6.6 kW On-Vehicle Charger with a Hybrid Si IGBTs and SiC SBDs Based Booster Power Module

  • In this paper, a hybrid booster power module with Si IGBT and Silicon Carbide (SiC) Schottky Barrier Diode (SBDs) is presented. The switching characteristics of the hybrid booster module are compared with commercial Silicon IGBT/Si PIN diode based modules. We applied the booster power module into a non-isolated on board vehicle charger with a simple buck-booster topology. The performances of the on-vehicle charger are analyzed and measured with different power modules. The test data is measured in the same system, at the same points of operation, using the conventional Si and hybrid Si/SiC power modules. The measured power conversion efficiency of the proposed on-vehicle charger is 96.4 % with the SiC SBD based hybrid booster module. The conversion efficiency gain of 1.4 % is realizable by replacing the Si-based booster module with the Si IGBT/SiC SBD hybrid boost module in the 6.6 kW on-vehicle chargers.

  • It is the common features of the integral reactors that the main components of the RCS are installed within the reactor vessel, and so there are no any flow pipes connecting the coolant pumps or steam generators. Due to no any flow pipes, it is impossible to measure the differential pressure at the RCS of the integral reactors, and it also makes impossible measure the flow-rate of the reactor coolant. As a alternative method, the method by the measurement of coolant pump power has been introduced in this study. Up to now, we did not found out a precedent which the coolant pump power is used for the real-time flow-rate calculation at normal operation of the commercial nuclear power plants. The objective of the study is to embody the real-time flow-rate calculation method by the measurement of coolant pump power in an integral reactor. As a result of the study, we could theoretically reason that the capacity-head curve and capacity-shaft power curve around the rated capacity with the high specific-speeded axial flow pumps have each diagonally steep incline but show the similar shape. Also, we could confirm the above theoretical reasoning from the measured result of the pump motor inputs, So, it has been concluded that it is possible to calculate the real-time flow-rate by the measurement of pump motor inputs. In addition, the compensation for a above new method can be made by HBM being now used in the commercial nuclear power plants.

1870-1914년 영국의 초국적 기업 발전을 저해한 요인 분석: 연결망(네트워크) 이론의 개념적 적용 (A Conceptual Study of the underdevelopment of the British Multinational Corporations, 1870-1914: from the perspective of the network theory)

  • 이 글에서 다루고자 하는 주요 퍼즐은 '왜 영국은 19세기 말 ~ 20세기 초 기간 동안 다른 국가와 달리 초국적기업이 출현하는 일반 구조를 발전시키지 못했는가?'이다. 이에 대해 필자는 비록 완전한 대답은 아니지만 근본적으로 영국 사회의 속성을 보여주는 '사회적 구성(Social construction)'의 맥락에서 그 원인을 규명하고자 한다. 이러한 목적 하에 이 글은 사건을 둘러싼 행위자들의 이해관계와 (사건에 대한)통제력이 빚어내는 사건의 가치 상승효과를 고려한다. 이 글의 결론은 다음과 같다: 첫째, 영국 사회 내에 팽배해 있었던 산업자본주의에 대한 경멸과 대기업 및 초국적 기업 육성의 필요성에 대한 영국 정부의 불식, 그리고 신사적 지배층의 확산과 더불어 수반된 시티의 상업-금융 자본가들의 영향력 확대 등도 영국 기업의 초국적화를 가로막았다. 둘째, 영국의 정치적 지배구조와 경제구조의 토대는 지속과 변화를 동시에 보여주었다. 1850년 이래 영국 사회구조는 점진적으로 시티의 상업-금융 자본가들의 영향력이 강화되는 구도로 형상화되었다. 그리고 그 결과는 제조업체의 초국적화가 아닌 금융서비스업의 초국적화였다. 셋째, 영국 엘리트 집단들이 주도한 사회연결망의 형상은 단절과 연계로 구분되는 행위자들의 이해관계와 통제력을 통해 구성된다. 서로의 이익이 상호보완적이었던 것과 달리 통제력의 차원에서 초기에는 지주계급과 상업-금융 자본가들의 자발적 동기에 기반 한 의도된 연계가 형성되었으나 결국 통제력의 소유는 산업자본가들을 배제한 채 상업-금융자본가들에게로 이전되어 사회연결망의 재구축이 이루어졌다.

  • The wind power is known as the most promising future energy source to obtain the electricity. Induction generator is a simple energy conversion wit in the wind power generation system but it consumes the reactive power from the interconnected power system. Switched capacitor banks are normally used to compensate the reactive power, which bring about the transient overvoltage. This paper proposes a method for compensating the reactive power with STATCOM. A detail simulation model for analyzing the interaction between the wind power system and the commercial power system was developed using EMTDC software. The developed simulation model can be effectively utilized to plan the reactive power compensation for newly designed wind power system.

  • The power flow analysis of electrified railway is required complicated calculation, because of variable load. Train runs trough rail supplied by electric power therefore, the load value in electrified railway system fluctuates along time. The power flow algorithm in electrified railway system is different from general power system, and the power flow simulation is peformed by the particular simulation software. Powerail is simulation software for analysis of traction power supply system developed by KRRI, in 2008. This consists of load forecasting module, including TPS and time scheduling, and power flow module. This software was verified by measured current under normal feeding condition, however, has not been verified by voltage on the condition of extended feeding. This paper presents the verification of PowerRail based on voltage drop under extended feeding condition. This is performed by comparing simulation result with field test. Field test and simulation is done in commercial railway line.

  • Purpose of the 765kV trial operation conducted for the first time in our country are performance verification of domestic developed equipment(765kV M.Tr, GIS,etc) and extraction of problem in advance to commercial operation and cultivation of operation ability. The trial operation of 765kV substation was finished successfully under the positive supports of institutes. manufactures. and constructers. It is expected that extraction of problems in advance and accumulation of operation techniques through the trial operation of 765kV substation will be contributed largly to the realization of the without a hitch operation of 765kV system.

  • The policy trends of use and the development of nuclear power in the United States, France, United Kingdom. Germany, Russia, China, Japan and Korea are briefly investigated. Nuclear power technology has been developed as the national policy in the nuclear-advanced countries. 50 years has passed since the declaration of "Atoms for Peace" by USA President Eisenhour in December 1953. Recently, it appears to revitalize the nuclear power program in world major countries in order to recover the shortage of electric power and to curb the excess emission of carbon dioxide as well as to secure competitiveness in electricity markets. Advanced countries are making new initiatives for the development of the fourth generation nuclear power system. Furthermore, wide-ranged use and development of nuclear power technologies are expected in district heating in commercial sectors, power in the space exploration, and propulsion power of large tankers and spaceships. High temperature gas cooled nuclear power reactor will be applied for mass production of hydrogen energy in the future.

  • The variations of real time electric power price in competitive electricity markets have influence on electric power demands of the consumers. The effects of the consumers for electric power price can be expressed the price elasticity coefficient of the power demand as a measurement. Residential, commercial, and industrial consumers with different characteristics cause the different price elasticity of the power demand due to changing the pattern of consumption. It is necessary that the effects of electric power demands as a function of elasticity coefficient for each loads should be analyzed in Korea which is processing deregulated electric market. Therefore, this paper calculate the elasticity coefficient of each loads and analysis the effects of electric power demands as a function of elasticity coefficient of inflexible and flexible consumers in competitive electricity market.

  • In this paper, a 0.5W, 2GHz high-efficiency class A power amplifier using the dynamic bias control is proposed. First of all, the drain bias control amplifier is analyzed theoretically and designed with commercial devices. Simulation results show that the proposed amplifier has a significant improved efficiency, compared to fixed bias power amplifier.
