As for military backpacks in Korea, utility backpack products equipped with various functions along with comfort and convenience are being developed. As a result, the volume and weight of the backpack increase, and many lightweight studies of the materials forming the backpack are being conducted. This study is a basic study on frame lightweight using fiber-reinforced composites to deal with aluminum, a back frame that maintains the shape of a backpack and provides stability when worn by combatants. As is known, only fiber-reinforced composites have sufficient light weight and mechanical properties, but the mechanical properties were reviewed by drilling holes to maximize the light weight. Tensile strength and flexural strength were measured by drilling 6mm, 12mm, 18mm, and 24mm holes, and the tensile strength and flexural strength were measured when 1, 3, 5, and 7 holes of 12mm were increased. As a result, even when the number of holes was increased, tensile strength did not change significantly, and the flexural strength showed to be higher in the case of 3 holes and 5 holes than in the case of 1 hole.

The composites were fabricated by adding 30, 40, 50, 60[vol.%] Zirconium Diboride(hereafter, $ZrB_2$) powders as a second phase to Silicon Carbide(hereafter, SiC) matrix. SiC-$ZrB_2$ composites were sintered by Spark Plasma Sintering(hereafter, SPS) in argon gas atmosphere. The relative density SiC+30[vol.%]$ZrB_2$, SiC+40[vol.%]$ZrB_2$, SiC+50[vol.%]$ZrB_2$ and SiC+60[vol.%]$ZrB_2$ composites are 94.98[%], 99.57[%], 96.58[%] and 93.62[%] respectively.

In this paper, various kinds of epoxy based nanocomposites were made and AC breakdown properties of nano-$TiO_2$ and micro-silica filler mixture of epoxy based composites were studied by sphere to sphere electrode. Moreover, nano- and micro-filler combinations were adopted as an approach toward practical application of nanocomposite insulating materials. AC breakdown test was performed at room temperature $(25^{\circ}C)$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$. The result shows breakdown strength about non-filled, nano-scale $TiO_2$, micro-scale silica and nano-$TiO_2$, micro-silica filled epoxy composites.

In this study, Nano and micro-filler mixture composites were fabricated by fixed value of $SiO_2$ nano-filler 0.4 [wt%] according to increase of $SiO_2$ micro-filler [wt%] from 1 to 10. Composites with a good dispersion of mixed $SiO_2$ Nano and micro-particles in the epoxy resins were prepared and experiments were performed to measure the dielectric breakdown strength properties with various temperature and thickness. The dielectric strength properties are compared and analyzed with respect to nano/micro-composites filled with $SiO_2$ fillers less than properties obtained for nanocomposites.

The composites were fabricated by adding 30, 35, 40, 45[vol.%] Zirconium Diboride(hereafter, $ZrB_2$) powders as a second phase to Silicon Carbide(hereafter, SiC) matrix. $SiC-ZrB_2$ composites were sintered by Spark Plasma Sintering(hereafter, SPS) in vacuum or argon gas atmosphere. The relative density of SiC+40[vol.%]$ZrB_2$ composites reveal high 99.57[%] in argon gas atmosphere and pressure 50MPa.

In oder to investigate of partial discharge of nano-composites materials, we have studied partial discharge appling voltage from 5 to 30 [kV] to make an artificial defect with the epoxy adding to 0, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.6 [wt%], respectively. The experimental result, we have found that $SiO_2$ of 0.4 (wt%] was superior to others also, it is found that the effect of isolate diagnosis to get the slope for the discharged electric charge distribution.

In recent years, the use of natural fiber as reinforcement in polymer composites to replace synthetic fiber such as glass fiber is receiving increasing attention. Because of increasing usage according to the high demand, the cost of thermoplastic has increased rapidly over the past decades. We used a thermoplastic polymer(polypropylene) as the matrix and a lignocellulosic material(rice-husk flour) as the reinforcement filler to prepare a particle-reinforced composite to examine the possibility of using lignocellulosic material as reinforcement filler and to determine data of test results for physical, mechanical and morphological properties of the composite according to the reinforcement filler content in respect to thermoplastic polymer, In this study, PLA/PP rice-husk fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites that made by the hot press molding method according to appropriate manufacturing process was evaluated as mechanical properties.

The cement concrete pavements are designed twenty years of performance life in Korea. At the present time, some expressways have been elapsed seventy percent of performance life which are detecting local failures. The most repair methods using to repair failures are partial depth repair and full section repair. These methods are most important bonding strength between rapid curing materials and substrate concrete pavements. This study was performed to evaluate bonding strength of the composites section made of rapid curing material and substrate concrete pavements. The pull-out tester was used to test bonding strength for the composites section made of each materials. In the results of the test, the bonding strength values of the epoxy mortar and acrylic mortar are higher than those of the other materials. The performance life of repaired section is affected by various factor. The bonding strength of bonded composites section may be affect the performance life, significantly.
This paper presents a first step towards the understanding of water diffusion in RTM textile composite materials for aircraft applications and focuses on the development of experimental and numerical approaches to characterize the diffusion kinetics within the material. The method consists in making samples which are representative of the materials architecture and carrying out gravimetric tests on such samples. Analysis of results with the aid of a diffusion model reconstructing the architecture of the samples helps identifying the diffusion behaviour of the material.

In this paper, the dielectric properties of epoxy composites used for transformers are studied. The dielectric permittivity and loss of specimen are measured at the frequency range of 30[Hz]∼1[MHz] about temperature 20[$^{\circ}C$],100[$^{\circ}C$] and 140[$^{\circ}C$] respectively from a series of experiments. When the filler is added, between epoxy and silica is formed interface. Therefore, observed higher values of dielectric permittivity and loss in filled epoxy are attributed to MWS polarization effect. Also, glass transition temperature was shifted to higher temperature and value of dielectric permittivity and loss were decreased due to 2nd curing. Deformation of interfacial state is improved and value of dielectric permittivity and loss were decreased at low frequency region by the surface treatment of fillers with silane coupling agents.
