Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of nursing students who volunteered as dementia partners for elderly persons with dementia. Methods: This qualitative study utilized focus group interviews to investigate the experiences of 20 nursing students who performed dementia partner activities for more than one year. Data were analysed using an inductive content analysis approach based on Elo & Kyngäs. Results: The analysis yielded the following four major themes: "becoming a dementia expert," "becoming an evangelist for prevention of dementia," "overcoming prejudices against aged with dementia," and "acquiring motivation and skills of geriatric nursing" That means the experience as a dementia partner serves as an opportunity to broaden human understanding and shows its potential as a means to complement the effectiveness of practical nursing education. Conclusion: Dementia partner experiences have changed the perception, attitude and behavior of nursing students about the aged with dementia, so there is a need to extend this kind of experience to other students in nursing. Moreover, educational policy support should be continuously provided for this purpose.
This study was conducted to compare the learning styles and self-leadership between engineering college students with high and low team performance records. About 70% of students in high team performance group showed learning styles of converger and accommodator, whereas about 67% of students in low team performance group showed learning styles of accommodator and diverger. In regard to self-leadership, high team performance group showed higher level of self-leadership, especially self-observation, self-punishment, natural reward strategies, visualizing successful performance, self-talk, and evaluating beliefs and assumptions. It is recommended to provide the engineering students with the specialized training program to complement their learning styles and self-leadership strategies.

In the field of civil and geotechnical engineering, students conduct a variety of soil tests to fulfill undergraduate soil mechanics course requirement. There is a range of problems in soil laboratory instruction, such as, some students not getting hands on experience of conducting tests because of inadequate number of apparatus, time constraints and inability in exciting students to seriously conduit the experiments, However when these laboratory soil tests are simulated with multimedia interaction ann visualization techniques, the students conceptual understanding of soil mechanics is enhanced. The simulation program for website teaching is a computer based instructional package intended to complement, and potentially replace, some physical testing in a real soil laboratory. The overall aim of this project is to develop an experimental simulation program toward active learning and development of critical thinking skills, including data interpretation, understanding of the precesses and influential factors, and problem solving. Therefore enable students to access website to team experimental procedure at any time or place.
The relation between dietary behavior and fast food consumption was investigated among 117 male and 164 female students at a high school in Seoul. The main reason for eating fast foods was convenience. In addition, they used fast food chain stores as a get together place with friends. They enjoyed taste of fast foods as well as the atmosphere of stores but they regarded fast foods somewhat expensive for high school students. Among them, 30.1% of the female students had irregular meals and they ate more irregularly than males. More students took too much or too little amount(45.3% of male, 52.5% of female students) than those who took adequate amount. They skipped breakfast the most frequently because they are in a hurry. Most students took snacks once a day and they considered taste of snacks was more important than nutrition or price. They consumed less calorie, calcium, iron, and riboflavin than RDA. Mean caloric intakes of males and females were 79.0% and 97.1% of RDA, respectively. Mean calcium and iron intakes were less than 70% of RDA. Among many factors that may influence nutrient intake, anthropometric indices turned out to be the most influential. Body weight showed significantly positive correlation with caloric, protein, thiamin, and ascorbic acid intakes in male students where both height and weight showed positive relation with calorie, protein, and iron intakes in females. Therefore, this study suggested that fast food stores should make efforts to provide more foods and beverages which are supplemented with calcium and iron. Also, better nutrition education programs should be established to improve high school students dietary habit to complement these nutrients.

The purpose of this study at gifted students' solving ability of the given study task by using all knowledge and tools which encompass mathematical contents and curriculums, and developing the teaching learning materials of gifted students in accordance with their level which tan enhance their mathematical thinking ability and develop creative idea. With these considerations in mind, this paper sought for the standard and procedures of teaching learning materials development according to the levels for the education of the mathematically gifted students. presented the procedure model of material development, produced teaching learning methods according to levels in the task of figurate number, and developed prototypes and examples of teaching learning materials for the mathematically gifted students. Based on the prototype of teaching learning materials for the gifted students in mathematics in accordance with their level, this research developed the materials for students and materials for teachers, and performed the modification and complement of material through the field application and verification. It confirmed various solving processes and mathematical thinking levels by analyzing the figurate number tasks. This result will contribute to solving the study task by using all knowledge and tools of mathematical contents and curriculums that encompass various mathematically gifted students, and provide the direction of the learning contents and teaching learning materials which can promote the development of mathematically gifted students.
This study used a Chatbot, a generative artificial intelligence (AI), to analyze the interaction between the Chatbot and students when exploring critical minerals from an epistemological aspect. The results, issues to be kept in mind in the teaching and learning process using AI were discussed in terms of the role of the teacher, the goals of education, and the characteristics of knowledge. For this study, we conducted a three-session science education program using a Chatbot for 19 high school students and analyzed the reports written by the students. As a result, in terms of form, the students' questions included search-type questions and non-search-type questions, and in terms of content, in addition to various questions asking about the characteristics of the target, there were also questions requiring a judgment by combining various data. In general, students had a questioning strategy that distinguished what they should aim for and what they should avoid. The Chatbot's answer had a certain form and consisted of three parts: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. In particular, the conclusion included commentary or opinions with opinions on the content, and in this, value judgments and the nature of science were revealed. The interaction between the Chatbot and the student was clearly evident in the process in which the student organized questions in response to the Chatbot's answers. Depending on whether they were based on the answer, independent or derived questions appeared, and depending on the direction of comprehensiveness and specificity, superordinate, subordinate, or parallel questions appeared. Students also responded to the chatbot's answers with questions that included critical thinking skills. Based on these results, we discovered that there are inherent limitations between Chatbots and students, unlike general classes where teachers and students interact. In other words, there is 'limited interaction' and the teacher's role to complement this was discussed, and the goals of learning using AI and the characteristics of the knowledge they provide were also discussed.
This study investigated the effects of vitamin C supplementation on immune status in smoking and nonsmoking male college students. Blood samples were obtained from 15 healthy smoking and from 15 healthy nonsmoking volunteers before and 4 weeks after vitamin C supplementation (1000mg/day). Daily nutrient intakes was also calculated. Plasma vitamin C, E, and A concentrations, white blood cells and subpopulations, lymphocytes and subpopulations, NK cell percentage,plasma immunoglobulin A, G, M and complement C3, plasma interleukin-2 , and prostagladin E2 were measured . Daily vitamin C consumption was lower in smokers than in nonsmokers. Vitamin C supplementation significantly increased plasma vitamin C in smokers, and increased NK cell percentage in smokers and nonsmokers. Plasma IL-2 concentrations were significantly increased by vitamin C supplementation in nonsmokers, and decreased helpe $r^pressor T cell ratio were decreased by vitamin C supplementatiion , but the differences were not significant. White blood cells and subpopulation percentage and plasma prostaglandin E2 concentration were not affected by smoking and vitamin C supplementation. These findings as nonsmokers.rs.

When new services are introduced, one of the drivers for market performance of them is the interactions among existing and new services. They are characterized by the substitution or complementary effects among existing and new service or the cannibalization of existing services by new services. This paper analyzes these issues in the telecommunications service industry context. To analyze them, a simple graphical tool or State Transition Diagram(STD) is developed and used. The diagram helps to clearly represent and explain the substitution, complement and cannibalization impact. Then, using the face-to-face survey of 1,200 people, a new wireless internet access service or WiBro is analyzed to identify the substitution/complement and cannibalization impacts in relation with the other competing services. Additionally, the important factors explaining customer subscription and substitution behavior are identified. The analysis results indicate that males, students or on-line game users are more likely to subscribe WiBro. Also, among the potential WiBro subscribers, customers who are less satisfied with the existing fixed line broadband internet access services are more likely to stop subscribing the fixed line service, which implies substitution by a new service. Additionally, this raises the issue of cannibalization if the existing and new services are provided by the same company. In fact we find the cannibalization effect is more serious for the cost sensitive group. We believe that our tool, approach, analysis results and their implications would be very helpful to devise a winning strategy for the new services in the highly uncertain telecommunications business environment.
Purpose: This study is to examine the relationship between safety awareness and safety accident occurrence with elementary school students. Materials and methods: It selected 10 elementary schools under the supervision of Jeonnam Board of Education and sampled 700 students randomly from 2-3 classes in the 5th and the 6th grade. One preliminary survey was conducted to revise and complement the contents and forms of questionnaire with 70 students of a school from Apr. 1 to 6, 2004 and this study was conducted from Apr. 10 to 30, 2004. Total 700 questionnaires were distributed and 681 were collected (97%) and 602 were used for final analysis except 79 lacking responses. Data collected were analyzed with SPSS statistical program. Results: The average score of safety awareness of subjects by area was high as 2.72 points out of a possible 3. Area showing the highest safety awareness was safety from fire. Girl students had higher safety awareness than boy students. The fifth graders had higher safety awareness than the sixth graders. In safety awareness by the number of siblings, single son or single daughter showed the highest safety awareness. 53.2% of the subjects experienced accident for one year, the frequency of accident was mostly once and most of accidents were occurred at school. Accidents for the last year were higher in boy students, the sixth graders. According to relationship between safety awareness and safety accident, group with lower safety awareness in school safety(P < .022), traffic safety(P < .016), fire safety(P < .019), home safety(P < .007) and accident treatment and first aid(P < .003) had higher safety accidents than that with higher safety awareness. Conclusion: Development of safety education program by grade, that of parents safety education program, field experience and practice with students, teachers and parents and various safety education programs should be substantially and repeatedly accomplished for prevention education of safety accidents. In addition, to prevent and cope with safety accidents, safety education should be reflected on normal education, safety education textbook be developed, special safety education teachers be employed for safety education.
