Multi-block Analysis of Genomic Data Using Generalized Canonical Correlation Analysis

  • Recently, there have been many studies in medicine related to genetic analysis. Many genetic studies have been performed to find genes associated with complex diseases. To find out how genes are related to disease, we need to understand not only the simple relationship of genotypes but also the way they are related to phenotype. Multi-block data, which is a summation form of variable sets, is used for enhancing the analysis of the relationships of different blocks. By identifying relationships through a multi-block data form, we can understand the association between the blocks in comprehending the correlation between them. Several statistical analysis methods have been developed to understand the relationship between multi-block data. In this paper, we will use generalized canonical correlation methodology to analyze multi-block data from the Korean Association Resource project, which has a combination of single nucleotide polymorphism blocks, phenotype blocks, and disease blocks.

  • 현재 전기철도에서는 고성능 유도전동기를 사용하고 있어서 열차속도제어를 위해 벡터제어를 이용하고 있다. 또한 최근에 인버터와 제어이론의 개발로 인해 다양한 방법으로 유도전동기 제어가 가능하다. 현재 유도 전동기를 사용하는 철도차량은 교류전동기를 이용한 역행, 역상제동 및 회생제동 등이 가능하다. 따라서 다양한 방법을 적용하기 위해서는 모터블록과 유도전동기의 모델이 필요하다. 유도전동기의 제어 방법으로는 가변 전압운전, 가변주파수 운전을 통하여 유도전동기의 토크와 회전수를 제어한다. 철도차량 추진시스템은 많은 서브시스템을 가지고 있어 속도제어 성능을 해석하기가 매우 복잡하다. 본 논문에서는 유도전동기를 사용하는 철도차량 추진시스템을 대상으로 Matlab/Simulink를 이용한 속도제어 특성을 분석하였고, 일정시간에 부하에 대한 외란입력응답 특성을 해석하였다. 또한 철도차량 추진시스템의 속도제어 특성을 해석하기 위해 전류, 속도, 자속추정기 및 유도전동기 모델을 제시하였다.

하이테크(High-Tech) 패션의 변화 및 유형 (Variations and types of high-tech fashion)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in high-tech fashion along with the types and characteristics of high-tech fashion that have appeared recently providing diverse material for the fashion field. High-tech fashion requires such research to learn how much distance one has in one's life. It is also meaningful to predict what direction high-tech fashion research may be needed. For research methods, previous research and literary studies were considered and photographs in which high-tech techniques were used were collected using the keyword 'high-tech fashion'. High-tech fashion types can be organized into the four types of luminescent types, mutual interaction types, 3D printing fashion, and virtual fashion. The research results were as follows. First, luminescent fashion was an important expression method of high-tech fashion. Materials for luminescent fashion first started with LED electric wire connections and many methods have been attempted with the appearance of electrically conductive clothing material, such as luminescent lasers and beam projectors. Second, interactive high-tech fashion often appears as variable fashion. The work of Hussein Chalayan, which was combined with advanced technology, set up a base for variable type interactive high-tech fashion in the 2000s. As bioengineering technology has developed, fashion that interacts with the environment without an energy source has appeared and the interaction among fashion, people, and the environment can be seen. Third, diverse forms of expressiveness in virtual reality such as 3D CLO shows a great difference with past high-tech fashion. Simple and diverse attempts made through virtual fittings reduce the limitations of time and space, permit interaction, and add a sense of reality through speed and dynamic physical beauty. Fourth, 3D printed fashion expresses complex and detailed clothing material that is different from those before with the development of computer 3D modeling technology. Modeling that can imitate geometric and bio-engineered structures is possible and mysterious feelings are passed on to people through creative expressions.

의사결정나무의 분기법 변화가 예측력에 미치는 영향 (The impact of the change in the splitting method of decision trees on the prediction power)

  • 빅데이터 시대에 이르러 다양한 데이터 마이닝 기법이 주요 분석 방법론으로 제안되었다. 복잡 다양한 데이터가 양산되면서 데이터 마이닝 기법은 데이터 과학의 토대를 이루는 방법으로 부각되었다. 본고에서는 해석의 유용성과 예측력 향상의 측면 모두에 초점을 맞추어 다양한 실험 연구를 시행하였다. 구체적인 모형으로는 의사결정나무를 선택하였는데, 이는 실무적 사용 빈도가 높은 방법으로서 활용 폭이 넓을 뿐만 아니라 이해가 쉽고 성능평가가 용이한 방법론이기 때문이다. 의사결정나무모형을 대상으로 이 모형의 구조를 크게 변형시키지 않으면서도 예측력 향상의 목적을 이룰 수 있는 방법을 살펴보았으며 분기변수의 선택 방법이 모형의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이 효과를 측정하기 위해서 다양한 모의실험 모델을 생성하고 분기법의 변화에 따른 예측력을 비교하였다. 비선형성을 지니면서 단일 분할을 통해서 하위 집합으로 명확하게 구분하기 어려운 복잡한 데이터의 경우에는 선형결합 분기방법이 예측력 제고에 도움을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

시변 가변차단주파수 저역통과필터를 이용한 심전도 고주파 잡음의 제거 (High Frequency Noise Reduction in ECG using a Time-Varying Variable Cutoff Frequency Lowpass Filter)

  • 심전도 신호에는 근 잡음과 전원잡음 둥의 잡음이 섞이는 경우가 많다. 이러한 잡음들은 심전도 신호의 주요 주파수 성분에 비하여 상대적으로 고주파 성분이지만 전체적으로 보면 주파수 스펙트럼이 중첩된다. 본 논문에서는 연속적으로 변하는 차단주파수를 가지는 시변 저역통과 디지털필터를 이용하여 원신호의 왜곡을 최소화하면서 잡음을 제거하는 신호처리 방법에 대하여 기술한다 이 필터는 차단주파수 제어기와 가변차단주파수 저역통과필터로 구성된다. 차단주파수 제어기는 잡음이 포함된 심전도 신호로부터 신호의 기울기를 이용하여 차단주파수 제어 신호를 생성한다. 가변차단주파수 저역통과필터의 구현을 위해서 본 논문에서는 컨벡스 조합 필터와 계수보간 필터로 불리는 새로운 두 가지 필터 설계방법을 제안하였으며, 이 두 가지 방법을 이용함으로써 저역통과필터의 차단주파수를 임의의 제한된 구간에서 연속적으로 변화시키는 것이 가능하였다. 고주파 잡음이 첨가된 심전도 신호에서 가변차단주파수 저역통과필터의 잡음 제거 능력이 우수함을 보였으며, 본 논문에서 제안된 가변차단주파수 저역퉁과필터는 심전도 신호의 전처리에 유용하게 사용되어질 것으로 판단된다. 특히, 제어된 환경이 아닌 일상생활 환경에서 심전도를 측정하는 재택건강관리 시스템에서 신호의 품질을 개선하는 데에 효과가 있을 것으로 기대한다.

When do we need more than local compression to control intraoral haemorrhage?

  • Objectives: The aims of this study were to determine the effectiveness of local compression in patients presenting to the emergency room with intraoral bleeding and to identify when complex haemostatic measures may be required. Materials and Methods: Five hundred forty patients who had experienced intraoral haemorrhage were retrospectively reviewed. The outcome variable was the haemostasis method used, i.e., simple (local compression with gauze) or complex (an alternative method after local compression has failed). Predictor variables were sex, age, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class, hepatic cirrhosis, bleeding disorder, use of antithrombotic agents, and site/cause of haemorrhage. Results: The mean patient age was 48.9±23.9 years, 53.5% were male, 42.8% were ASA class II or higher, and 23.7% were taking antithrombotic agents. Local compression was used most often (68.1%), followed by local haemostatic agents, sutures, systemic tranexamic acid or blood products, and electrocautery. The most common site of bleeding was the gingiva (91.7%), and the most common cause was tooth extraction (45.7%). Risk factors for needing a complex haemostasis method were use of antithrombotic agents (odds ratio 2.047, P=0.009) and minor oral surgery (excluding extraction and implant procedures; odds ratio 6.081, P=0.001). Conclusion: A haemostasis method other than local compression may be needed in patients taking antithrombotic agents or having undergone minor oral surgery.

노인 돌봄서비스 제공자의 의사소통 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 도·농 복합 지역사회의 사례를 중심으로 (Factors Affecting Communication Satisfaction of Geriatric Caregiver : Focusing on the case of an urban-rural complex community)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify factors influencing communication satisfaction between geriatric caregivers and older adults in urban-rural complex communities. The ultimate goal was to design local community educational programs and policies to enhance communication satisfaction among geriatric caregivers and improve the quality of care services for older adults. Methods: To identify factors influencing communication satisfaction between elderly caregivers and older adults, a survey titled "CCEP: Assessment of Communication Status between Elderly Care Service Providers and Recipients" was conducted from February to July 2020, focusing on rural-urban complex areas. The survey was administered based on providers of elderly healthcare services. The survey targeted 131 respondents involved in providing care services for older adults. The dependent variable of this study was the communication satisfaction reported by elderly caregivers in their interactions with the elderly. The independent variables included perceptions of older adults, factors associated with communication difficulties, and communication efforts. Additionally, gender, working environment, working experience, and the proportion of face-to-face interactions with older adults during caregiving were controlled for the hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: The analysis revealed that communication efforts with older adults significantly influenced communication satisfaction (β=.09, p<0.01). However, perceptions of the elderly and communication hindrance factors did not have a significant impact on communication satisfaction among geriatric caregivers. Conclusion: Effective communication between geriatric caregivers and older adults is crucial for identifying and meeting the needs and demands of caregiving services, and it plays a vital role in overall caregiving service satisfaction. To enhance communication skills and satisfaction among geriatric caregivers and ensure the appropriate fulfillment of elderly care needs in the local community, the development of community-centered, specialized health communication programs and other initiatives will be necessary in the future.

Risk Prediction Using Genome-Wide Association Studies on Type 2 Diabetes

  • The success of genome-wide association studies (GWASs) has enabled us to improve risk assessment and provide novel genetic variants for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. However, most variants discovered by GWASs have been reported to have very small effect sizes on complex human diseases, which has been a big hurdle in building risk prediction models. Recently, many statistical approaches based on penalized regression have been developed to solve the "large p and small n" problem. In this report, we evaluated the performance of several statistical methods for predicting a binary trait: stepwise logistic regression (SLR), least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), and Elastic-Net (EN). We first built a prediction model by combining variable selection and prediction methods for type 2 diabetes using Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 5.0 from the Korean Association Resource project. We assessed the risk prediction performance using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for the internal and external validation datasets. In the internal validation, SLR-LASSO and SLR-EN tended to yield more accurate predictions than other combinations. During the external validation, the SLR-SLR and SLR-EN combinations achieved the highest AUC of 0.726. We propose these combinations as a potentially powerful risk prediction model for type 2 diabetes.

3상 매트릭스 컨버터에 사용되는 옵셋전압 PWM 방법과 $V_{max}-V_{mid}$ PWM 방법의 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Offset Voltage PWM and $V_{max}-V_{mid}$ PWM Method for 3 Phase Matrix Converter)

  • In this paper, comparative analysis of offset voltage PWM method and $V_{max}-V_{mid}$ PWM method for three-phase matrix converter is addressed by using a simple analytical and graphical method. Offset voltage PWM method calculates PWM patterns in terms of offset voltage and variable slope of carrier, and it simplifies matrix converter modulation algorithm significantly. $V_{max}-V_{mid}$ PWM method generates patterns by using two phases and maintaining a remaining phase to base phase, and it is implemented in the industrial products. The most important performance criterion of modulation method is a magnitude of current ripples and it is analytically modelled. The graphical illustration of theses complex multivariable functions make per-carrier cycle and per fundamental cycle behavior of two PWM methods understood. Two modulation methods are analysed with the analytical formulas and graphics, and the analysis shows offset voltage PWM method is superior to $V_{max}-V_{mid}$ PWM method with respect to input current ripples and output voltage ripples.

3차원 인터랙티브 애니메이션을 활용한 정보시각화 방법에 관한 연구 (The Study on Information Visualization Methods Using 3D interactive Animation)

  • 컴퓨터 미디어 기술의 발전으로 정보를 표현하는 방법은 다양해졌다. 그러나 거대 데이터베이스를 정보 시각화함에 있어서 사용자의 요구에 부합하지 않는 복잡한 구조에 의해 데이터 의미 파악의 어려움이 생겼다. 사용자는 자신의 경험을 통한 지식 정보와 새로 제시되어지는 정보 시각화물을 결합하여 새로운 정보를 형성한다. 사용자가 신속하고 정확하게 데이터 상호간의 관계를 파악하고 새로운 정보를 탐색하기 위해서는 정보 시각화물의 데이터 표현이 구조화 되어야하고 그리고 의미 있는 심벌로 표현 되어져야한다. 삼차원 씬 그래픽 구조, 애니메이션의 동적 표현 요소, 그리고 데이터베이스의 데이터 구조를 상호대응 결합 및 조작 가능한 인터랙션을 제공하면 사용자가 스스로 데이터 탐색할 수 있는 정보 시각화 시스템을 제작할 수 있다. 사례로 가상공간 다이아그램, 폼(Form) 중심 다이아그램 그리고 시뮬레이션 다이아그램 등이 제시되었다.
