전력통신을 위한 시장 동향 및 발전 전망 (Trends Research and Development View of Power Line Communication)

  • While going through economic development for several decades, Korea has become an industrialized country, and the development of industrial technology accelerated the advent of the information opportunity era. The recent information oriented society has brought forth the development of new information communication technology that enables anybody to obtain information easily and simply, and recently power line communication technology is being developed that allows the use of the existing power line net-works as they are. Each advanced country that faced up to a riffle effect of power line communication technology that enables us to obtain information easily anywhere at anytime is engaged in fierce competition to be a leader in this technology and to preoccupy the standardization of power line communication technology. At this point, this study is to help Korea take the lead in information communication technology by proposing a direction for the standardization that Korean power line communication technology needs to head for by identifying the trend of the worldwide of power line communication technology.

  • Localized communication networks for office automation, security monitoring, environmental management of buildings, computer communications, and other applications enjoy every increasing demand. This paper proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum communication system for use in power line data transmission. Advantages of power distribution circuits include reasonably universal coverage and easy access vis a standard wall plug. Disadvantages include limited communication bandwidth, relatively high noise levels, and varying levels of impedance, noise, and attenuation. Spread spectrum signalling provides immunity to narrow-band signal impairments and multiplexing capability. Our prototype power line communication module supports completely physical and data link layers based on the international standard ISO 10368 for reliable high-speed power line communication system. Moreover it provides useful functions to compose a plant monitoring and control system. All the circuits of the communication module are included in one compact circuit. Thus a functional communication system for the power line plant monitoring and control is implemented.

  • It is made compulsory to install SPD for the purpose of protecting electric and electronic devices when an abnormal voltage such as lightning occurs to power line using power frequency of 60Hz. Recently, the high speed communication technology utilizing power line is receiving attention again as a communication technology for smart grid. The SPD influences the performances of power line communication when using SPD and power line communication system together. In order to improve the performance of power line communication, a proposed scheme for series connection of gas discharge tube to ZnO varistor was presented. This paper measured the impacts of series connection of GDT to SPD using ZnO varistor on the limit voltage of Class III SPD. This paper also presented the DC operating voltage of GDT which satisfies the limit voltage of power line communication system and SPD simultaneously.

  • Power line communication channels are very complicated and models for communication channels vary with the types of electrical equipment, devices and load fluctuations. So, modeling and analysis of power line channels for implementation of power line communication systems is a very important process. Power line channel modeling and simulation are performed based on power system transient simulation models and power system CAD tools to create precise and accurate models. In this paper, a channel modeling and simulation method is proposed for power line communication systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, in which a PN 63 sequence code generator is applied for impulse response of the power line channel in the simulation model.

  • Today many researches are accomplished for power line communication. But It is very dangerous to communicate with devices using power line. Because power line is an candidate to cope with the existing communication channels. So It is need to be measured the properties of power line as communication channels, before successful communication system is possible. In this paper, we re-analysis the characteristics of power line and suggest an implementation technique for the high-data-rate power line communication modem.

  • 현재 선박용 통신 네트워크의 구성은 RS-422, RS-485, CAN, EtherNet 기반의 물리계층으로 NMEA0183, NMEA2000, MiTS(Maritime information Technology Standards) 프로토콜을 지원하도록 설계하고 있다. 특히, 기존의 선박통신은 별도의 전용선을 설치해야하는 단점이 있다. 그러나, 기존의 통신방식과 달리 전력선 통신은 선박내부에서 사용하고 있는 AC220V /DC24V을 그대로 사용하는 장점이 있다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 이러한 물리계층을 지원하도록 선박내부의 전력선 통신망을 설계하여 NMEA0183 프로토콜을 지원하는 DC-전력선 통신(DC-PLC : DC-Power Line Communication) 기반의 브릿지를 설계하고자 한다.

  • Recently, a study on the Power Line Communication has been done by many companies and institutes due to its own merits that we can use the power line as a communication channel. But, there are serious problems about the harsh and unpredictable characteristics - noise, signal distortion and attenuation to be overcome in order that we commercialize the Power Line Communication. In this paper, we analyse the power line characteristics and apply the technology of PLC to control power of electric machinery by using ASK modulation.

An Indoor Broadcasting System Using Light-Emitting Diode Lamps Coupled with Power Line

  • We introduce an indoor broadcasting system using light-emitting diode (LED) lamps coupled with a 220 V power line. Two couplers connected to the power line constitute a power line communication (PLC) link. The transmission path from an LED lamp to a photodetector forms a visible light communication (VLC) link in free space. When the LED lamp is coupled to the power line, a composite PLC-VLC link is formed, making it possible to transmit a VLC signal beyond line-of-sight. In experiments, a 4 kHz analog signal modulated with a 100 kHz carrier was sent to the power line by a PLC coupler, and LED lamps coupled to the power line detected the signal and radiated it to multiple VLC receivers in the room. This configuration is useful in expanding an indoor VLC sensor network to adjacent rooms or constructing a voice broadcasting system in a building or apartments with existing power lines.

  • 전력선은 이미 전 세계적으로 60% 이상의 주거지에 설치되어 있기 때문에 고속의 전력선 통신을 이용하여 인터넷 액세스를 실현하는 새로운 액세스용 회선을 부설하지 않고 광대역 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 이러한 이유로 정보화 시대에 인터넷 망이 닿지 않는 Last Mile Solution에 가장 적합한 서비스로서 전력선 통신에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 하지만, 전력선은 통신 선로가 아니고 전력을 전송하도록 설계되었기 때문에 전자파의 누설로 부근의 무선통신 시스템에 영향을 주게 된다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 무선 통신 서비스와 전력선 통신과의 간섭을 줄이기 위하여 기존의 Notch Filter보다 성능 면에서 우수한 고성능 Notch Filter 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 또한, 고성능 Notch Filter를 적용하여 임베디드 보드를 통한 Notch Filter Emulator를 구현하였다.

  • This paper has studied a remote AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) system using the power line and the telephone line as a communication media and the digital power meter. In the developed system, because we have used the power line and telephone, the facility is very easy and then its cost is not expensive. The system includes following elements: a digital power meter, an indoor communication system using a power line modem and a telephone line interface system for sending data to the utility company.
