If a system has a large boundary and complexity, forecast's accuracy will be very low when consider the system's substance as black box. Thus, it is necessary that analysis by structure model. To examine competition in Northeast Asia Ports, it has assumed that the form of structure model, For which the System Dynamics method is adapted in this paper. Northeast Asia Ports Model includes five ports - Pusan, Kobe, Yokohama, Kaoshiung, Keelung, - which are adjacent to each other by geographically and has a competition relation. The Northeast Asia Ports Model has several sub-systems which consists of each unit port models. And, each unit port model found by quantitive, qualititive factors and their feedback loops. All effects which components of one port have influence to components of the rest ports must be surveyed in order to construct Northeast Asia Ports Model, but it may be impossible currently. In this paper Northeast Asia Ports Model was simplified by HFP-Hierarchical Fuzzy Process Method-adapted to integration of level variables of unit port model. Container cargo volumes in Northeast Ports Model is distributed by results of HFP method. And distributed container cargo volumes effected to unit port model. Developed model can estimate change of container cargo volumes in competitive relation by alternation of simple parameter, and reflects dynamics characteristics which are included in model.

To study about core capability which becomes the kernel of sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) in cyber university which confronts competition-deepening circumstance, the value and importance of brand and educational services of cyber universities which stand on the basis of offline university were examined. Moreover, core capability based on the importance of cyber university service was searched, and its strategic course were suggested. Within research processes, competition environment of cyber university was forecasted, and importance to build up its core capability was examined. Moreover, conjoint analysis was carried out for three offline cyber universities. As a result of survey analysis, effectiveness of cyber university brand showed greater influence than other characteristics in terms of the influence which affects consumer preference for cyber university. Therefore, to overcome weaknesses of brand asset in low brand power cyber university, establishment of strong core capability which reflects consumer preference is needed to carry out differentiation strategy or concentration strategy, and it is necessary to consider the introduction of new competitiveness structure.

This study reviews maritime transport policy regarding liner conference and the changes in the liner market over the decades. Liner shipping industry has long been protected from competition by block exemption. To prevent excessive competition in punctual operation and its inelastic market structure, liner shipping companies formed conferences that are protected to fix the prices under the law. In the US, deregulation in transport sector began from 80's and continuing with OSRA 1998, conferences were dissolving. On the other hand, the EU with close conference system, Regulation 4056/86 contained block exemption remained in force for unlimited time without review clause. However, in Oct 2008, the EU has announced its removal, and conferences were no longer permitted to fix the price nor exchange information. Although OSRA 1998 has already broken up conferences by allowing individual service contracts, but the repeal of the immunity for price fixing will alter significantly the rule on cooperation in the industry since it is a unilateral move by the EU, especially in transatlantic lane. There are rapid changes in shipping market getting much more complicated, and with removal of 4056/86 allowing the market to be more competitive, opening up the industry with far more diverse strategic options. Hence this paper reviews on liner shipping industry and its changes of policies over the years from protected market to open competition market of today.

This paper examined the present status of local newspapers and their problems. It was originated from the fact that the number of local newspapers have continuously increased since 1987 when the establishment of newspaper company became convenient, and that as a result the competition among local newspapers became high and several unexpected negative out comes brought forth. The analytical focus of this parer was placed on the internal and external environments surroundings local newspapers. The results showed followings: There are too many local newspapers competing each other in the same area; Financial crises mainly caused by over-competition are critical; Ownership and business operations are too distorted to take the socially expected role of newspapers; Many newspapers are often mobilized for the political and economic purposes of the owner; Market rules and advertising inducement practices are likely to be violated because of over-competition; the morales of Journalists are decreased and work qualities are deteriorated. On the basis of these findings this paper suggested several policy implications: The structure of ownership has to be changed into a direction where a few major stock-holders cannot influence the whole business operations; Top managers have to change their business motivation from profit-seeking to profit-sharing; business practices has to be open and clean; New editorial polices attracting readers have to be established; qualified Journalists have to be recruited and they have to be retrained throughout their career life.

In this study, we introduce the optimization method of fuzzy inference systems that is based on Hierarchical Fair Competition-based Parallel Genetic Algorithms (HFCGA) and information data granulation, The granulation is realized with the aid of the Hard C-means clustering and HFCGA is a kind of multi-populations of Parallel Genetic Algorithms (PGA), and it is used for structure optimization and parameter identification of fuzzy model. It concerns the fuzzy model-related parameters such as the number of input variables to be used, a collection of specific subset of input variables, the number of membership functions, the order of polynomial, and the apexes of the membership function. In the optimization process, two general optimization mechanisms are explored. The structural optimization is realized via HFCGA and HCM method whereas in case of the parametric optimization we proceed with a standard least square method as well as HFCGA method as well. A comparative analysis demonstrates that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional methods. Particularly, in parameter identification, we use the UNDX operator which uses multiple parents and generate offsprings around the geographic center off mass of these parents.

The purpose of this study is to consider the problem on pursuit of logistics strategy by our international shipping company in international shipping business under the said circumstance due to the open international shipping market and to suggest the logistics strategy for the consideration of the logistics competition under new international shipping circumstances. The results of empirical analysis are mentioned as follows; First, it shall be considered to maintain the size of company bigger than a certain capability so that it may obtain the superior competition of logistics. Second, as there are the plus correlations between the competition of logistics and the logistic support, it is necessary to pursuit the upgrade service with using EDI system and making up the complex shipping and integrated logistics system in general. Third, with the rationalization of finance policy and the profitable management of shipping company the ratio of net worth can be raised and it can be achieved to make the sound financial structure as reducing the excessive debt ratio. Fourth, it can be effort continuously to perform the investment for the infrastructure of logistics support & the institutional supplement so that it may achieve to increase the efficiency of logistic support at pier and to reduce the cost of logistic support.

Nowadays, after beginning of 21 centuries, owing to simplify market, the world is in the era of an influx of new paradigm that requires infinite competition. The manufacturing industries of Korea are in need of casting off high cost and low efficiency structure. The forfeiture of competition is resulted from the lost of level in quality of product. Today, the achievement of competitive product quality is coming from the following factors, that is., quality control, quality of service, marketing, human resources, finance, etc., together with process management. While Six Sigma, a newly introduced method to achieve process qualify outcome by sector of enterprise, is now being enjoyed a high reputation as a key device for competition by superiority enterprises in the United States, it has not been introduced sufficiently in the domestic enterprises yet. In our research, we, first of all, organized systematically the materials being released up to now. Furthermore, we looked over case studies of the American enterprises that apply Six Sigma strategy very successfully. Finally, we discussed the situation of domestic enterprises which are about to importing Six Sigma strategy as well as main causation of success by adopting it. While the enterprises approach Six Sigma strategy not in the way of on time and short term but in the way of long term, consistent renovation and persistent innovation we can assure that they will produce the highest quality and globally competitive products which are second to none.

In this study, the methodology for measuring the structure of the Korean defense market and the competition status, and the characteristics of the Korean defense industry and the market are examined. To analyze the structure of the Korean defense market and the competition status, the market share, concentration ratio, and the Herfindal-Hirschman index are employed based on the annual sales of major Korean defense companies. On a basis of the result of the analysis, the suggestions for the Korean defense market to escape from the monopolistic market to be a competitive geographical market are presented. To present the suggestions, markets that have a similarity with the dense market are analyzed. The government's support policy, the selection of the companies led by the government, and the cost of the military are suggested for the defense market on a basis of analyzing similar markets. With the suggestions, when the government pursues the policies, the defense market sticking to principles and fairness is created and the efficiency of the companies operation is achieved, by enhancing the structure of the market fundamentally and the development of the policies in the industry's perspective.

Because the structure of the economy is being changed from product-oriented and company-centered economy to service-oriented and customer-centered economy, and the market competition is varying with the competition of non-price factors, the importance for customer service of logistics system is being increased. Thus, the level of customer service should be represented as an element of the logistics decision and the facility location decision. The level of customer service provided by logistics system has an effect on customers\` purchase decisions, hence on the market demand. That is, the market demand is elastic for customer service as it is influenced by product price. Considering the effect of customer service on demand, this study develops the market area which each facility will serve. That area is circular, and distance norm is considered Euclidean and Rectilinear (or Manhattan) distance norm. The market demand for product at a particular area is affected by the level of customer service that facility provides, and the relationship between the market demand and the level of customer service is represented with a mathematical function.

Although many system dynamists point out the close relationship between institutional economics and system dynamics, the relationship between institutional political theory and system dynamics approach is not explicitly appreciated yet. We developed a system dynamics model to investigate theoretical propositions of institutional politics. Our system dynamics model showed how the endogenous mechanism can explain the political changes as well as orders. Although simple in the causal structure, our model could show a complex behavior of political competition. Several simulation results imply that some unexpected changes in election and power competition may come from the endogenous system rather than from exogenous factors such as economic and environmental shocks.
