  • Repeated measurement data among several treatments with a control is often used in the field of medicine study. In this paper, we suggest a method for comparison of the linear trend of responds followed time among several treatments with a control based on repeated measurement data. First, we estimate slope from each subject and generate samples using the slope estimated previous. And then, we test the difference among treatment with a control by ANOVA F test, Jonckheere-Terpstra test, updated control group procedure using generated samples. Monte Carlo Simulation is adapted to compare the power and experimental significance levels in various configuration.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of resistive exercise using an elastic band on range of motion, function and shoulder pain. Methods: Forty two subjects who had rotator cuff surgery were assigned either to a treatment or a comparison group, twenty one each. Following a six week period after surgery those in the treatment group participated in resistant exercise using an elastic band for four weeks. The subjects in the comparison group did not participate in the exercise program. The goniometer measured range of motion, a modified tool measured function, and a self report numerical rating scale measured pain. The data were analyzed using $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact, t-test and the Mann-Whitney Test. Results: Although not statistically significant, there was a trend that more subjects in the treatment group had increased range of motion. There was a statistically significance among the treatment group in terms of increased function (p=.015). Further the treatment group reported less pain that those in the comparison group (p<.001). Conclusion: The findings support that resistance exercise is an effective strategy for patients with rotator cuff repair.

After 10% & 20% concentrations of liquid extract of Cynanchum Wilfordii Hemsley were acupunctured on Joksamri(足三里) of rats with acute and chronic experimental oxidation by AAPH(2, 2'-azobis(aminoidinopropane), hydrochoride), various kinds of experiments were measured. The results were obtained as follows: 1. In acute antioxidant experiment, the amount of TBARS indicated irregular increase and decrease to over 68% in experiment group in comparison with normal group. 2. In the serum test of acute antioxident experiment, uric acid and total protein and albumin were significantly increased in experiment group in comparison with control group. 3. In chronic antioxident experiment, the change of body weight was significantly decreased in 20% experimental groups in comparison with control group, and only liver significantly increased in 10% & 20% experiment group. 4. In chronic antioxident experiment, total protein significantly increased in 10%, 20% experimental groups and creatinine and BUN were significantly decreased in 10% experiment group. 5. In the chronic antioxident experiment, serum GOT, GPT activity didn't show no significantly change, LDH activity was significantly increase in 10% experiment group in comparison with control group. 6. In the chronic antioxident experiment, the tolerance test with enzyme activities of erythrocyte membrane was significantly decreased in 10% & 20% experimental groups. 7. In the chronic antioxident experiment, the change of TBA was significantly decreased in 10% & 20% experimental group. 8. In the chronic antioxident experiment, the amount of cytochrome p-450 was significantly increased in 10% & 20% experimental groups in comparison with control group. 9. In the chronic antioxident experiment, the amount of cytochrome b5 was significantly increase in 20% experimental group in comparison with control group. 10. In the chronic antioxident experiment, the change of activity of superoxide dismutase, and catalase were significantly increased in 20% experiment group in comparison with control group. From the above result, it was concluded considers the liquid extract of Cynanchum Wilfordii Hemsley(白何首烏) could be used as antiaging drugs, because it delayed the aging process and retarded senility.

  • Korean High Speed Train(KHST) has been tested on the high speed test line in Osung site of Korea High Speed Rail Construction Authority (KHRC). since it was developed as G7 Project Plan In 2002. This paper introduces the dynamic test devices in KHST and shows the comparison between the results of test and theoretical computing results which derive from the new model for KHST dynamic behavior. Previous computer simulation model for KHST was developed to review wether the vehicle system was satisfied with the dynamic performance requirements during the design procedure. But It should be applied the results of the parts test for suspension elements in order to compare between the results of computation and real test. Using VAMPIRE Program made by AEA Technology in UK. the new model also was modified. This paper shows that the static wheel loads calculated from new model is similar to test results. For test on high speed line, we prepared the test devices for evaluating the dynamic performances. which was consisted of the accelerometers( based on Kisler Co.) and the data aquisition systems (based on National instrument Co.), and test program coded by LabView 6i program. These lest devices and programs are flexible to extension the channels for adding sensors and connect to the ethernet network. The acceleration of car bodies, bogie frames and axle boxes were compared between the results of computation and test at 150km/. This paper shows that the results of test were high in high frequency band range but similar frequency band range. It might be considered that these differences were caused by the test which did not performed at constant speed for comparison analysis. Also. It will be able to understand the differences and make better results through a lot of tests planed in future.

  • Background and Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to validate the performance and diagnostic efficacy of the Korean digits-in-noise (K-DIN) test in comparison to the Korean speech perception-in-noise (K-SPIN) test, which is the representative speech-in-noise test in clinical practice. Subjects and Methods: Twenty-seven subjects (15 normal-hearing and 12 hearing-impaired listeners) participated. The recorded Korean 0-9 digits were used to form quasirandom digit triplets; 50 target digit triplets were presented at the most comfortable level of each subject while presenting speech-shaped background noise at various levels of signal-to-noise ratios (-12.5, -10, -5, or +5 dB). Subjects were then instructed to listen to both target and noise masker unilaterally and bilaterally through a headphone. K-SPIN test was also conducted using the same procedure as the K-DIN. After calculating their percent correct responses, K-DIN and K-SPIN results were compared using a Pearson-correlation test. Results: Results showed a statistically significant correlation between K-DIN and K-SPIN in all hearing conditions (left: r=0.814, p<0.001; right: r=0.788, p<0.001; bilateral: r=0.727, p<0.001). Moreover, the K-DIN test achieved better testing efficacy, shorter average listening time (5 min vs. 30 min), and easier performance of task according to participants' qualitative reports than the K-SPIN test. Conclusions: In this study, the Korean version of digit triplet test was validated in both normal-hearing and hearing-impaired listeners. The findings suggest that the K-DIN test can be used as a simple and time-efficient hearing-in-noise test in audiology clinics in Korea.
