Traffic volumes are fundamental data widely used in various traffic analysis, such as origin-and-destination establishment, total traveled kilometer distance calculation, congestion evaluation, and so on. The low number of links collecting the traffic-volume data in a large urban highway network has weakened the quality of the analyses in practice. This study proposes a method to estimate the traffic volume data on a highway link where no collection device is available by introducing a spatial statistic technique with (1) the traffic-volume data from TOPIS, and National Transport Information Center in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and (2) the navigation data from private navigation. Two different component models were prepared for the interrupted and the uninterrupted flows respectively, due to their different traffic-flow characteristics: the piecewise constant function and the regression kriging. The comparison of the traffic volumes estimated by the proposed method against the ones counted in the field showed that the level of error includes 6.26% in MAPE and 5,410 in RMSE, and thus the prediction error is 20.3% in MAPE.
To assess the water resources sustainability, many indicators and methodologies have been suggested by international organizations and developed in other countries. However, in the previous studies, some of indicators were unsuitable for assessing the sustainability of water use and management in Korea. Thus, in this study nSl(Water Resources Sustainability Index), a multi-variable index, was created by consideration of environmental, social, and economical criteria. Relative weights for components, indicators and sub-indexes, were determined by employing the Analytic Hierarchy Process. In order to extract the indicators related with water resources sustainability, the data related with water resources and indicators suggested in various field were compared and thoroughly reviewed. These indicators were classified into four groups; Economic Efficiency Index, Social Equity Index, Environmental Conservation Index, and Maintenance Capability Index. The weight of each component were decided by the survey of 127 specialists in water resources and sustainability. The result of survey represented that efficiency and equity of water use and water quality for river restoration are major issues in enhancing the water resources sustainability In addition, it was found that investment and public participation should be considered for sustainable water use.
Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by the gram-positive bacterium, Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax toxin is a tripartite toxin comprising of protective antigen (PA), lethal factor (LF) and edema factor (EF). PA is the receptor-binding component, which facilitates the entry of LF or EF onto the cytosol. LF is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease, which is a critical virulence factor in cytotoxicity of infected animals. Therefore, it is of interest to develop its potent inhibitors for the neutralization of anthrax toxin. The first step to identify the inhibitors is the development of a rapid, sensitive, and simple assay method with a high-throughput ability. Much efforts have been concentrated on the preparation of powerful assays and on the screening of inhibitors using these system. In the present study, we have tried to construct anthrax lethal factor in yeast expression system to prepare cell-based high-throughput assay system. Here, we have shown the results covering the construction of a new vector system, subcloning of LF gene, and the expression of target gene. Our results are first trial to express LF gene in eukaryote and provide the basic steps in design of cell-based assay system.
Purpose: To test whether the expression of P-cadherin, a component of slit diaphragms between podocyte foot processes, would be altered by puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN) in a cultured podocyte in vitro. Methods: Rat glomerular epithelial cells (GEpC) were cultured with various concentrations of PAN. The distribution of P-cadherin was examined with a confocal microscope. Western blotting and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to measure the change in P-cadherin expression. Results: This study found that P-cadherin was concentrated in the inner and peripheral cytoplasm with high concentrations of PAN under immunofluorescence views. Western blotting of GEpC revealed that PAN induced a decrease of P-cadherin in dose- and time-dependent manners. A high dose ($50{\mu}g/mL$) of PAN decreased P-cadherin expression by 21.9% at 24 h (P <0.05) and 31.9% at 48 h (P <0.01) compared to those without PAN. In RT-PCR, high concentrations ($50{\mu}g/mL$) of PAN also decreased P-cadherin mRNA expression, similar to protein suppression, by 23.5% at 48 h (P <0.05). Conclusion: Podocytes exposed to PAN in vitro concentrated P-cadherin internally, and reduced P-cadherin mRNA and protein expression. This could explain the development of proteinuria in experimental PAN-induced nephropathy.

Seed and pod numbers are the main yield components in soybean. Selection for increased yield potential is main goal of plant breeding. The objective of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci(QTLs) that control pod number per plant, seed number per plant and pod in soybean. The 117 $F_{2:10}$ recombinant inbred lines(RILs) developed from a cross of 'Keunolkong' and 'Shinpaldalkong' were used. Two independent QTLs for pod number per plant were identified from linkage group(LG) F and L. Two QTLs for seed number per plant were located on LG F and L. Seed number per pod was related with three QTLs located on LG D1a, D1b and F. Pod and seed number per plant have two common QTLs on LG F and L.
Plants can respond and adapt to cold stress through regulation of gene expression in various biochemical and physiological processes. Cold stress triggers decreased rates of metabolism, modification of cell walls, and loss of membrane function. Hence, this study was conducted to construct coexpression networks for time-based expression pattern analysis of genes related to cold stress in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis). B. rapa cold stress networks were constructed with 2,030 nodes, 20,235 edges, and 34 connected components. The analysis suggests that similar genes responding to cold stress may also regulate development of Chinese cabbage. Using this network model, it is surmised that cold tolerance is strongly related to activation of chitinase antifreeze proteins by WRKY transcription factors and salicylic acid signaling, and to regulation of stomatal movement and starch metabolic processes for systemic acquired resistance in Chinese cabbage. Moreover, within 48 h, cold stress triggered transition from vegetative to reproductive phase and meristematic phase transition. In this study, we demonstrated that this network model could be used to precisely predict the functions of cold resistance genes in Chinese cabbage.
Cellular glass foam (CGF), the reprocessed glass, has a possibility to be used as a medium component in plug culture of horticultural crops due to the its excellent air and water permeability as comparable to perlite. An experiment was conducted to investigate growth of plug seedlings of Lycopersicum esculentum 'Segye' as influenced by irrigation frequency in various medium combinations of CGF (2.0-4.0 mm particle size) and peatmoss. Seeds were sown in 200-cell plug trays, filled with mixtures of CGF and peatmoss either at 33:67 or 25:75 (%. v/v) and were germinated on a fogged propagation bed. The irrigation frequencies used were one, two or three times per every two days. A commercial plug medium (Tosilee medium) was used as the control, and the irrigation frequency in the control was one time per day. Growth of seedlings, and medium pH and EC were measured at 33 days after sowing. The medium composition had little influence on overall growth of seedlings. Irrigation frequency very significant affected number of leaves, leaf area, chlorophyll concentration, fresh and dry weights of shoots and roots, and dry matter. Growth of seedlings was the greatest with the highest irrigation frequency in the 25% CGF+75% peatmoss mixture.
In this paper, we propose a recognition application of facial expression for laughter theraphy on smartphone. It detects face region by using AdaBoost face detection algorithm from the front camera image of a smartphone. After detecting the face image, it detects the lip region from the detected face image. From the next frame, it doesn't detect the face image but tracks the lip region which were detected in the previous frame by using the three step block matching algorithm. The size of the detected lip image varies according to the distance between camera and user. So, it scales the detected lip image with a fixed size. After that, it minimizes the effect of illumination variation by applying the bilateral symmetry and histogram matching illumination normalization. After that, it computes lip eigen vector by using PCA(Principal Component Analysis) and recognizes laughter expression by using a multilayer perceptron artificial network. The experiment results show that the proposed method could deal with 16.7 frame/s and the proposed illumination normalization method could reduce the variations of illumination better than the existing methods for better recognition performance.

Existing B2B, B2C computer systems and applications that executed business trans-actions were the client- server based architecture which consists of heterogeneous hardware and software including personal computers and mainframes. Due to the active boom of electronic business, integration and compatibility of exchanged data, applications and hardwares have emerged as hot issue. This paper designs and implements a message transport system and a document transformation system in order to solve the interoperability problem of integrated logistics system in e-Business when doing electronic business. Message transport system integrated ebMS 2.0 which is standard business message exchange format of ebXML, the international standard electronic commerce framework, and JMS of J2EE enable to ensure reliable messaging. The document transformation system could convert non-standard XML documents into standard XML documents and provide the web services after integrating message system. Using suggested business scenario and various test data, our message oriented system preyed to be interoperable and stable. We participated ebXML messaging interoperability test organized by ebXML Asia Committee ITG in oder to evaluate and certify the suitability for message system.
An object-oriented framework supports efficient component-based software development by providing a flexible architecture that can be decomposed into easily modifiable and composable classes. Object-oriented frameworks require thorough testing as they are intended to be reused repeatedly In developing numerous applications. Furthermore, additional testing is needed each time the framework is modified and extended for reuse. To test a framework, it must be instantiated into a complete, executable system. It is, however, practically impossible to test a framework exhaustively against all kinds of framework instantiations, as possible systems into which a framework can be configured are infinitely diverse. If we can classify possible configurations of a framework into a finite number of groups so that all configurations of a group have the same structural or behavioral characteristics, we can effectively cover all significant test cases for the framework testing by choosing a representative configuration from each group. This paper proposes a systematic method of classifying object structures of a framework hotspot and extracting structural test patterns from them. This paper also presents how we can select an instance of object structure from each extracted test pattern for use in the frameworks hotspot testing. This method is useful for selection of optimal test cases and systematic construction of executable test target.
