Preparation of Pt Catalysts Supported on ACF with CNF via Catalytic Growth

  • Carbon supported electrocatalysts are commonly used as electrode materials for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs). These kinds of electrocatalysts provide large surface area and sufficient electrical conductivity. The support of typical PEM fuel cell catalysts has been a traditional conductive type of carbon black. However, even though the carbon particles conduct electrons, there is still significant portion of Pt that is isolated from the external circuit and the PEM, resulting in a low Pt utilization. Herein, new types of carbon materials to effectively utilize the Pt catalyst are being evaluated. Carbon nanofiber/activated carbon fiber (CNF/ACF) composite with multifunctional surfaces were prepared through catalytic growth of CNFs on ACFs. Nickel nitrate was used as a precursor of the catalyst to synthesize carbon nanofibers(CNFs). CNFs were synthesized by pyrolysising $CH_4$ using catalysts dispersed in acetone and ACF(activated carbon fiber). The as-prepared samples were characterized with transmission electron microscopy(TEM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM). In TEM image, carbon nanofibers were synthesized on the ACF to form a three-dimensional network. Pt/CNF/ACF was employed as a catalyst for PEMFC. As the ratio of prepared catalyst to commercial catalyst was changed from 0 to 50%, the performance of the mixture of 30 wt% of Pt/CNF/ACF and 70wt% of Pt/C commercial catalyst showed better perfromance than that of 100% commercial catalyst. The unique structure of CNF can supply the significant site for the stabilization of Pt particles. CNF/ACF is expected to be promising support to improve the performance in PEMFC.

  • 이 연구는 양이온 불균질막을 제조하기 위해 PVdF와 상용 양이온교환수지를 배합하여 제조하고 최적의 조건제시 및 기존 상용화막과 비교 평가하였다. 연구결과 불균질막이 기존의 상용화막보다 이온교환용량, 전기저항, 함수율 부분에서 높은 물성을 나타내기 위해서는 이온교환수지의 무게 비율을 40% 이상 첨가해야 한다는 것을 확인하였다. 인장강도가 상용화막보다 높기 위해서는 이온교환수지의 무게 비율을 50% 이하로 첨가해야 한다는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 화학적 특성과 기계적 특성을 고려했을 때, PVdF와 이온교환분말의 최적 비율은 60 : 40이며, 이때의 전기저항 $1.82{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^{-1}$, 함수율 79%, 이온교환용량 1.60 meq/g으로 측정되었고 기계적 강도는 0.97 MPa로 측정되었다. 이때, TDS 제거율은 약 40%로 측정되었다.

  • 폴리에테르설폰(PES)과 폴리페닐렌설파이드설폰(PPSS)을 블렌딩한 고분자를 이용하여 음이온교환막을 제작하였다. EDXS와 FT-IR 분석으로부터 제작한 음이온교환막이 음이온교환기인 -N-을 갖는다는 것을 확인하였다. 1 mol/L의 황산용액에서 이온전도도를 측정하였다. 제작한 음이온교환막은 0.015~0.083 S/cm의 이온전도도를 가졌으며, 시판의 음이온교환막인 AFN과 APS의 값과 비교하여 동등 이상의 값을 가졌다. 제작한 음이온교환막의 바나듐 레독스 흐름 전지용 격막으로 사용한지를 평가하기 위해 각 바나듐 이온의 투과를 측정하였다. 제작한 음이온교환막의 각 바나듐 이온의 투과도는 시판의 양이온교환막인 Nafion 117과 시판의 음이온교환막인 AFN과 비교하여 낮은 값을 가졌다.

조미 연어 분말 식품의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characterization of Seasoned Salmon Powder)

  • 연어를 이용한 신제품 개발에 관한 일련의 연구로 연어를 이용한 조미 분말 제품의 개발을 시도하였고, 아울러 시제품의 품질 특성에 대하여도 살펴보았다. 시제 조미 연어 분말은 일반성분의 경우 수분 함량이 42.1%, 단백질 함량이 30.3%, 지질 함량이 18.9%, 회분 함량이 6.2%이었고, 헌터 색조의 경우 백색도가 68.14, 적색도가 7.86, 황색도가 19.13, 그리고 색차가 35.12이었다. TCA 가용성 질소 함량은 시제 조미 연어 분말이 360 mg/100 g으로 시판 조미 연어 분말의 234 mg/100 g에 비하여 54%가 높았다. 또한, total taste value는 시제 조미 연어 분말이 시제 조미 연어 분말에 비하여 2.2배가 높았고, 이들의 주성분은 glutamic acid(각각 90.640 및 39.840)이었다. 주요 구성 지방산은 조미 연어 분말의 종류에 관계없이 두 제품이 모두 16:0, 18:1n-9, 18:2n-6 및 22:6n-3 등이었다. 아미노산 총 함량은 시제 조미 연어 분말이 29.05 g/100 g으로 시판 조미 연어 분말의 20.79 g/100 g에 비하여 높았고, 두 제품의 주요 구성 아미노산은 aspartic acid, glutamic acid, leucine 및 lysine 등이었다. 시제 조미 연어 분말을 섭취하는 경우 철의 보강 효과는 약간 기대되었으나 칼슘의 보강 효과는 기대하기 어려우리라 판단되었고, 시제품이 시판품에 비하여 맛, 색조 및 냄새와 같은 모든 항목에서 우수하였다.

한국 전통간장 및 메주 제조공정에 관한 조사 연구 (Survey on the Manufacturing Process of Traditional Meju for and of Kanjang(Korean Soy Sauce))

  • Meju is a basis for manufacturing Kanjang, Meju was traditionally prepared at home by different types of process depending on the regional area. It is necessary to standardize and simplify the process of Meju-preparation for Kanjang of good quality. For these purposes, the process of Meju and Kangjang making as well as analysis of commercial Kanjang, were compared. Generally, traditional Meju was prepared by steeping and dehulling the whole soybean. After steeping for 24hr. soybean absorbed water up to 110~120% of its weight. The soaked soybeans were steamed for 2hr. and cooled to 5$0^{\circ}C$. Cooked soybeans were crushed down to the size of 10~15 mesh and molded. Molded soybeans were dried for 2 days in the air, hung up by rice straw and fermented for 20~30 days under natural environmental condition. On the other hand, commercial soybean koji was made of defatted soybean. Defatted soybeans were steeped in water and steamed for 15~30min at 0.7~1.2 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Steamed and defatted soybean was cooled to 4$0^{\circ}C$. Separately, wheat power was roasted at 200~30$0^{\circ}C$ by wheat roaster. Mixture of steamed defatted soybean and roasted wheat powder (5/5 to 7/3) were inoculated with 0.1~0.2% Aspergillus sojae and incubated for 2 days at 3$0^{\circ}C$ with occasional stirring. Chemical analysis showed that traditional soy sauces contained the following composition: NaCl, 20.12~25.42%; total nitrogen, 0.64~0.91%; pure extract, 9.47~11.20%; color, 2.34~4.01; pH, 4.92~5.12. Commercial products contained: NaCl, 15.20~17.19%; total nitrogen, 1.25~1.40%; pure extract, 18.17~21.47%; color, 5.41~21.12; pH, 4.51~4.66 and ethalnol. 2.97~3.12%. Organoleptic test on taste, color and flavor of traditional and commercial soysauce indicated that most of the consumers prefer commercial products to traditional products. Preferrable formulation of Kanjang based on organoleptic test of soy sauces was assumed as containing; NaCl, 16.0%; total nitrogen, 1.40%; pure extract, 19.97%; color, 12.98; pH, 4.61 and ethanol, 2.96.

Occurrence of Tomato spotted wilt virus in Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) in Korea

  • Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) has been identified in commercial chrysanthemum cultivars in Korea. Nucleotide sequences of the N gene of TSWV-ch14 isolated from infected chrysanthemum were determined and deposited in GenBank under accession no. DQ453158. The symptoms consisted of dark colored leaf necrosis, black streaks along the stem, wilting of plant parts in 'Sinma'; and chlorotic spots, necrosis of axillary shoots and withering of leaves in 'Hwarang'. Electron micrographs of leaf preparation of Nicotiana rustica infected with TSWV-ch14 contained spherical particles around 85 nm in diameter. TSWV was identified from chrysanthemum by sequence determination of N nucleocapsid protein and virion observation by transmission electron microscope. This is the first reported observation on TSWV in chrysanthemum in Korea.

다꾸치법에 의한 무섬유 세라믹 브레이크 마찰재의 제조변수에 대한 고찰 (Investigation of Manufacturing Parameters for Non-fibrous Ceramic Brake Pads using Taguchi Method)

  • In the present study, ceramic brake pads without fiber phases were manufactured by the low temperature heat treatment below$ 700 ^{\circ}C$. The manufacturing parameters of ceramic brake pads and those levels were investigated by the analysis results of signal-to-noise ratios, ANOVA based upon the Taguchi method. The ceramic brake pads prepared in the Mg experiment had a friction coefficient of 0.30~0.55 very close to the target coefficient (0.35~0.45) of commercial brake pads utilized in the automobiles. The frictional properties of ceramic brake pads could be stabilized with the adjustment of amounts of lubricating additives. The optimum preparation conditions as well as batch formulations for the fabrication of non-fibrous ceramic brake pads were finally determined using Taguchi method in this study.

  • Activated carbons (ACs) are widely used in adsorption for the removal of gaseous and aqueous pollutants[1]. Although a wide range of carbonaceous materials can be converted into ACs, the coal and lingocellulosic materials are the most commonly used starting materials for the production of commercial ACs. Recently, there are a quite large number of studies regarding the preparation of ACs from various polymeric materials because of high carbon yield and low ash content In this work, ACs are prepared from polystyrene (PS) by chemical activation with potassium hydroxide and the effect of the KOH-to-PS ratio to adsorption of ammonia is investigated. Preparation and Impurity Control of the BaTiO3 Coatings by Micro Arc Oxidation Method

  • $BaTiO_3$ coatings were prepared by micro arc oxidation (MAO) method. Only $Ba(OH)_2$ was dissolved in the electrolyte and process time was less than 30 min. Commercial purity $Ba(OH)_2$ (97%) containing $BaCO_3$ as impurity was used in preparing the electrolyte. XRD showed that the coating was composed of largely $BaTiO_3$, and in some process conditions, small quantity of impurity, $BaCO_3$, was characterized in the coating layer. The quantity of $BaCO_3$ could be controlled to negligible quantity by regulating the applied voltage and duration time of the MAO process.

초미세 크기의 과염소산암모늄 결정체 제조 (Preparation of Ultra Fine Ammonium Perchlorate Crystals)

  • 과염소산암모늄(AP)의 N-메틸피롤리돈(NMP) 용액으로부터 초미세 크기를 갖는 과염소산암모늄(UFAP) 결정의 결정화 연구를 수행하였고, 침전된 결정들의 특성들을 scanning electron micrograph(SEM)와 X-ray diffraction(XRD) 그리고 thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)를 사용하여 분석하였다. 침전용매로 클로로포름, 염화메틸렌 그리고 톨루엔이 사용되었을 경우, 2$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 크기를 갖는 결정들이 제조되었다. 제조된 UFAP의 결정학적 특성과 열분해 거동은 상용으로 사용되는 AP와 거의 유사하였다.
