Wet compression means the injection of water droplets into the compressor of gas turbines. This method decreases the compression work and increases the turbine output by decreasing the compressor exit temperature through the evaporation of water droplets inside the compressor. Researches on wet compression, up to now, have been focused on the thermodynamic analysis of wet compression where the decrease in exit flow temperature and compression work is demonstrated. This paper provides thermodynamic and aerodynamic analysis on wet compression in a centrifugal compressor for a microturbine. The meanline dry compression performance analysis of centrifugal compressor is coupled with the thermodynamic equation of wet compression to get the meanline performance of wet compression. The most influencing parameter in the analysis is the evaporative rate of water droplets. It is found that the impeller exit flow temperature and compression work decreases as the evaporative rate increases. And the exit flow angle decreases as the evaporative rate increases.

In this study, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) analysis is used to predict the compression strength of polypropylene fibre mixed concrete. Polypropylene fibre admixture increases the compression strength of concrete to a certain extent according to mix proportion. This proportion and homogenous distribution are important parameters on compression strength. Determination of compression strength of fibre mixed concrete is significant due to the veridicality of capacity calculations. Plenty of experiments shall be completed to state the compression strength of concrete which have different fibre admixture. In each case, it is known that performing the laboratory experiments is costly and time-consuming. Therefore, ANN analysis is used to predict the 7 and 28 days of compression strength values. For this purpose, 156 test specimens are produced that have 26 different types of fibre admixture. While the results of 120 specimens are used for training process, 36 of them are separated for test process in ANN analysis to determine the validity of experimental results. Finally, it is seen that ANN analysis predicts the compression strength of concrete successfully.

We suggest a systematic method for obtaining the optimal compression ratio in the multi-stage closed-loop compression process of carbon dioxide. Instead of adopting the compression ratio of 3 to 4 by convention, we propose a novel approach based on mathematical analysis and simulation. The mathematical analysis prescribes that the geometric mean is a better initial value than the existing empirical value in identifying the optimal compression ratio. In addition, the optimization problem considers the initial installation cost as well as the energy required for the operation. We find that it is best to use the fifth stage in the general closed-loop type carbon dioxide multi-stage compression process.

This paper analyzed the characteristics of the Lossy JPEG of the meteorological satellite image, and analyzed the quality of the Lossy JPEG compression, which is proper for the LRIT(Low Rate Information Transmission) to be serviced to the SDUS(Small-scale Data Utilization Station) system of the COMS(Communication, Oceans, Meteorological Satellite). Since COMS is to start running after 2008, we collected the data of the MTSAT-1R(Multi-functional Transport Satellite -1R) for analysis, and after forming the original image to be used to LRIT by each channel and time zone of the satellite image data, we set the different quality with the Lossy JPEG compression, and compressed the original data. For the characteristic analysis of the Lossy JPEG, we measured PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Rate), compression rate and the time spent in compression following each quality of Lossy JPEG compression. As a result of the analysis of the satellite image data of the MTSAT-1R, the ideal quality of the Lossy JPEG compression was found to be 90% in the VIS Channel, 85% in the IR1 Channel, 80% in the IR2 Channel, 90% in the IR3 Channel and 90% in the IR4 Channel.

In order to integrate two consolidation theories of Terzaghi's consolidation theory and Mesri's secondary compression theory and to identify a model suitable for analyzing stress-strain behavior over time, numerical analysis on consolidation tests were conducted using a modified cam-clay model and a soft soil creep model and the following conclusions were obtained. The results of numerical analysis applying the theory that a linear proportional relationship is established between the void ratio at logarithmic scale and the permeability coefficient at logarithmic scale is better agreement with the result of oedometer test than the results of applying constant hydraulic conductivity. The modified cam-clay model is a model that does not include secondary compression, but the slope of the normal consolidation line corresponding to the compression index of the standard consolidation test includes secondary compression, so the actual settlement curve over time is lower than the predicted value through numerical analysis. It always gets smaller. Other previous studies that applied Terzaghi's consolidation theory to consolidation test analysis showed the same results and were cross-confirmed. The soft soil creep model, which includes secondary compression in the theory, showed good agreement in all sections including secondary compression in the consolidation test results. It was judged appropriate to use a soft soil creep model when performing numerical analysis of soft clay ground.
A finite element program is developed to analyze the flow phenomena in SMC compression molding as a viscoplastic model. The calculation of temperature distribution is also carried out by uncoupling the thermal analysis from the flow analysis. SMC molding processes with a flat plate substructure and the one with a T-shaped rib are considered in numerical simulation. The numerical results provide deformed shapes, temperature distribution in a SMC charge, and the forming load. The simulation of compression molding of a flat plate with a T-shaped rib requires a remeshing technique for the whole process.

In order to minimize compression power and analyze the cause of exergy loss for a dry ice production cycle with 3-stage compression, the variation of compression power was investigated and the exergy analysis was peformed for the cycle. In this cycle, $CO_2$, is used both as a refrigerant and as a raw material for dry ice. The behavior of compression power and irreversibility in the cycle were examined as a function of intermediate pressure. From this result, the conditions for the minimum compression power were obtained in terms of the first stage or the third stage pressure. In addition, the irreversibilities for the cycle were investigated with respect to the efficiency of compressor. Result shows that the optimum pressure is not consistent with the conventional pressure obtained from the equal-pressure-ratio assumption. This is mainly due to the change in mass flow rate of the intermediate stage compressor by the flash gas evaporation from the flash drums. Most important is that the present exergy analysis enabled us to find bad performance components for the cycle and informed us of methods to improve the cycle performance.

At present, CHS(Compression Hip Screw) is one of the best prosthesis for the intertrochanteric fracture. There is nothing to evaluate the CHS itself with the finite element analysis and mechanical tests. They have same ways of the experimental test of the ASTM standards. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the existing CHS and the new CHS which have transformational design factors with finite element analysis and mechanical tests. The mechanical tests are divided into compression tests and fatigue test for evaluating the failure load, strength and fatigue life. This finite element method is same as the experimental test of the ASTM standards. Under 300N of compression load at the lag screw head. There are less differences between Group (5H, basic type) and Group which has 8 screw holes. However, there are lots of big differences between Group and Group which is reinforced about thickness of the neck range. Moreover, the comparison of Group and Group shows similar tendency of the comparison of Group and Group . The Group is reinforced the neck range from Group. After the experimental tests and the finite element analysis, the most effective design factor of the compression hip screws is the reinforcement of the thickness, even though, there are lots of design factors. Moreover, to unite the lag screw with the plate and to analyze by static analysis, the result of this method can be used with experimental test or instead of it.
In order to investigate mechanical properties and load-bearing capacity of T-shaped Concrete-Filled Square Steel Tubular (TCFST) composite columns under eccentric axial load, three T-shaped composite columns were tested under eccentric compression. Experimental results show that failure mode of the columns under eccentric compression was bending buckling of the whole specimen, and mono column performs flexural buckling. Specimens behaved good ductility and load-bearing capacity. Nonlinear finite element analysis was also employed in this investigation. The failure mode, the load-displacement curve and the ultimate bearing capacity of the finite element analysis are in good agreement with the experimental ones. Based on eccentric compression test and parametric finite element analysis, the calculation formula for the equivalent slenderness ratio was proposed and the bearing capacity of TCFST composite columns under eccentric compression was calculated. Results of theoretical calculation, parametric finite element analysis and eccentric compression experiment accord well with each other, which indicates that the theoretical calculation method of the bearing capacity is advisable.

Background/Aims: Colonoscopy for screening is associated with unpleasant experiences for patients, and abdominal compression devices have been developed to minimize these problems. However, there is a paucity of data supporting the therapeutic benefits of this strategy. This study examined the effects of using an abdominal compression device during colonoscopy on the cecal intubation time (CIT), abdominal compression, patient comfort, and postural changes. Methods: We searched PubMed and Scopus (from inception to November 2021) for randomized controlled trials that assessed the effects of an abdominal compression device during colonoscopy on CIT, abdominal compression, patient comfort, and postural change. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed. Weighted mean differences (WMDs) and Mantel-Haenszel odds ratios (ORs) were calculated. Results: Our pooled analysis of seven randomized controlled trials revealed that abdominal compression devices significantly reduced CIT (WMD, -0.76 [-1.49 to -0.03] minutes; p=0.04), abdominal compression (OR, 0.52; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.28-0.94; p=0.03), and postural changes (OR, 0.46; 95% CI, 0.27-0.78; p=0.004) during colonoscopy. However, our results did not show a significant change in patient comfort (WMD, -0.48; 95% CI, -1.05 to 0.08; p=0.09) when using an abdominal compression device. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate that employing an abdominal compression device may reduce CIT, abdominal compression, and postural change but have no impact on patient comfort.
