultra-high strength concrete of 3,116kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strength in the side of material development of construction industry.

1) As a result of compressive strength experiment, rupture compressive strength showed more increases in specimens of 15% and 20% of Cockle shells in those of non-mixture. Comparing compressive strength between no-mixed Specimens and Specimens of containing Cockle shells, Specimens containing Cockle shells showed higher strength in 60 days and 90 days of age, and as ark Cockle is contained and age is elapsed, compressive strength is also increased In addition, estimation of compressive strength by reactive hardness in concrete using Cockle shells as aggregate shows low reliability. 2) As a result of experimenting compressive strength after heating, Specimens containing Cockle shells and non-mixed Specimens showed similar strength at $200^{\circ}C$, but compressive strength was lowered as content of Cockle shells increased at over $400^{\circ}C$ and heating temperature was higher. It is because Cockle shells was fired by heat and then its adhesion and bonding capacity were lost. 3) To sum up the above experimental results, it is found that using splitted Cockle shells as aggregate for concrete by 10%~20% showed the same or higher compressive strength and shear strength as concretes using general aggregate and it can be used as substitute aggregate of concrete. It is considered that for future use of splitted Cockle shells as substitute concrete aggregate, continuous researches of its durability, applicability and economy are needed.

To investigate the properties of high flowing and high strength concrete with crushed sand and fly ash for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method. In the experiment W/B was set up three levels as 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35. Also the variables of the experiment were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens(3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The effect a substitution ratio of fly ash on the compressive strength was not consistent with age. For twenty-eight day compressive strength, the best result was come out when cement was substituted by 10% of fly ash. 2) The decrease of the water binder ratio, the increase of compressive strength and elastic modulus. Also the relationship is very similar to the case of a normal concrete

This study is conducted an experiment to unifyprovide a method to estimate the method of measuring the condensationsetting time and estimating the initialearly age compressive strength using the existingD type ddurometer. into a single device and to adopt the best estimation guidelines of the estimator. As a result of the experiment, Test results indicated that it is analyzed that the use of D type Durometer attached with modified needle, which was designed to secure improved accuracy in setting and compressive strength, enables to estimate it is possible to estimate the condensationsetting time of mortar and estimate the compressive strength ofat early age. the initial age when the estimation No. 2 is adopted for the Durometer D type.
