  • LiDAR systems provide dense and accurate topographic information. A pre-requisite to achieving the potential accuracy of LiDAR is having a proper system calibration, which aims at estimating all the systematic errors in the system measurements and the mounting parameters relating the different components. This paper presents a rigorous and two approximate methods for LiDAR system calibration. The rigorous approach makes use of the LiDAR equation and the system raw measurements. The approximate approaches utilize simplified LiDAR equations using some assumptions, which allow for less strict requirements regarding the raw measurements. The first presented approximate method, denoted as quasi-rigorous, assumes that we are dealing with a vertical platform (i.e., small pitch and roll angles). This method requires time-tagged point cloud and trajectory position data. The second approximate method, denoted as simplified, assumes that we are dealing with parallel strips, vertical platform, and minor terrain elevation variations compared to the flying height above ground. Such method can be performed using the LiDAR point cloud only. Experimental results using a real dataset, whose characteristics deviate to some extent from the utilized assumptions in the approximate methods, are presented to provide a comparative analysis of the outcome from the introduced methods.

  • Many kinds of mass spectrometer type leak detectors have been widely used for detecting leak of vacuum processes in semiconductor and display industries etc. The leak detectors should be often calibrated by the permeation type standard leak in order to ensure accurate and reproducible leak measurement. We have developed a comparative calibration system for permeation type standard leak by using mass spectrometer type leak detector and specification of the calibration method. Following this technique the reliable calibration for leak standard ran be performed even in fields.

  • In this work, analytical bias arising from the gas chromatographic determination of sulfur compounds was evaluated by the application of direct loop injection method to the GC/PFPD detection of four sulfur compounds including H$_{2}$S, CH$_{3}$SH, DMS, and DMDS. For the proper evaluation of analytical uncertainties involved in GC calibration, we employed two comparative techniques of calibration at fxed concentration injection (CFCI) vs calibration at fixed volume injection (CFVI) method. The results of our study indicate that CFCI method exhibits very poor sensitivity due to the matrix effect with varying injection volumes. On the other hand, as CFVI method overcomes such limitation, it can be used to obtain very accurate quantification of S compounds at their high concentration levels above a few to a few tens ppb.

  • Much effort has been made in the radiometric calibration of the ocean scanning multispectral imager (OSMI) since after the successful launch of KOMPSAT-1 in 1999. A series of calibration coefficients for OSMI detectors were obtained in collaboration with the NASA Sensor Intercomparison and Merger for Biological and Interdisciplinary (SIMBIOS) project office. In this study, we compare the OSMI level-2 products (e.g., chlorophyll-a concentration) calculated from the NASA cross-calibration coefficients with the SeaWiFS counterparts. Sample study areas are some of diagonostic data sites recommended by the SIMBIOS working group. We will present the preliminary results of this comparative study.

  • Uses a Tomographic scan image and Table Object Distance(TOD) price after measuring, uses accuracy and usability of blood vessel diameter(Vessel Diameter) measurement under comparison evaluating boil TOD Calibration. The patient who enforces Prosecuting Attorney abdomen Tomographic scan in the object the superior mesentery artery uses PACS View from abdomen fault image and from blood vessel diameter and the table measures the height until of the blood vessel. Uses Angio Catheter from Angiography(5 Fr.) and enforces is measured from PACS View the height until of the table which and the blood vessel at TOD Calibration price and the size of the superior mesentery artery inputs measures an superior mesentery artery building skill. Catheter Calibration input Agnio Catheter where uses in Angiography the size of the superior mesentery artery at Catheter Calibration price and they measure. Produced an accuracy from monitoring data and comparison evaluated. The statistical program used SPSS. TOD Calibration accuracy was 96.53%, standard deviation is 0.03829. Catheter Calibration accuracy of 92.91%, standard deviation is 0.05085. Represents a statistically significant difference(p = 0). According to age and gender was not statistically significant(p > 0.05). TOD Calibration correlation coefficient R-squared of 88.8%, Catheter Calibration of the R-squared is 75.5%. High accuracy of both methods. Through this study, CT images using the measured distance between the table and the Object, TOD Calibration accuracy higher than two Catheter Calibration was measured. TOD and Catheter Calibration represents a statistically significant difference(p = 0).

  • Comparative study on the flow measurement by 5-hole and 7-hole probes was conducted in a linear cascade with tip clearances of 2.3%, 3.1%, and 4.4% of the blade span. Calibration range of the 5-hole and the 7-hole probes were ${\pm}25$ and ${\pm}50$ degrees, respectively. Results show that the secondary flow and total pressure loss measured by the 5e-hole and 7-hole probes were similar at small tip clearance cases. However, at the tip clearance of 3.1% and 4.4% of the blade span cases, flow angles exceeding the calibration range of the 5-hole probe were observed. Because of the wider calibration range, larger flow angle by strong leakage vortex could be measured by the 7-hole probe.

  • Camera calibration is an indispensable process for improving measurement accuracy in industry fields such as machine vision. However, existing calibration cannot be applied to the calibration of mid-wave and long-wave infrared cameras. Recently, with the growing use of infrared thermal cameras that can measure defects from thermal properties, development of an applicable calibration target has become necessary. Thus, based on heat conduction analysis using finite element analysis, we developed a calibration target that can be used with both existing visible cameras and infrared thermal cameras, by implementing optimal design conditions, with consideration of factors such as thermal conductivity and emissivity, colors and materials. We performed comparative experiments on calibration target images from infrared thermal cameras and visible cameras. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed calibration target.

  • The aim of this paper is to compare wavelet, kurtosis and pseudofractal based techniques for structural health monitoring in the presence of measurement noise. A detailed comparison and assessment of these techniques have been carried out in this paper through numerical experiments for the calibration of damage extent of a simply supported beam with an open crack serving as an illustrative example. The numerical experiments are deemed critical due to limited amount of experimental data available in the field of singularity based detection of damage. A continuous detectibility map has been proposed for comparing various techniques qualitatively. Efficiency surfaces have been constructed for wavelet, kurtosis and pseudofractal based calibration of damage extent as a function of damage location and measurement noise level. Levels of noise have been identified for each technique where a sudden drop of calibration efficiency is observed marking the onset of damage masking regime by measurement noise.
