Objectives: This study aims to investigate the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms and factors related to daily activities in a representative Korean population. Methods: This study was based on the questions about musculoskeletal symptoms in the Korean General Social Survey 2010. The questionnaire about musculoskeletal symptoms was adopted from Korean Occupational Safety and Health Agency guide, and it includes general characteristics, characteristics of pain, work type, work intensity and a 12-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12). We utilized the criteria of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to define the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms. Demographic, behavioral and socioeconomic factors were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms was 38.3%. The prevalence was higher in females, the elderly, those without health insurance, and those with a low income, low education, and occupations with a heavy workload. The prevalence by body part was highest in the back, shoulder, and knee, in that order. The physical component summary and mental component summary of the SF-12 decreased with increasing musculoskeletal symptoms. Conclusions: Musculoskeletal symptoms are very common in the general population, and related to various socio-demographic factors. These results suggest that active prevention and management of musculoskeletal symptoms is needed at a national level.
The dried roots of Angelica decursiva and Peucedanum praeruptorum are registered as the official sources for the drug 'Junho' in Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia. In this study the essential oils were extracted from the roots of the two plants by steam distillation. Their compositions and the biological activities were compared. As the results of GC and GC-MS analysis, forty one and thirty five compounds were identified in the essential oils of Angelica decursiva and Peucedanum praeruptorum, respectively. Both of the two essential oils contained ${\alpha}$-pinene as the most abundant component. They showed similar significant antioxidant activities in DPPH scavenging assay, and reducing power test. Their dose dependent inhibitions of the nitrosamine formation were identified in experiment using BHA as control. In MTT test of three cancer cell lines, HeLa, MCF-7 and SK-Hep-1, the essential oil from A. decursiva showed stronger activities than that of P. praeruptorum and their common main component, ${\alpha}$-pinene.

There are unplugged computer science activities for elementary school students to learn the concept of the Internet. However, these activities are not enough to teach the concept of the Web because they focus on teaching how the Internet works. Since the Web is the core technology of the Third Industrial Revolution, it needs to be understood as a basic common sense. In this paper, we developed an unplugged activity to understand the PageRank algorithm which is closely related to the web. The experimental results show that our unplugged activities behave similarly to the PageRank algorithm.
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between physical impairments and daily activities on the basis of the outcome measurements in stroke patients. Seventy-six stroke patients participated in this study. Two physical therapists evaluated 3 clinical common measurements, i.e., the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Multiple regression analysis was used, as the dependent variables were the BBS and FIM; the independent variables were post-stroke duration, FMA of Upper Extremity (FMU), and FMA of Lower Extremity (FML). In the regression equation of the BBS, the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was .383, and the FML was found to be the most important variable for determining the BBS score. In the regression equation of the FIM, $R^2$ was .531, and the FML was found to be the most important variable for determining the FIM. These results suggest that there is a need to determine the function of activities on the basis of the physical impairments of stroke patients. More variable measurement tools on the levels of body function and structure, as well as activity limitations are required.

Fast delivery of construction projects provides more value to project owners. Batch production, which is production not in single pieces, but in batches, is a common approach in repetitive construction projects such as multi-unit residential building construction projects. In batch production, the use of a small batch size allows the early start of subsequent activities, and thus can lead to early completion of projects. In addition to batch size, balance between productivities in construction activities can affect project duration. However, the impact of the balance between productivities with regard to their order on project duration has not been studied. The main goal of this study is to test a hypothesis, which is that the order of construction activities' unbalanced productivities affects the amount of time reduction that can be achieved by using a small batch size. A computer-based simulation model was developed, and five different cases were simulated to test the hypothesis. The conclusion of the simulation result is that the order of productivities does not affect the time reduction achieved by using a small batch size. It is expected that the findings of this study can help general contractors make decisions in terms of batch size.

A common control model used to implement computer integrated manufacturing(CIM) is based on the hierarchical decomposition of the shop floor activities, in which supervisory controllers are responsible for all the interactions among subordinates. Although the hierarchical control philosophy provides for easy understanding of complex systems, an emerging manufacturing paradigm, agile manufacturing, requires a new control structure necessary to accommodate the rapid development of a shop floor controller. This is what is called autonomous agent-based heterarchical control. As computing resources and communication network on the shop floor become increasingly intelligent and powerful, the new control architecture is about to come true in a modern CIM system. In this paper, heterarchical control is adopted and investigated, in which a controller for a unit of device performs three main functions - planning, scheduling and execution. Attention is paid to the planning function and all the detailed planning activities for heterarchical shop floor control are identified. Interactions with other functions are also addressed. In general, planning determines tasks to be scheduled in the future. In other words, planning analyzes process plans and transforms process plans into detailed plans adequate for shop floor control. Planning is also responsible for updating a process plan and identifying/resolving replanning activities whether they come from scheduling or execution.

Background: Ipsilateral pelvic elevation has been reported as a common compensatory movement during side-lying hip abduction. It has been reported that pelvic elevation inhibits sufficient contraction of gluteus medius. However, few studies have identified the effects of controlled pelvic elevation on the trunk and hip muscles. Objective: To examine the effects of controlled pelvic elevation using visual biofeedback on the muscle activity of the trunk and hip muscles. Design: Crossover study. Methods: Twelve healthy males performed side-lying hip abduction exercises with and without visual biofeedback for pelvic elevation. Electromyography (EMG) activities of the gluteus medius, quadratus lumborum, and multifidus were analyzed using a wireless EMG system while the ipsilateral pelvic elevation angle was measured using a motion sensor during side-lying hip abduction exercises. Results: EMG activities of the gluteus medius (p = .002), quadratus lumborum (p = .022), and multifidus (p = .020) were significantly increased and ipsilateral pelvic elevation was significantly decreased (p = .001) during side-lying hip abduction with visual biofeedback compared to without visual biofeedback. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the application of biofeedback for pelvic motion could improve the trunk and hip muscle activation pattern and decrease compensatory pelvic motion during side-lying hip abduction exercise.
Agricultural environmental policies to reduce negative externalities and expand positive externalities became common around the world. However, literature regarding the efficient and effective implementation of agricultural environmental policies, such as optional direct payment, is limited. This study, thus, analyzes the relative importance for target selecting-criteria in order to enhance the cost-effectiveness of the Agricultural Environment Conservation Program in Korea. In this context, we conducted survey to 15 experts who are related in agricultural environment policies and analyzed survey results based on ANP method which can consider correlation between selecting criteria. The results show that, in the case field, "soil", "water", and "ecology" field have relative high importance than the other fields. Also, the relative importance for 'improving rural landscape', 'giving nutrient input moderately', and 'conserving agricultural heritage' activities is higher than the other activities. Furthermore, the relative importance among fields and activities of ANP is different from those of AHP. This result implies that it is necessary to consider the correlation between selecting criteria in order to design effectively. Finally, we suggest that in order to enhance the effectiveness of the program, it would be appropriate to assign differential points according to the importance of each activity when identifying appropriate farms.
Quarrying of rock for construction purposes is a significant industry in any economy but has its negative impact. This study examined the impact of quarry activities on surrounding vegetation in Ogun State. Geographic Information System approach was used to map the various quarry locations present in different Local Government Areas in Ogun State; of which eight sites were selected namely Isara, Idode, Iwaye, Ogbere, Ilagbe, Adelokun Baaki Ake and Igodo. Vegetation composition analyses were carried out on the eight sites using Haga Ultimeter and chlorophyll content analysis. Data were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics using SAS package (9.4 version). Sixty quarries were identified with Odeda Local Government Area (38.3%) having the highest percentage of quarry. The vegetative compositions analyses showed that Albizia zygia had the highest frequency (7) among identified plants in the quarries. The chlorophyll content of Albizia zygia in the wet season (492.2 mg Chl/m2) was significantly higher than dry season (464.4 mg Chl/m2) in all locations. However, Baaki Ake (Albizia zygia) chlorophyll content was highest among other locations in both seasons. In conclusion Albizia zygia showed highest resistance to quarry activities, hence common among other plants identified around the quarries.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of economic agents, such as the amount of government expenditure on the environment, households, manufacturing industry, and shipping activities; on environmental degradation in Indonesia. Research design, data, and methodology: This study is conducted with 264 observations from panel data of 33 provinces during 2010-2017. Environmental degradation is measured by using the environmental quality index collected from Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics. Three testing models are used to test the panel data, namely Common Effect Model (CEM), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM). Results: The research findings show that the amount of government expenditure on the environment, households, and shipping activities have a negative and significant effects on environmental degradation, while the number of manufacturing industry has positive and significant effect on environmental degradation. Unlike the previous studies, the result also shows that government expenditure on environmental has a positive and significant effect on environmental quality index. Conclusion: It can be concluded that even though Indonesian government spent a low budget on environment, their environmental regulation has succeeded both in reducing environmental degradation and increasing the environmental quality as indicated by Indonesian environmental quality index.
