Optimization Study on the Formulation of Roxithromycin Dispersible Tablet Using Experimental Design

  • This study set out to improve the physical and pharmaceutical characteristics of the present formulation using an appropriate experimental design. The work described here concerns the formulation of the dispersible tablet applying direct compression method containing roxithromycin in the form of coated granules. In this study $2^3$ factorial design was used as screening test model and Central Composite Design (CCC) associated with response surface methodology was used as optimization study model to develop and to optimize the proper formulation of roxithromycin dispersible tablet. The three independent variables investigated were functional excipients like binder (X1), disintegrant (X2) and lubricant (X3). The effects of these variables were investigated on the following responses: hardness (Y1), friability (Y2) and disintegration time (Y3) of tablet. Three replicates at the center levels of the each design were used to independently calculate the experimental error and to detect any curvature in the response surface. This enabled the best formulations to be selected objectively. The effect order of each term to all response variable was X3> X2> Xl> X1*X2> X2*X2> X2*X3> X3*X3> Xl*X3> Xl*Xl and model equations on each response variables were generated. Optimized compositions of formula were accordingly computed using those model equations and confirmed by following demonstration study. As a result, this study has demonstrated the efficiency and effectiveness of using a systematic formulation optimization process to develop the tablet formulation of roxithromycin dispersible tablet with limited experiment.

  • 디지털 워터마킹 기술은 표준화된 저작권 정보의 확립과 함께 건전한 디지털 정보의 유통을 위해서 반드시 요구되는 기술로 평가받고 있다. 워터마크 방법은 데이터 압축과 같은 영상처리에 의해서 쉽게 워터마크 정보가 손실되는 문제점이 있으므로 디지털 워터마킹의 최우선 과제는 일반적인 영상처리에 의해 워터마크된 영상이 다양한 공격을 받더라도 소유권 주장을 할 수 있는 강인성이 요구된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이산 웨이브렛 변환을 이용해서 그레이-레벨 워터마크 영상을 원영상에 비시각적으로 삽입하면서 강인성을 유지시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 대부분 워터마킹 방법은 원영상에 비해 매우 작은 워터마크 데이터 또는 2진 영상 로고 데이터를 이용했지만, 제안한 방법은 256$\times$256 그레이-레벨 영상을 삽입시킬 수 있는 방법이다. 시험결과 Low-pass Filter, JPEG압축과 같은 공격에 대해서도 소유권을 주장할 수 있는 고화질 영상 데이터를 추출할 수 있었다.

Effect of pile group geometry on bearing capacity of piled raft foundations

  • This is an experimental study to investigate the behaviour of piled raft system in different types of sandy soil. A small scale "prototype" model was tested in a sand box with load applied to the foundation through a compression jack and measured by means of load cell. The settlement was measured at the raft by means of dial gauges, three strain gauges were attached on piles to measure the strains and calculate the load carried by each pile in the group. Nine configurations of group ($1{\times}2$, $1{\times}3$, $1{\times}4$, $2{\times}2$, $2{\times}3$, $2{\times}4$, $3{\times}3$, $3{\times}4$ and $4{\times}4$) were tested in the laboratory as a free standing pile group (the raft not in contact with the soil) and as a piled raft (the raft in contact with the soil), in addition to tests for raft (unpiled) with different sizes. It is found that when the number of piles within the group is small (less than 4), there is no evident contribution of the raft to the load carrying capacity. The failure load for a piled raft consisting of 9 piles is approximately 100% greater than free standing pile group containing the same number of piles. This difference increases to about 4 times for 16 pile group. The piles work as settlement reducers effectively when the number of piles is greater than 6 than when the number of piles is less than 6. The settlement can be increased by about 8 times in ($1{\times}2$) free standing pile group compared to the piled raft of the same size. The effect of piled raft in reducing the settlement vanishes when the number of piles exceeds 6.

Performance of fly ash stabilized clay reinforced with human hair fiber

  • Industrialization and urbanization are the two phenomena that are going relentless all over the world. The consequence of this economic success has been a massive increase in waste on one hand and increasing demand for suitable sites for construction on the other. Owing to the surplus raw materials and energy requirement needed for manufacturing synthetic fibers, applications of waste fibers for reinforcing soils evidenced to offer economic and environmental benefits. The main objective of the proposed work is to explore the possibilities of improving the strength of soil using fly ash waste as an admixture and Human Hair Fiber (HHF) as reinforcement such that they can be used for construction of embankments and land reclamation projects. The effect of fiber content on soil - fly ash mixture was observed through a series of laboratory tests such as compaction tests, CBR and unconfined compression tests. From the stress - strain curves, it was observed that the UCC strength for the optimised soil - flyash mixture reinforced with 0.75% human hair fibers is nearly 2.85 times higher than that of the untreated soil. Further, it has been noticed that there is about 7.73 times increase in CBR for the reinforced soil compared to untreated soil. This drastic increase in strength may be due to the fact that HHF offer more pull-out resistance which makes the fibers act like a bridge to prevent further cracking and thereby it improves the toughness which in turn prevent the brittle failure of soil-flyash specimen. Hence, the test results reveal that the inclusion of randomly distributed HHF in soil significantly improves the engineering properties of soil and can be effectively utilized in pavements. SEM analysis explained the change of microstructures and the formation of hydration products that offered increase in strength and it was found to be in accordance with strength tests.

Finite element modeling of corroded RC beams using cohesive surface bonding approach

  • The modeling of loss of bond between reinforcing bars (rebars) and concrete due to corrosion is useful in studying the behavior and prediction of residual load bearing capacity of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) members. In the present work, first the possibility of using different methods to simulate the rebars-concrete bonding, which is used in three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) modeling of corroded RC beams, was explored. The cohesive surface interaction method was found to be most suitable for simulating the bond between rebars and concrete. Secondly, using the cohesive surface interaction approach, the 3D FE modeling of the behavior of non-corroded and corroded RC beams was carried out in an ABAQUS environment. Experimental data, reported in literature, were used to validate the models. Then using the developed models, a parametric study was conducted to examine the effects of some parameters, such as degree and location of the corrosion, on the behavior and residual capacity of the corroded beams. The results obtained from the parametric analysis using the developed model showed that corrosion in top compression rebars has very small effect on the flexural behaviors of beams with small flexural reinforcement ratio that is less than the maximum ratio specified in ACI-318-14 (singly RC beam). In addition, the reduction of steel yield strength in tension reinforcement due to corrosion is the main source of reducing the load bearing capacity of corroded RC beams. The most critical corrosion-induced damage is the complete loss of bond between rebars and the concrete as it causes sudden failure and the beam acts as un-reinforced beam.

  • The reciprocating compressor is widely used in the industry field, because it has simple principle and high efficiency. In this work, in order to improve design of discharge passage line in hydrogen compression system Numerical analysis was conducted. General information about an internal gas flow is presented by numerical analysis approach. Relating with hydrogen compressing system, which have an important role in hydrogen energy utilization, this should be a useful tool to observe the flow quickly and clearly. Flow characteristic analysis, including velocity, pressure and turbulence kinetic energy distribution of hydrogen gas going out from the cylinder to discharge-path line are presented in this paper. Discharge-passage model is designed based on real model of hydrogen compressor. Pressure boundary conditions are applied considering the real condition of operating system. The result shows velocity, pressure and turbulent kinetic energy are not distributed uniformly along the passage of the Hydrogen system. Path line or particles tracks help to demonstrate flow characteristics inside the passage. The existence of vortices and flow direction can be precisely predicted. Based on this result, the design improvement might be done.

EGR 제어를 통한 디젤 및 바이오디젤의 저온연소 특성 비교 (Comparisons of Low Temperature Combustion Characteristics between Diesel and Biodiesel According to EGR control)

  • Due to the oxygen contents in biodiesel, application of the fuel to compression ignition engines has significant advantages in terms of lowering PM formation in the combustion chamber. In recent days, considerable studies have been performed to extend the low temperature combustion regime in diesel engines by applying biodiesel fuel. In this work, low temperature combustion characteristics of biodiesel blends in dilution controlled regime were investigated at a fixed engine operating condition in a single cylinder diesel engine, and the comparisons of engine performances and emission characteristics between biodiesel and conventional diesel fuel were carried out. Results show that low temperature combustion can be achieved at $O_2$ concentration of around 7~8% for both biodiesel and diesel fuels. Especially, by use of biodiesel, noticeable reduction (maximum 50% of smoke was observed at low and middle loads compared to conventional diesel fuel. In addition, THC(total hydrocarbon) and CO(Carbon monoxide) emissions decreased by substantial amounts for biodiesel fuel. Results also indicate that even though about 10% loss of engine power as well as 14% increase of fuel consumption rate was observed due to lower LHV(lower heating value) of biodiesel, thermal efficiencies for biodiesel fuel were slightly elevated because of power recovery phenomenon.

GaN 나노와이어의 인장 변형에 의한 열기계적 거동 해석 (Analysis on Thermomechanical Response to Tensile Deformation of GaN Nanowires)

  • 본 연구에서는 GaN 나노와이어의 인장, 압축, 하중 제거 전산모사를 분자동역학 방법을 통하여 수행하였고, 평형 분자동역학 방법인 Green-Kubo 방법을 이용하여 각각의 변형된 구조의 나노와이어의 열전도율을 구하였다. 단면의 형상이 육각형이고, 길이 방향이 [0001] 격자 방향으로 형성된 나노와이어에 인장 하중이 작용하게 되면 나노와이어의 원자 구조는 초기의 wurtzite 구조에서 정방정계 구조로 변형된다. 초기 상태에 압축 하중이 작용하는 경우에는 상변이 현상은 나타나지 않는다. 압축에서 인장으로 변형률이 증가함에 따라 나노와이어의 열전도율은 감소하는 경향을 나타낸다. 이 같은 열전도율의 변화는 변형률에 따른 포논의 감쇠시간 감소에 의한 것이다. 인장에 의해 변형된 정방정계 구조의 나노와이어에서 인장 하중을 제거하는 경우에는 초기의 wurtzite 구조로의 역상변이 현상이 나타나고, 이와 같은 역상변이 과정에 wurtzite 구조와 정방정계 구조가 동시에 나타나는 중간 단계가 존재한다. 중간 단계의 열전도율은 같은 변형률에서 wurtzite 구조일 때보다 낮은 특성을 갖는다. 내부 원자 구조에 따른 열전도율의 차이는 구조적 변형에 의한 포논의 군속도 변화에 따른 것이다.

H.264/AVC 비트율 제어를 위한 R-Q 모델링 (R-Q Modeling for H.264/AVC Rate Control)

  • 비디오 코딩에서 GOP의 첫 번째 프레임인 I 프레임은 많은 비트를 발생시키는 인트라 모드로 압축되고 다음 프레임의 인터 모드 압축에 사용되기 때문에 I 프레임을 위한 초기 QP 값은 I 프레임뿐만 아니라 이후 프레임에도 영향을 주게 된다. 이전 연구에서 정확한 초기 QP 계산을 위해 I 프레임의 압축 후 비트량을 분석하였고, GOP의 PSNR을 최대로 하는 I 프레임의 비트량이 GOP에 상관없이 일정한 값을 가짐을 보였다. 본 논문에서는 기존 방법을 이용하여 최적의 I 프레임 비트량을 계산한 후 이 값을 이용하여 초기 QP를 계산할 수 있는 R-Q 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 모델은 간단하면서도 적응적으로 모델 파라미터를 수정하기 때문에 실시간 응용에 적합하다. 실험 결과는 제안하는 모델이 초기 QP 계산에 필요한 트래픽 특성을 잘 반영하고 있으며 또한 실시간으로 모델 파라미터를 구하는 방법도 효과적으로 작동함을 보여준다.

부분키 기법과 압축 기법을 혼용한 주기억장치 상주형 다차원 색인 구조 (A Main Memory-resident Multi-dimensional Index Structure Employing Partial-key and Compression Schemes)

  • 최근 중앙처리장치와 주기억장치간의 병목 현상에 의한 성능 저하를 극복하기 위해 캐시를 고려한 색인 구조들이 제안되었다. 이런 색인 구조들의 궁극적인 목표는 엔트리 크기를 줄여 팬-아웃(fan-out)을 증가시키고, 캐시 접근 실패를 최소화하여 시스템의 성능을 높이는 것이다. 엔트리의 크기를 줄이는 기법에 따라 기존의 색인 구조들을 두 가지로 구분할 수 있다. 하나는 좌표 값을 고정된 비트로 양자화 함으로써, MBR 키를 압축하는 것이다. 또 다른 하나는 MBR들의 각 좌표 값 중에 그들의 부모 MBR과 같지 않은 좌표 값만을 저장하는 것이다. 우선, 본 논문에서는 두 기법의 특성들을 적절히 조합한 새로운 색인 구조를 제안하고, 기존에 제시된 두 접근법을 따르는 주기억장치 상주형 다차원 색인 구조를 다양한 환경에서 성능 평가한다. 또한, 기존의 색인 구조와 비교를 통해 제안하는 색인 구조의 우수성을 보인다.
