  • Product line engineering(PLE) is one of the recent and effective reuse approaches that enables developing a number of applications by instantiating a core asset. Elements of a core asset are product line architecture(PLA), component, and decision model. Among these elements, PLA is the key element since it defines the overall structure of the core asset. Although numerous PLE methodologies have been introduced, it is still unclear what should be the elements of a PLA and how to systematically instantiate it for specific applications. Formal specifications can play a key role in defining detailed and precise instantiation process. In this paper, we first present a meta model of PLA and show how to specify PLA in a formal language, Object-Z. Then, we propose instantiation rules using formal specification and those rules precisely define constraints for instantiating PLA. By applying the proposed formal specification, we believe PLA instantiation can be carried out precisely and correctly, yielding high quality software development.

  • Role Based Access Control(RBAC) reduces the cost of administering access control policies as well as making the process less error-prone. Administration tool is most important component in the concept of RBAC. The administration tool for the RBAC security system must be maintain the integrity of user-role and role-role relationships in the RBAC Database. Therefor, it is required set functions, properties defining integrity of database. When it will be designed security systems which is applying RBAC policy on the Linux(server system environments, this paper defines integrity of database for user-role and role-role relationships, and we propose formal specification of operation in order to manage these relationships. The proposed formal specification leads to the consistency requirements for the RBAC database which are defined as a set of relationship. Also, this paper can easily derive the implementation of the RBAC administration tool by formal specification of operations. It leads us tn the minimal set for a more efficiently implementation of administration tool.

  • In this paper, the transmission structure and procedure of a random access channel for the IMT-2000 satellite radio specification are presented. The proposed random access method has much commonality with that of the 3GPP FD specification which is a terrestrial radio interface of IMT-2000. The proposed method was designed by considering characteristics of satellite link as we71 as the commonality with the terrestrial component. A preamble consists of sub-preamble repetition and a message is transmitted along with the preamble successively. The propose method has fast indication of preamble acquisition by physical layer. The proposed method has been included in the SAT-CDMA which is a radio transmission technology Proposed by TTA, KOREA and approved as a satellite radio interface at ITU-R. Additionally, in this Paper the signaling delay for the proposed random access channel will be analyzed and it will be compared to that of the random access methods using a conventional ALOHA procedure and the 3GPP procedure in aspect of the signaling delay. When the SAT-CDMA satellite constellation at the height of about 1600 km is considered, the delay of the proposed method was estimated to 100 ms less than that of the conventional ALOHA. This delay difference increases with 7he number of retransmissions. The delay is reduced by 30 ms, compared with the 3GPP method.

  • With growing population of internet and web applications, distributed environment is considered to be the standard architecture of application. A network management systems(NMS) is necessary to control and monitor the complex network resources for providing and sharing the heft quality service. We recognize the NMS as a standard infrastructure for supporting efficient networking and a separate commercial applications. We believe every resource including software, hardware and environment for the network management should be separated from special protocols, vendors and applications. Therefore, We need a standard network management system that is efficient and consistent because of the heterogeous network features. In regards to software development, software reuse through assembling and extending the reusable elements such as patterns and components assures to realize the best productivity and quality The component based development(CBD) methodology that can assemble black box though well defined interfaces makes it possible to develop easer and quicker applications and is proved as the best software development solution involved in construction, selection and assembly of components. In this thesis, we describe the architecture for the network management and identify, define and design the components through analysis and design in the network management domain and Identified components mapped to the component architecture. We also specify the component development and design and implement the component for developing the network management. Implemented components apply to the component repository system that register, retrieve and understand the components. We analyze, design and implement the entire network management system based on configuration, connection, performance and fault management through the pre-developed components.

  • GIS has been building for various application fields with the aids of NGIS project, especially numerous municipal governments are building a UIS in the level of local governments' informatization. Although there are some difference between municipal governments' business, still many things are in common. So far, individual municipal governments have developed a UIS for their own use, which lead to duplicated development of the UIS. The component technology has been introduced to remove such duplicated efforts and it enabled maximizing the reusablilty of the UIS already developed. This paper proposes a component design for network analysis of the drinking water to calculate the amount of flow and the head loss. This component design provides the initial water amount to estimate the amount of the network flow and the head loss, thereby supports the decision making such as installation or extension of the pipe network. The process of the component design accompanies the business reengineering to support the standardized business work flow. Also, the design of the network analysis component uses the algorithms induced with UML specification. Based on the component design, the component development has been progressing and the network analysis system would be followed. In the near future, another component to integrate the network analysis and the business related to the drinking water needs to be developed.

  • In recent years, there has been a rapid and wide spread of robot system in our lives and with the ever increasing the requirement of user for robot functionality, the software component is increasingly sophisticated and complicated. Accordingly it is inevitable to employ a standardized software platform. The OPRoS is open standard software platform based on component for robot system. When the software components were developed, it has got to validate the conformity of robot software components which comply with the OPRoS standard specification. In this paper, we deal with the design and implementation of the structural conformance test suite to verify and validate the conformance of components to be developed by user. As the results of some experiments, we could verify it from this test suite whether the components satisfied standard requirement or not.

  • In recent years considerable progress has been made in the characterisation of surface finish in three dimensions, and in the development of protocols which can be used for international standardisation. Although the subject as it has currently developed has much further to go if the process of surface characterisation is to impact on manufacture, control and specification of the manufacturing process itself. Researchers in this important area are beginning to realise that if the subject is to have great impact on manufacturing industries, surface characterisation must be broadened to include measures of surface integrity of the component and in addition be related to the functional demands imposed on the surface. The functional demands being a requirement of the engineering situation in which the components are employed. If these three factors are considered simultaneously, surface characterisation, surface integrity and component function, then a new and important subject is born, the subject of the Engineered Surface. Part 1 of this paper attempts to draw together the elements which go together to create the subject, 'The Engineered Surface'. The paper presents a method by which this important subject can be developed to the benefit of manufacturing industries. The paper also discusses the importance of a co-ordinated approach to the subject and the way that information can be documented to eventually provide a useful atlas of controlling parameters which are essential for a range of material processing industries as they strive to meet the ever more stringent and cost effective requirements of the manufacture.

  • LRE(liquid rocket engine) performance design code with several modules for each engine component has been developed for a preliminary design purpose. Thrust chamber, non-cryogenic centrifugal pump, single stage axial impulse turbine, gas generator and exhaust pipe for extra thrust have been considered. For simplicity, pump exit pressures are fixed, which eliminates pressure balancing problem between thrust chamber and turbopump unit. In this paper, calculated performance parameters with system flow charts and the design methodologies for each component are briefly presented and the results are compared with tile real engine specification.

  • A performance analysis of a gasoline engine with a 2-stage turbocharger system for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) was conducted. One dimensional system analysis was conducted for the requirements of turbochargers and adequate turbochargers were selected from commercially available models for automobiles. Modeling and simulation were performed by Ricardo WAVE. Gasoline engine modeling was based on a 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine specification. The selected turbochargers and intercoolers were added to the engine model and simulated at 40,000 ft altitude condition. The results of the engine model and 2-stage turbocharger system model simulation showed break power 93 kW which is appropriate power required for the engine operation at the ambient conditions of 40,000 ft altitude.
