Setting Considerations of Distance Relay for Transmission Line with STATCOM

  • Distance relay plays an important role in the protection of transmission lines. The application of flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) devices, such as the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), could affect the performance of the distance relay because of compensation effect. This paper analyzes the application of distance relay on the protection of a transmission line containing STATCOM. New setting principles for different protection zones are proposed based on this analysis. A typical 500 kV transmission system employing STATCOM is modeled using Matlab/Simulink. The impact of STATCOM on distance protection scheme is studied for different fault types, fault locations, and system configurations. Based on simulation results, the performance of distance relay is evaluated. The setting principle can be verified for the transmission line with STATCOM.

  • This paper proposes a new type of voltage sag-swell compensator based on a Z-source AC-AC converter. The proposed topology employs a pulse width modulation (PWM) Z-source AC-AC converter along with a injection transformer. A safe commutation strategy is used to eliminate voltage spikes on switches without snubber circuit. During a voltage sag or swell, the proposed system controls the adding or missing voltage and maintains the rated voltage of sinusoidal waveform at the terminals of the critical loads. The proposed system is able to compensate 20[%] voltage swell and is also able to compensate 60[%] voltage sag. In order to control and detect the voltage sag and swell, the peak voltage detection method is applied. Also, the operating principles of the proposed system are described, and a circuit analysis is provided. Finally, PSIM simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed concept and theoretical analysis.

  • This paper describes the four switch three-phase Z-source active power filter. This novel configuration has many advantages like reduction of cost, switching loss and smaller drive circuit. The paper presents an application of direct current control(DCC) method in a three-phase parallel Z-source active power filter to reduce the harmonics generated by the nonlinear load. The compensation principles and dynamics of the system are discussed in detail. The results show that the proposed control strategy is feasible and efficient.

  • Directional elements are fundamental to protection scheme security and selectivity, performing such critical tasks as supervising distance elements and controlling overcurrent elements. But, conventional operating principles for directional detection based on negative or zero sequence quantify do not satisfy the requirements for improved sensitivity and fast operation under any fault conditions. In this paper, new algorithm for directional elements is proposed. The proposed algorithm use the positive-sequence superimposed voltages and currents in order to be used in all fault conditions. Also, because this algorithm uses a voltage compensation method. it can be well operated under strong source conditions.

  • As the necessity to utilize deep-placed underground spaces is increasing, we have to seriously consider the safety problems arising from the U/G spaces which is a restricted environment. Due to the higher cost of land compensation for above ground area and environmental issues, the plan to utilize deep-placed U/G spaces is currently only being established for the construction of U/G road network and GTX. However it is also expected that the U/G spaces are to be used as a living space because of the growing desires to change the above ground areas into the environmentally green spaces. Accordingly it is necessary to protect the U/G environments which is vulnerable against desasters caused by fire, explosion, flooding, terrorism, electric power failure, etc. properly. We want to introduce the principles of the Quantitative Risk Assessment(QRA) method for preparedness against the desasters arising from U/G environments, and also want to introduce an example of QRA which was implemented for the GOTTHARD tunnel which is the longest one in Europe.

  • In this paper, we proposed and implemented defect detection methods of polarized film with half-wave phase retardation plates. We investigated the principles of phase retardation compensation and optical principle of half-wave phase retardation plates. We analyzed of samples of polarized film with half-wave phase retardation plates. The optical defect detection methods are proposed and the performance is validated with experiments.

  • 본 연구는 맥락 특화적인 서번트 리더십의 제안을 목적으로 항공운수서비스 업종의 승무원 직종을 대상으로 서번트 리더십이 하위직급 리더(사무장)에 대한 부하의 신뢰와 직무몰입에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 회귀분석의 결과, 리더신뢰에 대해서는 청지기정신 차원에서 리더 자신이 희생을 보이는 일, 부하들의 의견을 적극 반영하는 일이 영향력을 행사하였다. 공동체형성 차원에서는 협력을 통하여 일하는 것과 원칙 규칙을 지키는 일, 리더가 보상을 추구하지 않는 것, 부하에게 필요한 권한을 주는 것이 유의한 영향을 끼쳤다. 직무몰입에 대해서는 청지기정신 차원에서 부하가 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 일과 리더가 도전적으로 업무에 임하는 것이 유의한 영향력을 행사하였다. 공동체형성의 항목 중에는 리더가 보상을 추구하지 않는 것과 원칙 규칙을 지키는 일이 부하의 직무몰입을 조성하는 것으로 나왔다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 기업의 인사책임자에게 재래의 리더십프로그램을 지양하고, 기업이 처한 맥락에 맞는 맞춤형 인재의 선발과 훈련을 제안한다.

  • 공기지연과 관련하여 발생하는 간접비(Markup)에 구성된 잠재적 기회이익부분이 계약금액의 조정에서 제한된 계약제도, 배상요건으로서의 법익침해 해석문제, 또는 회계의 비용으로서 인식되지 않음으로 인해 배상되지 않고 있다. 국내외적으로 회계기준은 발생주의, 법익의 개념상 손해배상의 범위를 주로 제한배상주의에 기하여 채택하고 있어 불법행위에 의한 후속적 특수손해인 기회이익의 직접상실손해는 채무로서 인정되지 않아 배상되어지지 않기 때문이다. 따라서 일방의 계약위반으로 공기가 지연된다면, 그로 인한 계약당사자간의 직${\cdot}$간접적인 후속 손해가 발생하게 되므로 그 손해의 크기를 정량화하고 법규정의 배상적용타당성 검증과 배상체계에 관한 합리적 적용방안을 마련할 필요가 있다.

  • 개인정보는 금융거래의 성립조건이며 금융회사의 핵심자산이다. 그러나 정보사회의 부작용으로써 나타난 개인정보 침해사고는 중대한 사회적 위험이 되고 있으며, 이러한 위험은 개인과 회사의 실제적 피해로써 현실화되고 있다. 본 연구는 소비자의 손실 측면에서 개인정보 침해 사고로 인해 금융 분야에서 발생한 금전적, 정신적 손해 현황을 분석하고, 이러한 실제 손해를 최소화하기 위한 위험전가의 수단으로써 보험의 유용성을 제시하였다. 그리고 개인 정보 침해 사고 보상보험의 구성요소와 보험료의 산정원리를 검토하고 최종적으로 이러한 보험 제도를 활성화하기 위한 정책을 제안하였다. 위험관리의 한 방법으로써 보험은 소비자 보호와 회사의 재무적 건전성을 동시에 확보할 수 있는 유용한 수단이며, IT 리스크의 계량적 측정을 위한 기반을 제공할 수 있다.

손해배상책임(損害賠償責任)의 일반원칙(一般原則)에 관한 비교연구(比較硏究) (A Comparative Analysis on the General Principles of the Liability for Damages)

  • All legal systems set out the principle of full compensation of damages, which aims to fulfil the plaintiff's expectations by putting him into as good a position as he would have been in if the contract had been performed. On the other hand, they place some limitations on the full recoverability of damages for breach of contract. In Civil Law systems, 'fault' is a necessary requirement for liability for damages, and the extent of recoverable damages is directly related to the degree of the dependent's fault. This principle, however, is not adopted by Common Law systems, in which the dependent would be liable in damages for breach of contract even though the breach was not due to his fault. The CISG is in a similar position to the latter systems. In Common Law systems as well as CISG, the extent of liability of the party in breach for damages depends on whether he foresaw or could have foreseen the damages at the time of contracting. Unlike the position in Civil Law systems, foreseeability seems to be the most effective principle to decide the extent. The tests for remoteness centre on reasonable foreseeability or contemplation of the loss. The party in breach is liable even for loss indirectly caused to the other party provided that this loss was foreseeable or contemplated by the party in breach. However, this manner to decide remoteness may lead to unreasonable results in some cases. If the party in breach were the inveterate pessimist who foresaw all sorts of possible damages, he could foresee damages too remote from the breach of duty. If this fact were revealed in the course of trial, he should be liable for such indirect damages. This is really undesirable result. Therefore, as to the remoteness test, the criterion of whether the loss is foreseen or contemplated must not be adopted. Foreseeability by reasonable person must be the only available criterion.
