The importance of designing urban building complexes so that they obtain 'urban' power, rather than become isolated from the surrounding urban context, has been well recognized by both researchers and practitioners. Nevertheless, most current discussions are made from architects' personal experiences and intuition, and lack a quantitative understanding, to which obstacles include an in-depth exploration of the 'urban' power between building complexes and the urban environment. This paper attempts to measure this feature of 'urban', i.e., 'urbanity,' through a new analytical approach derived from the opendata environment. Three measurements that can be easily collected though the Google Maps API and Open Street Map are applied herein to evaluate high or low values of urbanity. Specifically, these are 'metric depth', i.e., the scale of extended public space, 'development density', i.e., density and distribution of point of interests (POIs), and 'type diversity', i.e., diversity of different commercial types. Six cases located in Japan, China and Hong Kong respectively are ranked based on this analytical approach and compared with each other. It shows that Japanese cases, i.e., Osaka Station City and Namba Parks, Osaka, obtained clearly higher values than cases in Shanghai and Hong Kong. On one hand, the insight generated from measuring and explaining 'urban' power would help to assist better implementation of this feature in the design of urban building complexes. On the other hand, this analytical approach can be easily extended to achieve a large-scale measurement and comparison among different urban building complexes, which is also helpful for design practitioners.
A station is not only the public space where socially diverse classes get together and cultural interchanges occur but also the personal and emotional space where the meeting and parting occur for each individual. Thus, it is necessity to consider this dual point from the beginning of the plan to make the simple, comfortable, intuitive and friendly environment for the users in the station. Also, it should be capable of active life style of moderner according to the change of the city environment. Furthermore, as a station is not just a single-purpose space anymore but the versatile space where fulfills the user's needs for the multi-function and the desire for diversity. As the station in these days opened 24 hours for users with the modern, commercial and cultural facilities, the interior design for a station needs to be designed to be easy to use, functional and able to vitalize the environment. In order to make a desirable interior environment in a station, first of all, it is required to grasp the characteristic of the space by analyzing the phenomena of an individual or a group act in a existing space formed by the interrelation between the human and the environment. To reduce the resistance against the new environment from the user, in other words, to increase the satisfaction, it is necessity to induce the behavior of the users to the desirable way toward to the new environment. Consequently, positive methodology with recognitive approach through cognitive psychology, spatial behavior research is required.
Ham-ra is a village that belongs to Ham-yuel Ri, Ik-san city and also known as the village where 4 millionaire modem age rich farmer households are residing in the center of the village. Originally, central point of the village was Gaeksa and Hyanggyo that is in Suodong, but early 1900s, rich farmers found new Places beside Suodong and built large-scale houses and around it, houses of tenant and commercial places were formed and became the new center of the village. Therefore, Ham-ra village shows well about the changes of the traditional village in the end of Chosun Dynasty aspect that of existent village space according to rich farmer's growth. Especially, the large scaled Korean traditional houses which were built newly in the year between 1917 to 1939 shows main road and Natural stream surrounding the village which are not found in any other village. 3 rich farmers (Lee Bae-won, Jo Hae-young, Kim An-gyun house) and Lee Jib-cheon's houses built a large scaled Sarang-chae and An-chae to compete and to show off there wealth. This residing imitated High-classe house yet accommodated social changes and through a voluntary experiment, is expressing modernity of Han-ok very well. Similarity and creativity in residing form appears well in buildings similar time and village. This research analyzed space composition change of the village and characteristic of Architecture who appear at modern process of typical farmer houses which make a strong resolution to Ham-ra hereupon.
Silicone structural glazing (SSG) is a method utilizing a silicone adhesive to attach glass, metal, or other panel material to the structure of a building. Windload and other impact loads on the facade are transferred from the glass or panel through the silicone structural sealant to the systems' framework. Silicone structural glazing systems are currently a very common method of glazing throughout the world. Locally, structural silicone glazing has become very common to achieve aesthetically pleasing and high utilization of small land for both residential and commercial building. Although structural silicone glazing has been utilized for approximately thirty years in Korea, the understanding of its technology was low and limited. Consequently, Korean projects experienced many quality issues during assembly and construction, even in very recently finished buildings. Adhesion loss and water infiltration occurred on more than one project, and the time and cost to repair these issues were substantial. In general, there are two kinds of structural silicones depending on fabrication methods. 1part structural silicone is for site glazing system and 2part structural silicone is for unitized factory glazing system. In this paper, 2part structural silicone which is very common for factory fabricating curtainwall systems was evaluated with regards to various mixing ratio. Since the structural performance of 2part sealant can be affected by mixing ratios, some extra ranges of recommended mixing ratio were evaluated to see any performance differences. Besides on cure profile, comparative evaluations for mechanical properties and adhesion develop on common building substrates were conducted.

After recycle of spent materials has been optimised, there remains a proportion of waste which must be dealt with in the most environmentally friendly manner available. For materials such as municipal waste, clinical waste, toxic waste and special wastes such as tyres, incineration is often the most appropriate technology. The study of incineration must take a process system approach covering the following aspects: ${\bullet}$ Collection and blending of waste, ${\bullet}$ The two stage combustion process, ${\bullet}$ Quenching, scrubbing and polishing of the flue gases, ${\bullet}$ Dispersion of the flue gases and disposal of any solid or liquid effluent. The design of furnaces for the burning of a bed of material is being hampered by lack of an accurate mathematical model of the process and some semi-empirical correlations have to be used at present. The prediction of the incinerator gas phase flow is in a more advanced stage of development using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, although further validation data is still required. Unfortunately, it is not possible to scale down many aspects of waste incineration and tests on full scale incinerators are essencial. Thanks to a close relationship between SUWIC and Sheffield Heat&Power Ltd., an extended research programme has been carried out ar the Bernard Road Incinerator plant in Sheffield. This plant consists of two Municipal(35 MW) and two Clinical (5MW) Waste Incinerators which provide district heating for a large part of city. The heat is distributed as hot water to commercial, domestic ( >5000 dwelling) and industrial buildings through 30km of 14" pipes plus a smaller pipe distribution system. To improve the economics, a 6 MW generator is now being added to the system.
The cooling load in winter season is significant in many commercial buildings and hotels because of the usage of office equipments and the high efficiency of wall insulation. Therefore, the development of a multi-heat pump which can cover heating and cooling simultaneously for each indoor unit is required. In this study, the characteristics and performance of a simultaneous heating and cooling heat pump in the cooling-only and cooling-main operating mode was investigated experimentally with a variation of indoor air dry bulb temperature which is from $21^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$. EEV opening was adjusted from 20% to 24% during the tests. When the indoor air temperature varied, the performance in the cooling-only mode was more sensitive to the temperature than in the cooling-main mode. The total capacity and COP were increased by 53.8% and 48.1%, respectively, in the cooling-main, while those were increased by 19.6% and 19.3% in the cooling-only mode. The performance differences between the two operating modes became larger at lower temperatures, especially for the COP.
The cooling load in winter is significant in many commercial buildings and hotels because of the usage of office equipments and the high efficiency of wall insulation. The development of a multi-heat pump that can cover heating and cooling simultaneously for each indoor unit is required. In this study, the performance of a multi-heat pump with 3-piping system was investigated as a function of refrigerant charge and its performance was analyzed in cooling mode, heating mode, and heat recovery mode. COP in the heating or cooling mode showed little dependence on refrigerant charge at overcharge conditions, while those were strongly dependent on refrigerant charge at undercharge conditions and outdoor inlet temperature. In the heat recovery mode, the performance of the system was very sensitive to charge amount at all conditions. Optimum charge amount in the heat recovery mode was 14% lower than that in the cooling mode at the standard condition because the refrigerant only passed the indoor units. It is required to store the excessive refrigerant charge in a storage tank to optimize the system performance at operating modes.
