Compelex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer using RLS algorithm (RLS알고리듬을 이용한 복소 퍼지 판정궤환 적응 등화기)

  • In this papre, a complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer using the RLS algorithm is proposed. The proposed equalizer is based on the complex fuzzy adaptive equalizer. The 'IF'-part of the complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer has membership functions which are characterized by the sate of decision feedback. The role of decision feedback is to reduce the computational complexity. Computer simulation shows that the proposed equalizer not only reduces the computational complexity but also improves the performance compared with the conventional complex fuzzy adaptive equalizers under the assumption of perfect knowledge of the linear and nonlinear channels. The effects of error propagation due to wrong decision feedback is also shown.

Assessment of Reliability in the Distribution System of an Industrial Complex

  • As the power industry moves towards open competition, there has been a need for methodology to evaluate distribution power system reliability by using customer interruption costs, particularly in power supply zones under the competitive electricity market. This paper presents an algorithm to evaluate system average interruption duration index, expected energy not supplied, and system outage cost taking into consideration failure rate of the distribution facility and industrial customer interruption cost. Also, to apply this algorithm to evaluate system outage cost presented in this paper, the distribution arrangement of a dual supply system consisting of mostly high voltage customers in an industrial complex in Korea is used as a sample case study. Finally, evaluation results of system interruption cost, system average interruption duration index, and expected energy not supplied in the sample industrial complex area are shown in detail.

  • This paper proposes a new $radix-2^4$ FFT algorithm and an efficient pipeline architecture based on this new algorithm for OFDM systems. The pipeline architecture based on the new algorithm has the same number of multipliers as that of the $radix-2^2$ algorithm. However, the multiplier complexity could be reduced by more than $30\%$ by replacing one half of the programmable complex multipliers by the newly proposed CSD constant complex multipliers. From synthesis simulations of a standard 0.35um CMOS Samsung process, a proposed CSD constant complex multiplier achieved more than $60\%$ area efficiency when compared with the conventional programmable complex multiplier. This promoted efficiency can be used for the design of a long length FFT processor in wireless OFDM applications which needs more power and area efficiency.

  • In recent years, mobile communication service is used extensively as a larger service area for the maintenance of quality of service required by the expansion of service areas and As the ever-increasing role in relays, and the location is relatively easy to install and less constrained costs, operating cost savings in terms of ICS(Interference Cancellation System) repeaters are required. However, an adaptive algorithm that is applied when updating the filter due to the increase in volume of operations increase the complexity of hardware implementation is fraught with many difficulties. In this paper, if there is a path that feedback. ICS repeater utilizing baseband signal processing for the removal of interfering signals from the feedback operation, significantly reducing the amount of reducing hardware complexity Complex Singed Signed LMS adaption algorithm is proposed. Proposed algorithm for evaluating the performance of Static channel WCDMA signal environment for the ICS, the results of the simulation algorithm, convergence speed and better performance in therms of convergence errors that are required through the implementation of the operation greatly reduces the amount of hardware complexity able to reduce the effect was visible.

  • Efficient energy management becomes a critical design issue for complex WSN (Wireless Sensor Network). Most of complex WSN employ the sleep mode to reduce the energy dissipation. However, it should cause the reduction of sensing coverage. This paper presents new wake-up algorithm for reducing energy consumption in complex WSN. The proposed wake-up algorithm is devised using geometric probability. It determined which node will be waked-up among the nodes having overlapped sensing coverage. The only one sensor node will be waked-up and it is ready to sense the event occurred uniformly. The simulation results show that the lifetime is increased by 15% and the sensing coverage is increased by 20% compared to the other scheduling methods. Consequently, the proposed wake-up algorithm can eliminate the power dissipation in the overlapped sensing coverage. Thus, it can be applicable for the various WSN suffering from the limited power supply.

  • Complex-valued blind algorithms which are based on constant modulus error and Euclidian distance (ED) between two probability density functions show relatively poor performance in spite of the advantages of information theoretic learning since the inherent characteristics of the constant modulus error prevent the algorithm from coping with the symbol phase rotation caused by the complex channels. In this paper, we show that the symbol phase rotation problem can be avoided and the advantages of information theoretic learning can be preserved by introducing decision-directed mode to the blind algorithm whenever the equalizer output power lies in the neighborhood of multi-modulus levels. Simulation results through MSE convergence and constellation comparison for severely distorted complex channels show significantly enhanced performance of symbol-point concentration and no phase rotation problems caused by the complex channel models.

  • The optimal identification algorithm of fuzzy systems is presented for rule-based fuzzy modeling of nonlinear complex systems. Nonlinear systems are expressed using the identification of structure such as input variables and fuzzy input subspaces, and parameters of a fuzzy model. In this paper, the rule-based fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification using the fuzzy inference methods and hybrid structure combined with two types of optimization theories for nonlinear systems. Two types of inference methods of a fuzzy model are the simplified inference and linear inference. The proposed hybrid optimal identification algorithm is carried out using both a genetic algorithm and the improved complex method. Here, a genetic algorithm is utilized for determining initial parameters of membership function of premise fuzzy rules, and the improved complex method which is a powerful auto-tuning algorithm is carried out to obtain fine parameters of membership function. Accordingly, in order to optimize fuzzy model, we use the optimal algorithm with a hybrid type for the identification of premise parameters and standard least square method for the identification of consequence parameters of a fuzzy model. Also, an aggregate performance index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between performance results of fuzzy model produced for the training and testing data. Two numerical examples are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.

  • This paper introduces a new algorithm to calculate distortion power using complex THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) index. The proposed algorithm involves FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) to compute real and imaginary THDs of voltage and current. Case studies are presented to show the availability of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a face identification algorithm, robust on lighting condition and complex background. The proposed method estimates facial area under bad light condition by expanding face color boundaries and then finds a lip using the templates for lips. Then the eyes are found using their topological relationship with the long and short axes of lip area. The experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm is robust on lighting conditions and complex background.

  • We present a graphical algorithm and theorems for calculating the ranks of reaction networks. The ranks are needed to study behaviors of the networks from their structures. This approach can graphically simplify complex networks for the calculation. We show an example of a large network for the practical advantage.
