암석내의 균열전파에 따른 유효탄성계수의 변화 (Changes of Effective Elastic Moduli due to Crack Growth in Rock)

  • 균열모형을 이용하여 압축 하중하에 있는 암석의 비선형 거동을 예측하는 것은 가능하다. 암석내의 균열의 성장은 암석의 이방성을 가져오며, 이러한 이방성의 정도는 단성계수의 변화로 표현될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 균열의 성장에 따른 탄성계수의 변화를 이론적인 균열모형을 통해 예측하고, 이를 탄성파 속도 시험을 통해 구한 탄성계수와의 비교를 수행하였다. 또한, 균열모형에 사용되는 초기 암석내 존재하는 균열에 대한 정보는 암석표면의 이미지를 분석하여 구하였다.

  • A magnetosonic wave is a longitudinal wave propagating perpendicularly to the magnetic fields and involves compression and rarefaction of the plasma. Lee and Kim (2000) investigated the theoretical solution for the evolution of nonlinear magnetosonic waves in the homogeneous space which adopt the approach of simple waves. We confirm the solution using a one-dimensional MHD code with Total Variation Diminishing (TVD) scheme. Then we apply the solution for the solar wind profiles. We examined the properties of nonlinear waves for the various initial perturbations at near the Lagrangian (L1) point. Also we describe waves steepening process while the shock is being formed by assuming different timescales for a driving source.

Comparison of Turbulence Models in Shock-Wave/ Boundary- Layer Interaction

  • This paper presents a comparative study of a fully coupled, upwind, compressible Navier-Stokes code with three two-equation models and the Baldwin-Lomax algebraic model in predicting transonic/supersonic flow. The k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model of Abe performed well in predicting the pressure distributions and the velocity profiles near the flow separation over the axisymmetric bump, even though there were some discrepancies with the experimental data in the shear-stress distributions. Additionally, it is noted that this model has y$\^$*/ in damping functions instead of y$\^$+/. The turbulence model of Abe and Wilcox showed better agreements in skin friction coefficient distribution with the experimental data than the other models did for a supersonic compression ramp problem. Wilcox's model seems to be more reliable than the other models in terms of numerical stability. The two-equation models revealed that the redevelopment of the boundary layer was somewhat slow downstream of the reattachment portion.

  • It is very important for impact analysis to reflect the dynamic characteristics of materials as well as the static characteristics. As the dynamic behavior of a material is different from the static(or quasi-static) one due to the inertia effect and the stress wave propagation, an adequate experimental technique has to be developed to obtain the dynamic responses for the corresponding level of the strain rate. To determine the dynamic characteristics of materials, the Hopkinson bar (compression type) experiment is carried out.   • The binding energies of the ground state of both the heavy-hole and light-hole excitons in a GaAs(In\ulcornerGa\ulcornerAs) quantum well sandwiched between two semi-infinite Al\ulcornerGa\ulcornerAs(InP) layers are calculated as a function of well width in the presence of an arbitray magnetic field. A variational approach is followed using very simple trial wave function. The applied magnetic field is assumed to be parallel to the axis of growth and the binding energies are calculated for a finite value of the height of the potential barrier. The exciton binding energies for a given value of the magnetic field are found to be increased than their values in a zero magnetic field due to the compression of their wave functions within the well with the applied magnetic field.

An Improvement Algorithm for the Image Compression Imaging

  • Lines and textures are natural properties of the surface of natural objects, and their images can be sparsely represented in suitable frames such as wavelets, curvelets and wave atoms. Based on characteristics that the curvelets framework is good at expressing the line feature and wavesat is good at representing texture features, we propose a model for the weighted sparsity constraints of the two frames. Furtherly, a multi-step iterative fast algorithm for solving the model is also proposed based on the split Bergman method. By introducing auxiliary variables and the Bergman distance, the original problem is transformed into an iterative solution of two simple sub-problems, which greatly reduces the computational complexity. Experiments using standard images show that the split-based Bergman iterative algorithm in hybrid domain defeats the traditional Wavelets framework or curvelets framework both in terms of timeliness and recovery accuracy, which demonstrates the validity of the model and algorithm in this paper.

충격관을 이용한 $C_2H_2$의 폭굉특성연구 (A Study on the Detonation Characteristics of $C_2H_2$in Shock Tube)

  • Detonation phenomena of $C_2H_2$were invesgated using the various shock tube. To study the detonation characteristics according to the composition of $C_2H_2-0_2$$_2$ and $C_2H_2$-air mixtures, the composition were varied from 5 to 90% and 5 to 50% of acetylene each other. A spiral ring was installed in the shock tube to study the effect of obstacles in DDT phenomena. Detonation velocities were measured using the photodiode, and the DDT phenomena was visualized using the high speed schlieren photograph. From the experimental result, it was found that the detonation velocity was most high near the 1. 8times the stoichiometric ratio of acetylene. And from the visualization of DDT phenomena, it was found that the detonation wave was strengthened throuth the pile up of small compression wave of burned gas. And the obstacles in shock tube accelerate the detonation reaction by turblent effect of flammable gas mixture.

KTX차량 내외부의 압력변동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Internal and External Pressure Variation for KTX)

  • A study is conducted to clarify internal and external pressure variation of passenger cabin for KTX. These pressure variation may give rise to the ear-discomfort for passenger and fatigue for carbody. In this study, the pressure variation of interior, gangway and exterior of KTX passenger car is measured by using the atmospheric pressure sensors and portable data acquisition system. The tunnel from 4000m to 200m in length are chosen far the investigation of tunnel length effects. From the results of experiment, the pressure variation of interior per second is under the ear-discomfort limitation in all of tunnel. And, We found that there are similar patterns of exterior pressure variation for each critical tunnel length. These results generally agree to RTRI's experimental result fur Shinkansen.

  • When a high-speed train enters a tunnel, a compression wave is generated ahead of the train and propagates along the tunnel. This wave subsequently emerges form the exit portal of the tunnel, which causes an impulsive noise. In the present study, experimental investigation is carried out on the sonic boom noise with parameters of train speed, blockage ratio, nose shape of train and airshaft. These experimental results show that several countermeasures could be used to efficiently reduce the sonic boom. In addition, numerical analysis is performed to predict the sonic boom. The predicted sound waves are in a good agreement with the experimental results.
