  • Recently, many IT organizations develop software system with reusable component. Effective reusing of components increases software development productivity and quality. And, development of high quality component documents decrease maintenance problems, which are issues in component-based software development. In this paper, we propose a quality evaluation model of component development documents by empirical research. It consists of component quality reference model (CQRM) and quality evaluation model (CQEM). CQRM contains quality guidelines for component developers. CQEM contains evaluation guidelines for component consumers and distributors. We performed case study to verify this paper. Also, we presented quality improvement methods and improvement effects of component development documents. The quality evaluation model of component development documents proposed in this paper leads component development documents with high quality, and provides a rational quality evaluation model.

  • Developing a component-based software requires verified and standardized software components. This paper presents a component quality management (CQM) process. The process was developed and applied to the government-sponsored trial projects that developed software components. The process is composed of four phases:quality specification, quality planning, quality control, and quality evaluation. With this process, we can establish quality goals and focus our efforts on the activities to achieve the goals. A component quality model is also suggested to transform the implicit quality requirements into the measurable quality goals and to be used for the basis when we evaluate the quality of software components against the quality goals.

  • Because of rapid evolution of software technique, numerous software professionals have been concerned with component based development methodologies. However, it is hard to find out a systematic technique for the selection of COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) component in consumer position. Up to date, the major of component quality evaluation is object-oriented metric based evaluation methodology. But this paper present four step process and evaluation criteria based on MCDM (Multiple Criteria Decision Making) technique for optimal COTS component selection in consumer position. Weconsidered funtionality, efficiency, usability based on ISO/IEC 9126 for quality measurement and executed practical analysis about commercial EJB component in internet. This paper show that the proposed selection technique is applicable to optimal COTS component selection.

  • In component-Based Software Development, the quality of indivisual component is play an important role in quality decision of the whole software. So we need the practical strategy for component testing. In general, component testing can divide focus into producer position and consumer position. In this paper, because the consumer position uses output of the producer position, testing domain is deployed in the producer position. We propose RUP based five step testing processes for component quality evaluation and implements a case study of EJB environment for appling our testing process. This paper shows that proposed five step processes are applicable to component quality evaluation.

  • The component-based development methodology becomes famous as the new technology for reuse. That technology can help us easily develop a complex and large system by composing reusable components in short period with high-quality and low-cost. The component-based system nay be developed by composing more than one component. So, the quality of component-based system is determined by individual component duality. Therefore, it is necessary to measure individual component quality for the improvement in quality of component-based system. Hence, in this paper, we propose new component metrics for measuring the cohesion as relationship between classes and interfaces or among classes. Those can be applied in the early stage of software development life cycle. So, we can measure the functional cohesion of component which will be developed. Predicting functional independence of a component, we expect to reduce the software developing cost & effort and improve software quality by reusing a component.

  • Purpose - In this study, it is classified the service quality dimension of mobile shopping app using Kano model. In addition, it is evaluated quality factors suitable for strategic management from the viewpoint of service provider through mobile application through binary dimension analysis. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, seven quality dimensions such as information quality, reliability, immediacy, convenience, design, security and customer service were derived through related studies to make binary shopping quality app quality measurement. 37 sub-variables were set by each quality dimensions. Each questionnaire was composed of positive and negative items like Kano's proposed method, and the satisfaction coefficient suggested by Timko(1993) was examined to understand the influence of each factors on customer satisfaction. Results - As a result of research, shopping app users perceived unity quality factor in most items of service quality dimension such as information quality, reliability, immediacy, convenience and customer service. In addition, the satisfaction coefficient showed a good impression, quick response of the result, fast delivery, and the unsatisfactory coefficient showed more interest in personal information such as payment method safety, and transaction security. As a result of research, shopping app users perceived unity quality factor in most items of service quality dimension such as information quality, reliability, immediacy, convenience and customer service. And, in information quality, the information overload was classified as an apathetic quality component, while the related information provision belonged to an attractive quality component. In reliability quality, customized service provision was classified as an attractive quality component. In instant connectivity, the quality of the connection during transport was classified as an attractive quality component. In convenience quality, access to product information was classified as a one-way quality component. All components of designs quality were classified as attractive quality components, and in security quality, all of their components were all classified as one quality component. Lastly, in customer service, they components were all classified as a single quality component. In addition, the satisfaction coefficient showed a good impression, quick response of the result, fast delivery, and the unsatisfactory coefficient showed more interest in personal information such as payment method safety, and transaction security. Conclusion - In the online service environment, which is difficult to differentiate in terms of upward upgrading only by technological implementation and function, the results of this study can be suggested as a differentiating factor for major channels with customers rather than improve the brand image.

  • The component-based development methodology becomes famous as the new way for reuse. The goal of the reuse is improvement of quality, productivity and independence on the software development. For the improvement in the quality of a component-based system, it is necessary to research component metrics in the early phase of a component development. Hence, in this paper, we propose new component metrics using the information of a component analysis phase. Those are CCI(Complexity of Component Interface) and LCC(Lack Cohesion of Component interface). CCI indicates a difficulty about comprehension, modification, management, use of interface. LCC indicates a functional independence about how strong the elements are related with. Therefore, it is possible to predict and manage the quality of a component to be developed. Predicting a lowness of complexity and highness of cohesion as an independent functional unit by a component interface in the early phase of a component development, we can expect the improvement in the quality of a system.

  • A commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) component is an implementation of common functionality among family members, where an in-house component implements an organization-specific functionality. Typically, a COTS component has a producer and aset of potential consumers. Consumers evaluate COTS components thoroughly before they purchase, because these components are developed by third party producers and most consumers have ‘not-invented-here’ syndrome. Hence, evaluating the quality of COTS components becomes an important prerequisite to a successful component-based application development. In this paper, we identify the characteristics of COTS components, and derive a practical quality model for components, C-QM, which consists of quality factors, criteria and metrics and a qualify certification system, C-QCS. The top design goal of C-QM is set to provide a practically applicable comprehensive quality model which can be effectively applied in assessing the various quality aspects of COTS components.

  • The component-based development methodology becomes famous as the reuse technology to improve the high productivity of software development. It is necessary component metrics for component-based systems, because the designed components should be measurable to improve the quality of the software. Therefore this paper propose a coupling metric for component design which is reflected in characteristics of component. This paper suggest a case study and comparative analysis result about conventional metrics to verify the accuracy of our coupling metric. The Uoposed coupling metric measure the quality of components accurately and satisfies necessary conditions of coupling metric suggested by Briand and others.
