College students living in university dormitory continuously experience unique physical and social living conditions, being away from their hometown and loving families. Most college students has engaged in a very limited social activities in dormitory area. Studies have shown that sense of community(SOC) is closely related to students' social activities. However, few research have examined the relationship between physical environment and sense of community. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the effects of physical environment of dormitory on students' perceived sense of community and their social interaction. Extensive literature review found that developing social interaction and building a sense of student community improve students' overall residential satisfaction with dormitory and personal academic growth. Survey on A university dormitory and Chi square analysis (${\chi}^2$) indicated that each group's individual characteristics such as gender, grade, living period, and personality were statistically significant on the level of SOC at the level of p=.01. Individual analysis of SOC showed that sense of belonging was higher than shared emotional connection, which means certain level of intervention is needed. Pearson correlation analysis validated that there exists statistically significant relationship between physical environment and SOC. Further it also found that the most important predictor in facilitating social interaction were comfortable, quiet, and enough social space around the dormitory.

Purpose: This study was to investigate the needs of health & community services among the disabled at home in rural areas. Methods: The subjects were 146 persons with disabilities living in J-gun. The questionnaire was based on the needs of 8 categorical services. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test. Results: Among the respondents, 27.4% visited the public health center in community for rehabilitation therapy. The average score of need was $2.62{\pm}.79$: education services $(2.92{\pm}1.05)$; medical services $(2.81{\pm}.82)$ nursing care services $(2.75{\pm}1.08)$; connection services $(2.62{\pm}1.20)$;, housing services $(2.60{\pm}1.09)$; emotional services $(2.41{\pm}1.03)$; other services $(2.24{\pm}1.06)$; and support of self-sustenance service $(1.92{\pm}1.15)$. The items in highest need were medical checkup (70.7%), medication (62.1%), traditional oriental therapy (60.4%) and physical therapy (58.9%), and those of lowest need were device repair (8.7%) and guidance of facility admission (7.1%). Needs were significantly different according to age (F=4.751. p=.001), employment status (t=2.108, p=.037) and medical fee payer (F=5.061, p=.002). Conclusion: The needs of education & medical services were relatively high. Demographic factors were statistically significant in determining needs. For the disabled at home in rural areas, more various services or programs should be executed based upon the needs and characteristics of based upon the needs and characteristics of the subjects.

Current technology does not emphasize closer connection through group collaboration, but rather underlines the distances and separations that are visible in today's society. As the interpretation of our territory of life which is still based on the model of the 'physical' of industrial era is no more valid, a different 'sense of belonging' corresponds to this new notion of territory. The main idea is how to make the sense of community to connect actual space with one child from each place. Therefore, the subject of this thesis is to design the system making children from distance to be closer, developing 'learning community' connecting with two classes across the globe. The contents include its studying in respect to the development of a non-geographical 'learning community' based on co-evolution, and to the system design of conceptual models for the community. In conclusion, the physical interface design is suggested to let user develop accurate mental models of the system.

It is needed to connect the curriculum of leisure use with community resources in order to allow students with developmental disability in a transition period to recover composure themselves through the curriculum of leisure use, improve their skills to enjoy, and apply their independent ability to utilize the actual leisure resources in a community through community programs. To realize this, it is necessary to secure recognition of leisure use from teachers instructing leisure use as a curriculum and examine points to be improved and importance mentioned about community-based leisure activity participation. The latest research on lifelong planning extends leisure activity from existing elements and implies the necessity of preparation in holistic aspects. As the crucial resources of leisure activity for students with developmental disability, this author focuses on the importance of leisure activities in schools and in communities and provides supportive measures to elevate accessibility to leisure activity.

This study aims to analyse the relationship between the sense of community and resident online participation. To solve a variety of social problems in localities, both resident participation and the sense of community have been getting more important. Online voting is a project that is being implemented by the city of Seoul to expand the participation of residents. We surveyed residents living in the apartment complex in Seoul that was participating in with the pilot program for online voting. The empirical analysis shows the sense of community was, indeed, positively related to resident online participation. In particular, shared emotional connection, a component of the sense of community, was the most important factor for the resident online participation.

The construction of settlement house in a permanent rental housing development area started between 1989 and 1992, planning of supplying two hundred fifty thousand residences, settlement house became compulsory as a welfare facilities. As a part of Welfare program for low income families, number of settlement housing increased dramatically, also domiciliary welfare center was beginning to set up as a branch of settlement housing to strengthen its service towards families and local communities, thus numerous social welfare organizations play a crucial part in resolving a welfare problem for low income families while satisfying local community's needs. However, despite of these efforts, the number if institutions cannot handle demand of local community's needs and number of welfare institution programs. as a solution, the alternation of space is being used, however, it did not solve basic problem, even worsen in terms of space efficiency.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the elderly consumer's consumer informationization education connected with the informationization education for the community by Chung-buk province. Three hundred seventy nine elders were surveyed, with questionnaires from August 12 to September 30, 2002, and a hypothetical model of the consumer informationization education on the basis of the informationization education for the suggestion of the elderly consumer's consumer informationization education was tested. The results were as follows: the perception and the attitude on the informationization education of the elderly were, with a statistical significance, positively related to the perception and the attitude on the consumer informationization education of the elderly. The consumer informationization education (basis, application, attendance, and mission) on the basis of the informationization education (basis and application) in steps was supported as a suggestion for the elderly consumer's consumer informationization education.

Korea's aging population is increasing rapidly every year. In addition, because of the increase in quantity of apartment complexes, the number of elderly living in apartment complexes is also rising steadily. Consequently, caring about the elderly residents is getting more important in apartment complexes. Currently the most common recreational facility for senior in the apartment complex is 'Kyungrodang'. However, 'Kyungrodang' has not been used as an active community area to elderly residents due to lack of leisure programs and other services. The purpose of this study was to give direction to support leisure life and healthy living for senior residents and to make 'Kyungrodang' usable community space for the residents of all generations. In connection with this, this study also identified to find ways to revitalizing for 'Kyungrodang'. The result of the study suggested the ideas than can improve the usably of 'Kyungrodang' not only to the elderly residents but also to all residents in terms of space planning and leisure programs.

The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of users'behavior for the planning of the shared community space(SCS). It was analyzed and estimated that the present status of the SCS of the contemporary multi-family housing sites in Korea and the residents'behavior in the SCS. Theoretic investigation and empirical research methods were used in this study. The empirical survey focused on seeking out user-oriented design criteria, based on the analysis of residents'usage behavior for the SCS. The analysis was made by both quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of this study are as follows; First, as to the usage status survey for the SCS, there is a difference in the degree of usage according to their locations. Second, as to the analysis of the SCS through a mental map, the sketch map analysis is found to be a useful research method for the SCS planning by actualizing the residents'behavior characteristics. In detail, the main characteristics in the SCS planning are nearness, centrality, intimacy, combination of facilities and the connection with the main paths of the complex.

This paper analyse a operating characteristics when the Community Energy System (CES) is operated islanding mode. In the near future, CES might be one of major energy supply structures. The basic concept of CES is that it supplies electrical and thermal energy to the local customer loads through the islanded power network separated from the grid. The CES must be supplying local load with stable energy on the islanding mode, analysing necessary to thoroughly the operation feature. In order to show them, in this paper, we model the CES with 2.34 MVA DG and simulate the operating feature on the islanding mode of CES. The simulation results show that, in order to stability operate, the CES need the efficient load management and generation control schemes during the transition periods.
