  • This study examined the current status of the service networking experiences of workers in community child centers and the impact of various individual, organizational, and environmental factors on their service networking experiences. Structured questionnaires were mailed to the all community child centers in the Kyungnam area, and the data thus collected from 128 workers were used for the analysis. The findings indicated that most study participants did in fact possess service networking experience; however, the frequency was relatively low and the types of agencies in which this networking experienced was gained were somewhat limited. The results from the hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that being licensed social workers, the number of years in which a center had been operating, the numbers of workers and volunteers, the capacity of the centers, and workers' participation in work-related training were significantly associated with the frequency of worker's networking experiences. Based on the findings of this study, the implications for practice in promoting service networking among community child centers and other community resources were also discussed.

  • This paper purports to explain the conflicts and compromises between supra-national authority and national welfare state in an era of globalization. For this purpose this paper, first of all, examines if Community law(EU) is directly applicable to member states(direct applicability), and subsequently, if Community law is superior to national law(supremacy). It duly claims that Community law is de facto applicable to member states and thus is superior to national law, but de jure the direct applicability and supremacy of Community law are still ambiguous in practice. Secondly, it briefly describes the development of EU social policy from 'The Rome Treaty(1957)' to 'The Amsterdam Treaty(1997)', and ascertains clear limitations of social dimension of EU. Thirdly, it explains why CEU(Commission of European Union) sequently fails to achieve uniform harmonization policy in the making of social Europe. This paper concludes that 'downward harmonization thesis' or 'convergence thesis' which commonly stresses that globalization seriously impinges on nation-state's policy autonomy and policy capacity is not evidenced at least in the case of EU social policy.

  • This research has attempted to investigate the perception of elderly women on self esteem, psychological well-being and the moderating effect of family support on self esteem and psychological well-being. Two-hundred and six of elderly women who used senior welfare centers had been participating in the research, and their questionnaires had been filled out during personal interviews. The collected data had been analysed by using SPSS Win 15.0 and the results of this study are as follows. Firstly, the level of self-esteem perceived by elderly women was a little bit higher than middle level and the level of psychological well-being appeared to be moderate. Secondly, it was found that the self esteem of elderly women affected psychological well-being and that the higher the participants perceived self esteem, the higher the level of psychological well-being. Thirdly, family support appeared to have a moderating effect in relation to self esteem and psychological well-being. As it were, the higher the perception level of elderly women was, the higher impact of their self esteem on their psychological well-being. Therefore, there needs to be a re-consideration of the importance of family support which is being weakened due to family nuclearization as well as mechanisms for improving family support.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of temperament of child, maternal parenting behavior, social support. The data was collected from 5th to 6th grade 405 children living in Kwangju. For statistical analysis, Cranbach' ${\alpha}$, and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were summarized as follows: as a result of making a hierarchical regression analysis to find out the relative impact of gender on Ego-Resilience, sub-factors of child's temperament, maternal parenting behavior, and family and friend's social support were identified as the most important variables and predictors of ego-resilience. These results indicated that ego-resilience was the most significant variable to predict a child's temperament(attention). Ego-resilience was impacted according to the child's temperament(activity mood), friend support, maternal parenting behavior(rational guidance), in addition to the child's temperament(activity level).

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of parent-child communication, and the self-efficacy of middle school students on school adjustment. The data was collected from 285 middle school students living in Kwangju. For statistical analysis, Cronbach' $\alpha$, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's multiple Comparison Analysis, LSD and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were summarized as follows : concerning connections between demographic variables and parent-child communication, the education of the father made the most significant difference, followed by living standard, free time for communication with the father, and free time for communication with the mother. The level of communication with parent made a significant difference to each sub-factor of school adjustment. As a result of making a hierarchical regression analysis to find out the relative impact of the demographic variables on school adjustment, self-efficacy was identified as the most important variable and predictor of school adjustment. The independent variables exercised a different influence on the sub-factors of school adjustment. These results indicated that adolescent's self-efficacy is the most important variable to improve the school adjustment of students.

  • This study investigated the relationship between maternal facilitative communication perceived by children and the social adjustment which was measured as pro-social behaviors and aggressive behaviors in children. Special attention was given to the mediating effect of the child's self-regulation on the relationship. The subjects, selected by convenience sampling method, were 193 fourth and fifth grade elementary school students. Data was analyzed through Pearson's correlation, reliability analysis, and multiple regression using the SPSS 12.0. The findings of the study were as follows. First, the mother's facilitative communication perceived by the child was positively associated with the pro-social behavior, while, it was negatively correlated with the aggressive behavior of the child. Second, the mother's facilitative communication had direct effect on the prosocial behavior and the aggressive behavior of the child. Third, the direct impact of facilitative communication on social adjustment was mediated by the self-regulation variable. Based on these findings, this study proposes strategies for the improvement of children's adjustment during late childhood.

  • The purpose of this study is a proposal about the flexibility of the performance category to revitalize the "Housing Performance Grading Indication System". This system consists of 5 main performance parts, 14 performance categories and 20 detailed performance lists. 5 main performance parts are Noise and Acoustics(Light-weight impact sound control, heavy-weight impact sound control, sound control of toilet, sound control of party wall), Long-life(flexibility, remodeling & maintenance, durability), Landscape & Indoor Environment(landscape, formaldehyde control& ventilation, daylighting, thermal environment), Welfare & Barrier-free(playground and community center, welfare space, barrier-free design), Fire Safety(fire safety, safe place, fire-resisting quality). The flexibility of the performance category is conformed to Long-life housing related grading and can realize the Long-life housing in response to resident needs about the space rearrangement. Now, The flexibility of the performance category is limited to the evaluation of the private space, that is, the Skeleton evaluation. This study would suggest alternatives to improve uppermost limits through analyzing 60 examples from January 9th 2009 to October 30th 2008. The flexibility of the performance category is possible to estimate not only the Skeleton evaluation but also the Infill evaluation in response to social changes.

The purposes of this study were to understand the organizational phenomena of social welfare organizations, to offer practical implications for organizational management and to propose direction for the further researches. Special attention has been paid to identify 1) subjects of research 2) approach and criteria of organizational effectivess and 3) critical factors that impact on organizational effectiveness. The results showed that 1) most of researches utilized samples from social welfare community centers and assisted-living facility, 2) many researches focused on internal process approach and used diverse criteria of organizational effectiveness 3) collective developmental culture, decentralized structure, transformational leadership, open relationship between organization and external environment were critical factors of organizational effectiveness. The review suggests that social welfare managers should practice diverse approach based on vision, purpose and developmental stage of each organization. The managers also should implement more conscious efforts to make supportive and fair work environment where all employees feel valued and can demonstrate their maximum potential and to respond to task environments more proactively. Further research should be conducted from diverse organizations using various research methods. More comprehensive empirical model and multidimensional measure of organizational effectiveness need to be developed.
