  • The main purpose of this study is to design the port maketing strategies for strengthening the competitive power of container terminal. So far many attempts have been to analyze the international competitiveness of the terminal. As a results, Six factors hypothesized by this study come from previous research analysis about customers preference for port selection. Those are Cost, Centrality, and Intermediacy, Free trade port, Inland transportation connections, Political and Economic institution, and Port facilities. This study analyze the most important factor about hub port, and transhipment port separately, though questionnaire analysis about users(shipper, shipping company, and freight forwarder) influenced on port selection. The results of this study were found as follows : Equations See Full-text

  • The correlations among the fourteen items of the Bortner Scale are proved not to be very strong. In this case the method of flat summing of all the variables(Johnston and Schaper 1983) can be little valid because each variable has a statistically different weight. The Bortner Scale through the factor analysis of the German data has shown a diverse factor structure of Type A behavior that contains five sub-factors such as ‘speed and urgency’, ‘introversion’, ‘little listening to others’, ‘competitiveness and ambition’ and ‘mobilization’. And what is more, the Bortner Revised Scale through another factor analysis of the Korean data has revealed more complicated factor structure which is composed of eighteen sub-factors. In addition, only two of the German five sub-factors such as ‘speed and urgency’ and ‘mobilization’ are associated with cardiovascular disease. The association is stronger in infarction than in angina pectoris.

  • This study analyzed the amount of displacement of window wipers according to pressure by using finite element analysis (FEA) with KS standards for aluminum alloy window wipers manufactured by die-casting method. The product design was changed over four steps considering the die-casting process to achieve strength greater than that of the conventional steel window wiper. According to the FEA results, the strength of final aluminum alloy window wiper improved by 55% over that of a steel window wiper, and the weight of the former was less by approximately 45%. Therefore, there is the possibility of module downsizing for driving motor capacity. Further, the cost competitiveness improved, and the manufacturing process of aluminum alloy window wipers was simplified.

  • The original conventional railway was designed to be stand against 150km/h and it is still being operated at the present. However, if the speed of train is improved up to 200km/h in the near future in order to get competitiveness, we examined how the speed effect on the rail and we analyzed the effect of vibration, the stress and the displacement of the rail material by the change of the speed and the change of the property of matter through the hydrostatical and the dynamic analysis about the absence of the rail. As the result of the analysis by the above method, we got the prove that the best synthetic hardness of the rail is $75{\pm}10KN/mm$. Therefore, it is proved that rail pad has to be improved.

  • CEN/TS 45545 is Europe consolidation standard for fire safety on railway behicles. This is based on the International Union of Railways(UIC) and different European countries. It is intended to protect passengers and staff in railway in the event of a fire on board. It will be prepared in 2012. Based on this consolidate standard, they are going to make single market, for raising technical competitiveness, technical innovation and globalization of that standard. For this reason, European academies, manufacturers, and sub-manufacturers confer and stady animated about CEN/TS 45545. In Korea, get out the safety assessment for ues incombustible interior material, the needs of quantitative analysis on fire protection, demand on recognition of fire protection scenario, and define about fire load analysis are becomin more and more important. Therefore, this paper will estimate and compare Flammability, Smoke Density, Toxicity Index( this is the key point for appraised fire safety performance of material) between CEN/TS45545 and fire standards on railway vehicle. Then suggest criteria for fire safety on railway vehicles.

  • The high speed rolling stock system considerably belongs to a special industry which requires large-scale investment cost but the recovery term is long. Therefore, to guarantee risk and possibility of technological success in initial investment, tools concerned with various expecting methods like life cycle costs analysis and credibility management are used. In view of this characteristics, the cases on cost structure for HSR RS previously invested should be studied and the method to appropriately allocate the life cycle of each sub-system like arrangement unit, electric device, braking device, door and car body should be realized. Moreover, the environmental aspects of main manufacturer and parts supplier can be checked. This study, through the case study for HSR cost structure in introduction and operational stage of KTX, aims to seek for the method to adapt to environmental changes like EU railway industry of which object is to acquire global market competitiveness by integrating manufacturing and operation of RS and the regulation and operation of IRIS which is performed in Europe.

  • The interactive diffusion of technological knowledge across industries is reckoned as the principal determinant of the industrial competitiveness in the knowledge-based economy. The flow of technological knowledge takes place through two major channels, embodied and disembodied ones. This paper analyzes, from the dynamic perspective, the functional role and changing relationship of major Korean industries in terms of embodied and disembodied technological knowledge flow-structures during 1980s. We measure, as a proxy, the knowledge by the number of R&D researchers. The inter-industrial embodied and disembodied knowledge flows are measured by the input-output technique and the technological similarity is quantified according to the R&D researchers'academic background, respectively. Based on the comparative and correlation analysis between the two knowledge flow-structures, it is found that there exist, albeit not striking, both similarities and differences between them. However, interestingly and indicatively, we find that the two flow structures become more similar as time goes by. Some explanatory comments and policy implications are presented.

  • Purpose - This study reviews changes in the steel export-import structure between Korea and Japan using a trade related index; it focuses on analyzing comparative advantage based on time-series analysis statistics data using the trade intensity index (TII), revealed comparative advantage index (RCA), and trade specialization index (TSI). Research design, data, and methodology - In terms of their economic phase, Korea and Japan have a mutually complementary character. Therefore, this study aims to understand each country's trade structure to strengthen Korea-Japan economic cooperation, examine trade drawbacks, analyze factors that affect trade, and identify ways to improve and expand trade. Results - The results indicate immense potential for mutual cooperation and complementariness, which will yield guaranteed adequate profits comparable to those of any regional economic integrated community. Conclusion - From our viewpoint, Northeast economic cooperation can facilitate industry technological cooperation with Japanese partners in the prevailing environment that is characterized by increasing competition among industries and the need to secure stable resource supplies as well as the expansion of the export market and diversification, which can have significant positive implications.

  • It has been known generally that investment in the extending ability to use the IT applications have further enhanced the productivity of effects of IT on firms by reducing costs, increasing returns, and increasing the speed of operations, etc. Notwithstanding this fact, it was very complex and difficult to evaluate concretely the effect of informatization of firm. SMEs(Small- & Medium-sized Enterprises) in particular. In this study, I point out the weakness of SMEs and analyze the effects of informatization through the count data model. For this analysis, I separate the effects into two part, such as organizational effect and personal effect. It comes to conclusion that organizational effect is larger than personal effect and the ability to practical use of IT systems is most efficient item related with informatization level. Since it will be important to cencentrate on raising this ability for heightening the competitiveness of SMEs.

  • Nowadays, IT becomes one of the core competencies in a business. So defining appropriate responsibilities & roles of IT human resources as well as setting the professionalism of them is getting more important. However, there are lots of problems between the supply and the demand of IT human resource. The efforts to arrange workers who have expert knowledge and skill in right place are needed to strengthen national competitiveness. Recently, several leading countries are setting IT skill standards to solve such problems. Therefore, this paper aims at analyzing IT skill standards of developed countries such as ITSS of Japan, SFIA of United Kingdom, and SSIT of USA. By doing comparative analysis of current status of Korea with them, we derive some meaningful insights to develop a national IT skill standard.
