  • The thesis is a comparative analysis of Infill Technologies between Korea's long-life Mock-up House, a study driven by 'Durability and Flexibility of Long-life Housing Technology Development' of R&D, and Japan's KSI experimental house, the major example of Japan's long-llfe housing. In terms of the domestic Mock-up House, a system of building the floor first was applied. The floor material of each housing unit required a development of dry heating component that is partially substitutable in order to avoid conflict with the finishing. Also, a development of a floor system that can counteract against the construction inaccuracy was required. In the Case of an outer wall, need to make the wall with the chassis. In the case of ceiling, need to develop the double ceiling system which is good for sound insulation. Also, in comparison to KSI experimental house in Japan, it would require to develop a wiring system of the ceiling which can react to the movement of the wall. Especially, to assure the flexible nature of an internal wall, it would desperately require the research and development of the products related to components and flexible system of mechanical/electrical/communication parts as well as supporting institutionalized system for this development. Furthermore, for KSI experimental house in Japan, it would be necessary to formulate a construction manual as well as a systematic and practical planning guide to invent a new interface rule which will secure simplicity of assembling, dismantling, installation and replacement of architectural components for which research development is quite insignificant at the moment. This effort will have to continue to give a solid direction for better application of such reference manual during construction and development of long life span apartment by public sector as well as private corporations.

  • This study was to examine the occurrence of geographic song variation and its pattern of transitional direction among bush warbler populations distributed in Korea and Japan, Bush warbler songs (n=283) of 25 males from Cheongwon and Jeju, Korea, and from Chiba, Japan were analyzed. Chiba individuals had more song types and had the higher dominant frequency and longer duration of the introductory whistle portion than Cheongwon and Jeju individuals. In measure of eight song parameters, the parameters constantly showed a decreasing or increasing tendency. The constant tendency showed direction related with the geographic location from Chiba to Cheongwon. The difference in song parameters between Cheongwon and Chiba populations was the greatest in comparison to that of other sets of geographic populations. The degree of discrimination among the three populations was 92.00%. These results indicate that there is a geographic song variation between bush warblers of Japan and Korea, and that the song transition has been directed from Chiba (Japan) through Jeju to Cheongwon (Korea).

  • As Gyoto Agreement, the Climate Change Agreement, has become effective, total weight restriction on waste has started in each country and environment issue becomes one of the most important global issues. Therefore, environmental logistics became important matter, and industries need to establish production system for environmental conscious products and services. In this paper, we compare and analyze environmental conscious logistics activity(ECLA) that affect Carbon Dioxide Discharge(CDD) and packaging waste caused by logistics activity in Korea and Japan. We also propose the optimal alternative to the problem by this comparison and analysis.

  • This study compared and analyzed, after extracting the subject titles related to Korea and Japan from the second version of Chinese Classified Thesaurus, the number of titles and characteristics according to the subjects. The analysis result shows that total number of Korea-related titles including proper nouns was 215, which is limited in comparison to that of Japan, in terms of the number and diversity of the subjects. Particularly, the CCT does not accurately reflect the current state of Korea as it uses the word 'Josun' to denote Korea and calls Korean War 'Josun War' as well as only recording it in North Korean history. Meanwhile, Japan-related subject titles include many that show the complicated historical relationship between Japan and China, such as Manchurian Incident and Japan-China War.

  • In this study, a dwelling type of Korea and Japan was compared, and consumption rate of domestic timber and its usage was also investigated. In Korea, dwelling type of apartment which constructed by iron and steel-concrete is main shared, but a detached house which is shared at 60% of dwelling type of Japan is mainly constructed by timber. And the rate of the consumption of domestic wood in Japan is 73%. In Japan, there is an effort to substitute imported wood to domestic timber through the promotion of using of domestic timber. Whereas the needs on using of domestic timber gradually emerged. So, the legal about sustainable use of wood is approved by the National Assembly on May 2012. There is not active movement in the aspect of using of domestic timber yet. These causes to the geographical and environmental characteristics, but industry, policy, and the difference of recognize on domestic timber utilization is thought to do greater influence. Hence, it is recommended to make a portfolio of both balanced domestic timber usage and the change of awareness of people by referring to the example of Japan.

  • The paper sets the goal as understanding relationship between usability and subjective preference with the cross- cultural comparison between korea and Japan. Total 42 Korean and japanese housewives participated in the experiment where subjects evaluated their subjective preferences on 16 different variations of computer-simulated microwave ovens. In additions, subjects also performed usability testing over 9 different microwave ovens with 6 different tasks given to users. Subjective preferences and usability were analyzed by Conjoint analysis to identify relative importance of features. The results showed that, in case of Korean subjects, subjective preference has positive relationship with usability (i.e. aesthetically good product also showed better performance in usability testing). However, Japanese subjects showed the tendency that subjectively preferred products are not necessarily evaluated good in usability testing (i.e. god aesthetic is one thing and high usability is another). this difference leads the speculation that culture plays a role in balancing the relationship between aesthetic and functionality.

  • This study compared with the object of designation and the management practices for Protection Forests between Korea and Japan to establish the management and development directions of Korea's Protection Forest. 1. Water conservation forest from total areas of Protection Forests occupied 90.6 % in Korea and 68.4 % in Japan, respectively. The water conservation forest was the most important function among the Protection Forest's functions in both countries. 2. The 10 million ha of Protection Forest in Japan increased for last 100 years. The 100 thousand ha per year was designated as Protection Forest. In contrast, The 655,535 ha of Protection Forest in Korea decreased for last 42 years with decreasing of 15,000 ha per year. 3. In Japan, Protection Forest can be managed by forest silvicultural practices such as forest harvest, thinning, and pruning to recover and improve the Protection Forest's functions. 4. In case of Korea, it is necessary to a mid- or long-term counter plan to increase the area of Protection Forest by the government, and needs to the recovery and improvement of Protection Forest's functions.

  • In recent years, the number of love stories in Japanese TV series are decreasing. Comparing this with Korean popular TV series in Japan, it was found that Korean TV series have the following differences. In the Japanese series, the main characters were mostly from common origin. The conflicts within each relationship stage illustrated the conflicts between characters and their surroundings, as well as the conflicts which commonly arise in real life, that with the self. Confessions of love in the Japanese series used simpler expressions. Some couples did not even say "I love you". Further, when love was threatened, rarely was deep attachment shown. There were even cases where the main characters did not end up as a couple. On the other hand, there often existed a class difference between the male and female main characters in the Korean series and conflicts mostly arose from differences of environment, illness, love rivals, and etc. Every couple verbally confessed their love and they used more passionate expressions of love than in the Japanese series, and when love was threatened no man backed down and each showed his deep attachment. Finally, there were happy endings for everyone even after the many complications.

  • This study has aimed to compare an emission trading system (ETS) in the EU and Japan that introduced the scheme prior to Korea and provided the latter with a benchmarking model. Especially, the EU has a reputation for its well-organized and evolving system, and Japan has also successfully established the system despite its similar condition with Korea, such as an industrial structure and the degree of energy dependence. However, there are noticeable differences between the EU and Japan in their ETS. Whereas Japan has focused on securing certifications in CDM as the implementation of Kyoto protocol, EU has shown a tendency to transform the trading market from a parallel structure of EUA and CER transaction to only the EUA transaction after ending of 1st commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol. Since the differences were mainly caused by not only in a design of the system but also in internal governance and their national circumstance, it is meaningful to analyse the Korean case with a similar framework. This study may contribute to designing an appropriate system for emission trading in Korea through the comparison of the EU and Japanese case.

  • Taiwan and Korea have common memories of colonization by Japan. Therefore, for researchers studying colonial times, the two countries are becoming good comparative studies. In this article, a comparison of cultural properties systems between Taiwan and Joseon revealed the following. First, from a legal point of view, Japan's internalism was reflected to some extent in Taiwan. Accordingly, Taiwan's "Enforcement regulations for Historical scenic spot scenic natural monument storage method(short, Enforcement regulations)" was subordinate to Japanese law, and the Joseon's "Enforcement ordinances for Treasure and Historical scenic spot scenic natural monument storage method in Joseon(short, Enforcement ordinances)" was less than the preservation order of Taiwan. But it is not possible to equate the two differences to Japan's oppressive levels. Second, while the Joseon's "Enforcement ordinances" enactment referred to relevant laws that were promulgated in Japan, it is highly likely that Taiwan's "Enforcement regulations" When establishing Joseon's "Enforcement ordinances" order, it is reasonable to assume that all laws concerning cultural properties of Japan and Taiwan were taken into consideration. Third, the difference between Taiwan and Joseon in the quantity and content designated as cultural properties was huge. The difference in the designated quantity between Taiwan and Joseon was the difference between traditional cultural resources between the two regions, which led to 14 times more cultural properties designated in Joseon than in Taiwan. And while nearly half of Taiwan's history was the vestiges of Japan's ruling power, few of the ancient sites designated by the Joseon had traces of Japanese ruling forces. This is the result of a difference in the views that the two powers had on cultural properties.
