With the recent development of hardware computing devices and software based frameworks, machine tasks using deep learning networks are expected to be utilized in various industrial fields and personal IoT devices. However, in order to overcome the limitations of high cost device for utilizing the deep learning network and that the user may not receive the results requested when only the machine task results are transmitted from the server, Collaborative Intelligence (CI) proposed the transmission of feature maps as a solution. In this paper, an efficient compression method for feature maps with vast data sizes to support the CI paradigm was analyzed and presented through experiments. This method increases redundancy by applying feature map reordering to improve compression efficiency in traditional video codecs, and proposes a feature map method that improves compression efficiency and maintains the performance of machine tasks by simultaneously utilizing image compression format and video compression format. As a result of the experiment, the proposed method shows 14.29% gain in BD-rate of BPP and mAP compared to the feature compression anchor of MPEG-VCM.

Videos for 360-degree virtual reality (VR) systems have a large amount of data because they are made with several different videos from multiple cameras. To store the VR data in limited space or to transmit it through a channel with limited bandwidth, the data need to be compressed at a high ratio. This paper focuses on the compression efficiency of VR videos for good visual quality. Generally, 360-degree VR videos should be projected into the planer format to cope with modern video coding standards. Among various projection schemes, three typical schemes (equirectangular, line-cubic, and cross-cubic) are selected and compared in terms of compression efficiency and quality using various videos.
This paper suggests the CAMD(Compression Algorithm for in-Memory Data) algorithm that is not moved the pages into the swap space by assigning the compressed cache area in the main memory. The CAMD algorithm that supports the virtual memory system takes high memory usability and performance benefit by reducing the page fault. The memory data is not general data. It is extraordinary data format. In general it consists of specific form of data. Therefore. the CAMD algorithm can compress this data efficiently.
The MPEG-4 Audio Lossless Coding (ALS) standard belongs to the family MPEG-4 audio coding standards. In contrast to lossy codecs such as AAC, which merely strive to preserve the subjective audio quality, lossless coding preserves every single bit of the original audio data. The ALS core codec is based on forward-adaptive linear prediction, which combines remarkable compression with low complexity. Additional features include long-term prediction, multichannel coding, and compression of floating-point audio material. This paper describes the basic elements of the ALS codec with a focus on prediction, entropy coding, and related tools and points out the most important applications of this standardized lossless audio format.
With commencing trial 3D digital broadcasting, the studies on next generation digital broadcasting technology for coming UHDTV era is being actively progressing. In this paper, I propose surround audio formats for next-generation digital TV broadcasting, along with comparative study of major surround audio formats in use or under development. I did comparative study on current major competing surround formats such as Dolby True HD and DTS HD MA, along with NHK proposed 22.2 channel surround format for UHDTV system. Upon this comparative study and our housing situation consideration, I propose lossy compression 3D surround 7.1 channel surround format along with loosless 2.0 and 4.0 hi-fi format as next generation digital TV broadcasting standard. In lieu with this, I also propose transmitting binaural 2 channel audio data as sub-audio. It will give holographic sound experience when properly processed with individual HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) with headphone. The table for data rate of each proposed audio format is also presented.
Recently, Move Picture Files have the same file format and a compression technique as Window Media Video form. but Moving Pictures using file format and a compression technique have question about Motion blur and compressibility. In this paper, we design and Implement for new Move Picture Solution EZ-MOV using FLV different from developed FLV(Flash Video) in the Macromedia company. EZ-MOV have advantages as follow. first, FLV player is able to compact disk access time and DRM (Digital Rights Management) with a built-in self and unable to an illegal video recording, second, whenever WMV formal file encoded FLV are able to lossless compression to fifty percent, third, FLV is able to Moving Picture streaming no buffering. fourth, FLV file is able streaming service no streaming server. fifth, FLV file is able to streaming service keep pace with download and streaming. sixth, FLV file is able to full duplex service.

It is an important issue to compress huge holographic data in a digital format. In particular, research on the compression of phase-only holograms for commercialization is noteworthy. Conventional video coding standards optimized for natural images are not suitable for compressing phase signals, and neural network-based compression model that can be optimized for phase signals can achieve high performance, but has a memory issue in learning high-resolution holographic data. In this paper, we show that by applying a block-based learned image compression model that can solve memory problems to phase-only holograms, the proposed method can demonstrate significant performance improvement over standard codecs even under the same conditions as block-based. Block-based learned compression model can provide compatibility with conventional standard codecs, solve memory problems, and can perform significantly better against phase-only hologram compression.

The real world is spatially modelled conceptually either as discrete objects or earth surface. The generated data models are then usually represented as vector and raster respectively. Although there are limited cases where only one data model is sufficient to solve the spatial problem at hand, it is now generally accepted that GIS should be able to handle various types of data model. Recent advances in spatial technology introduced even more variety of heterogeneous data models and the need is ever growing to handle and manage efficiently these large variety of spatial data. The OGC (Open GIS Consortium), an international organization pursuing standardization in the geospatial industry. recently introduced the GMLJP2 (Geographic Mark-Up Language JP2) format which enables store and handle heterogeneous spatial data. The GMLJP2 format, which is based on the JP2 format which is an abbreviation for JPEG2000 wavelet image compression format, takes advantage of the versatility of the GML capabilities to add extra data on top of the compressed image. This study takes a close look into the GMLJP2 format to analyse and exploit its potential to handle and mange hetergeneous spatial data. Aerial image, digital map and LIDAR data were successfully transformed end archived into a single GMLJP2 file. A simple viewing program was made to view the heterogeneous spatial data from this single file.
Most mobile devices use a NAND flash memory as their secondary memory. A compressed code of the firmware is stored in the NAND flash memory of mobile devices in order to reduce the size and the loading time of the firmware from the NAND flash memory to a main memory. In order to use a demand paging properly, a compressed code should be decompressed very quickly. The thesis introduces a new dictionary based compression algorithm for the fast decompression. The introduced compression algorithm uses a different method with the current LZ method by storing the "exclusive or" value of the two instructions when the instruction for compression is not equal to the referenced instruction. Therefore, the thesis introduces a new compression format that minimizes the bit operation in order to improve the speed of decompression. The experimental results show that the decoding time is reduced up to 5 times and the compression ratio is improved up to 4% compared to the zlib. Moreover, the proposed compression method with the fast decoding time leads to 10-20% speed up of booting time compared to the booting time of the uncompressed method.
In a recent year, the broadcasting system has been changed from analogue to digital all over the world, not just in Korea, and Korea aims at accomplishing 100% digital broadcasting by 2013. The HD(High Definition) Video Format, which currently plays a key role in digital broadcasting system, has been gradually extended in the field of broadcasting and movie. Additionally, many kinds of camcoders and editing systems have been rapidly converted into the digital types, and they are supporting to photograph and video editing systems with the various types of image formats such as SD(Standard Definition) format, HD format, 2K, 4K, etc. Tape Video Storage System, which has been usually used in the stage of photographing by this day, is gradually evolving into Tapeless Video Data Storage System. Thus in this study, Video Compression method of HD format photographed by Sony PMW-EX3, one of major tapeless camcoders, is studied and also the way of applying it effectively in Avid Media Composer, a non-linear editing system, is discussed.
