  • In this paper, a new stereo image compression algorithm is suggested in which the residual image extracted from the stereo image by the disparity-compensated prediction method is compressed using the wavelet transform considering the inter & intra correlation between subbands. The compression performance of the proposed method is significantly improved by comparing with the conventional algorithm such as EPIC, EPWIC & JPEG through the computer simulation and the PSNR is also increased about 3.5dB compared with the EPIC. Finally, the stereo image having a good 3D effect can be reconstructed from the compressed image data by the proposed method.

  • Double JPEG compression detection is one of the most important ways of exposing the integrity of the JPEG image in image forensics. Several methods have been proposed for discriminating against the double JPEG image. In this paper, we propose a new method for restoring the JPEG compressed image and making the detector confused by introducing a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). First, a generator network is designed for restoring the JPEG compressed image and analyzed the quality. Then, the restored image is tested with the double compression detector for evaluating the robustness of the proposed GAN model. The detection accuracy reduces from 98% to 58%.

  • This paper presents an automatic tele-inspection scheme for the remotely manufacturing process. The remote-manufacturing process is continuously monitored and a crucial process is captured by CCD Camera. The captured image is compressed by neural network and JPEG, and it is sent directly to the assembly plant for incoming inspection. Massive image data require broadband channel to transmit them to remote distance, but sender is able to transmit them to receiver in use common channel by compressing massive image data in the high ratio. After the receiver reconstructs the compressed image to be transmitted, the reconstructed image is also directly used for automatic inspection of the process. The Experimental results show that the proposed inspection mechanism could be effectively implemented for real applications.

  • Blocking artefact noise is necessarily happened in compressed images using block-coded algorithms such as JPEC compressing algorithm. This noise is more recognizable especially in highly compressed images. In this paper, an algorithm is presented for reduction of blocking artefact noise using block division. Furthermore, we also mention about the median filter which is often used in image processing.

  • This paper proposes a new framework of reversible data hiding scheme for absolute moment truncation coding (AMBTC) compressed images. AMBTC-based RDH can be applied to optical remote sensing (ORS) image transmission, which achieves target region preservation and image compression simultaneously. Existing methods can be concluded as two types. In type I schemes, stego codes mimic the original AMBTC format where no file bloat occurs, yet the carried secret data is limited. Type II schemes utilize predication errors to recode quantity levels of AMBTC codes which achieves significant increase in embedding capacity. However, such recoding causes bloat inside stego format, which is not appropriate in mentioned ORS transmission. The proposed method is a novel type I RDH method which prevents bloat inside AMBTC stego codes with significant improvement in embedding capacity. The AMBTC compressed trios are grouped into two categories according to a given threshold. In smooth trio, the modified low quantity level is constructed by concatenating Huffman codes and secret bits. The reversible contrast mapping (RCM) is performed to complex trios for data embedment. Experiments show that the proposed scheme provides highest payload compared with existing type I methods. Meanwhile, no expansion inside stego codes is caused.

  • According to an evolution of image and video compression technologies, most digital images are in the compressed form. Resizing of these compressed images have various applications such as transmission of resized image according to varying bandwidth, content adaptation for display purpose and etc. Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is the most popular transformation for image compression. Recently, several researches have been performed to obtain the reconstructed image of original size in the DCT domain after downsampling and upsampling in the DCT domain. Main focus of these researches is to improve quality of the reconstructed image after downsampling and upsampling in the DCT domain In this paper, we present an modified IDCT method to downsize DCT-encoded image. Furthermore, we propose an efficient scheme for image downsampling and upsampling in the DCT domain With these modified IDCT method. The proposed scheme Provides higher PSNR values than the existing schemes In terms of the reconstructed image after halving and doubling in the DCT domain.

  • A photonic integrated interferometric imaging system possesses the characteristics of small-scale, low weight, low power consumption, and better image quality. It has potential application for replacing conventional large space telescopes. In this paper, the principle of photonic integrated interferometric imaging is investigated. A novel lenslet array arrangement and lenslet pairing approach are proposed, which are helpful in improving spatial frequency coverage. For the novel lenslet array arrangement, two short interference arms were evenly distributed between two adjacent long interference arms. Each lenslet in the array would be paired twice through the novel lenslet pairing approach. Moreover, the image reconstruction model for optical interferometric imaging based on compressed sensing was established. Image simulation results show that the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) of the reconstructed image based on compressive sensing is about 10 dB higher than that of the direct restored image. Meanwhile, the normalized mean square error (NMSE) of the direct restored image is approximately 0.38 higher than that of the reconstructed image. Structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of the reconstructed image based on compressed sensing is about 0.33 higher than that of the direct restored image. The increased spatial frequency coverage and image reconstruction approach jointly contribute to better image quality of the photonic integrated interferometric imaging system.

  • The wireless network has bursty and high error rates. Due to the quite limited bandwidth in wireless networks, images are usually transmitted as a compressed version with VLC(variable length coding). Loss of coded data can affect a decoded image to a large extent, making concealment of errors caused by data loss an important issue. This paper presents a error concealment technique for DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) based image coding. First, a method to estimate the missing DC coefficients of a JPEG coded image which is required for decoding the compressed image, is suggested and evaluated. Second, the missing data is interpolated by exploiting the probability of being nonzero and the correlation between adjacent blocks. In addition, since the these technique is computational efficient, it conserves system resources and power consumption, which are restrictive in mobile computers.

  • When an image is reconstructed by the conventional compressed sensing with random measurement points, most degradation in the reconstructed image occurs in the transient regions. To solve this problem, in this paper, an adaptive compressed sensing that estimates the transient regions in the image and acquires more data at those regions is proposed, which can reconstruct an image with higher quality. The proposed method roughly analyzes the characteristics of image using the randomly-acquired data, acquires additional data at the adaptively-determined points based on the image characteristics, and reconstructs the final image. It is confirmed that with the same number of acquired data, the proposed method reconstructs the image of higher quality than the conventional method.
