Effects of Metal-Organic Framework Membrane on Hydrogen Selectivity

  • Hydrogen gas has attracted considerable attention as a promising candidate for future energy resources because of its eco-friendly characteristics; however, its highly combustible characteristics should be thoroughly examined to preclude potential disasters. In this regard, a highly sensitive method for the selective detection of H2 is extremely important. To achieve excellent H2 selectivity, the utilization of a metal-organic framework (MOF) membrane can physically screen interfering gas molecules by restricting the size of kinetic diameters that can penetrate its nanopores. This paper summarizes the various endeavors of researchers to utilize the MOF molecular sieving layer for the development of highly selective H2 sensors. Further, the review affords useful insights into the development of highly reliable H2 sensors.

가연성 연소 가스의 데토네이션에 의한 얇은 관 변형 모델링 (Numerical Investigation of Deformation of Thin-walled Tube Under Detonation of Combustible Gas Mixture)

  • 본 논문에서는 다물질(가연성 기체 혼합물과 금속관) 수치 해석 기법을 활용하여 밀리미터 크기의 얇은 두께의 금속관 내에서의 데토네이션을 모델링하였다. 데토네이션의 해석을 위하여 수소와 에틸렌 혼합물의 실험과 이론적 값을 기반으로 최적화된 1단계 아레니우스 형태의 화학 반응식, 이상기체 상태 방정식을 활용하여 모델링하였다. 또한 금속관의 재료인 구리와 철은 Mie-Gruneisen 상태 방정식과 Johnson-Cook 강성 모델을 활용하여 큰 압력에 의한 관의 소성 변형을 모델링하였다. 다물질 수치 해석을 위한 경계면의 추적 및 경계면 값의 결정은 각각 hybrid particle level-set 기법과 ghost fluid method(GFM)을 통하여 획득하였다. 수치적 해석 결과는 실험값과의 비교를 통하여 검증 하였으며, 관두께(두꺼운 관과 얇은 관)에 따른 내부 유동장의 변화를 확인하였다. 얇은 관의 경우, 데토네이션에 의해 발생하는 높은 내부 압력에 의하여 관의 소성 변형이 일어나고, 이에 따라 발생하는 팽창파에 의해 내부 기체 혼합물의 압력 및 밀도의 감소현상을 확인하였다.

  • 비표면적이 큰 ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$와 귀금속 촉매를 이용하여 접촉연소식 가스감지소자를 제조하였다. DT/TGA와 XRD 실험을 통해 ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 제조의 최적 조건을 구하였으며, 제조된 ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$$215.5m^{2}/g$의 큰 비표면적을 나타내었다. Pt 코일을 발열체 및 온도감지소자, 미세 ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 분말을 담체 모물질, Pd 및 Pt 귀금속을 촉매제로 이용하여 가스센서를 제조하고 가연성 가스에 대한 감도특성을 조사하였다. 실험결과들로부터 본 연구에서 제조된 센서는 1000ppm의 LPG 및 LNG에 대해 각각 20mV와 6.5mV로 놀은 감도 특성을 나타내었다.

  • The use of metals such as aluminum and titanium and the related industrial facilities have been continuously increasing to meet the requirements of the improvement of high-tech products due to the development of industry, and explosion of metal dust. Semiconductor process Metal dust is essential, but research is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to identify risk by analyzing the quantitative risk such as maximum explosion pressure and minimum explosion concentration applied international test standard in order to select the semiconductor process facilities handling dust and to predict possible risk of accidents.

  • A dual micro gas sensor array was fabricated using nano sized $SnO_2$ thin films which had good sensitivities to CO and combustible gases, or $H_2S$ gas for air quality sensors in automobile. The already existed air quality sensor detects oxidizing gases and reducing gases, the air quality sensor(AQS), located near the fresh air inlet detected the harmful gases, the fresh air inlet door/ventilation flap was closed to reduce the amount of pollution entering the vehicle cabin through HVAC(heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) system. In this study, to make $SnO_2$ thin film AQS sensor, thin tin metal layer between 1000 and $2000{\AA}$ thick was oxidized between 600 and $800^{\circ}C$ by thermal oxidation. The gas sensing layers such as $SnO_2$, $SnO_2$(pt) and $SnO_2$(+CuO) were patterned by metal shadow mask for simple fabrication process on the silicon substrate. The micro gas sensors with $SnO_2$(+Pt) and $SnO_2$(CuO) showed good selectivity to CO gas among reducing gases and good sensitivity to $H_2S$ that is main component of bad odor, separately.

  • We propose driving method of Ultraviolet sensor for fire alarms using pulse width modulation that used to fire detector with sensor of private-use detectable light energy as ultraviolet in energy of electromagnetic-wave type radiate from flame, when combustible burn with contain carbon,. Ultraviolet sensor is UV Tron using gas multiplication effect to current discharge and photoelectric effect of metal. To have high sensibility and to gain proper output voltage, it has high responsive performance. This research designed driving circuit with UV sensors and proposed method of false alarm reduced to resemble fire. the result propers the prevention and extinction of fire technique degree, certificated operation of detector.

케이블 트레이 설계시스템 개발 (Development of a Design System for a Cable Tray)

  • A cable tray is a structure made of metal or a non-combustible material that supports cables in the electrical wiring of buildings. Cable trays should be developed to meet the various requirements of the construction site. In this study, a design system was developed to calculate the maximum support load and the maximum deflection according to the cross-sectional shape of the cable tray. The cross-sections of cable trays were modeled by combining linear and arc elements, and cross-sectional characteristics such as the 2nd moment of area were calculated. The distributed load and the concentrated load were applied to the cable tray using the Euler beam theory, and then the deflection profiles and maximum stress were calculated. To verify the developed system, deflection distributions and maximum stresses for two types of cable trays were calculated and compared. The maximum deflection and maximum stress errors calculated from the developed system were found to be less than 4% compared with numerical analysis results.

  • 다양한 산업분야의 첨단제품들의 기능향상이나 디자인 등을 위해 알루미늄이나 마그네슘과 같은 가연성 금속의 사용량이 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 금속의 가공공정의 증가로 인한 금속분진이 발생할 가능성이 증가되며 이는 금속분진으로 인한 폭발사고의 증가로 이어지고 있다. 금속분진에 의한 폭발의 경우 고체 및 열분해에 의해 발생된 증기의 혼합 상태에서의 연소라는 점에서 실험적인 해석이 가스폭발이나 증기운 연소에 비해 매우 복잡하기 때문에 국내 외적으로 분진폭발에 대한 연구가 현재로서는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 가연성 금속분진의 폭발에 대한 리스크 분석을 위한 기반구조를 마련하고, 이러한 기반을 토대로 효율적인 분석방법을 제시하기 위해 분진폭발에 대한 폭발이론과 특성에 대하여 정리 및 제시하였으며, 금속성분진 별 폭발특성을 데이터베이스화 하여 분진폭발에 대한 리스크 분석과 연구에 사용할 수 있는 기반을 마련하였다.

착화탄 연소에 의한 가스 중독 환자에서 혈중 중금속 농도의 영향에 대한 예비연구 (Effect on blood heavy metal concentration in gas poisoning by combustion of ignition coal: Pilot study)

  • Purpose: It is known that the most common cause of gas poisoning in Korea is suicide attempts by burning ignition coals. Ignition coals are made from waste wood, and studies have been reported that heavy metals are emitted when this coal is burned. However, there was no study on how much heavy metal poisoning occurs in the human body through this, so this study was planned to find out whether the concentration of heavy metals in the blood increased in patients exposed to ignition coal combustion. Methods: From April 2020 to April 2021, blood lead, mercury, and cadmium concentrations were investigated in carbon monoxide poisoning patients who visited one regional emergency medical center in Seoul, and their association with exposure time, source of poisoning, and rhabdomyolysis were investigated. Results: During the study period, a total of 136 carbon monoxide poisoning patients were tested for heavy metals, and 81 cases of poisoning by ignition coal were reported. When comparing poisoning caused by combustion of ignition coal and other substances, there was no difference in the concentrations of lead, mercury, and cadmium in the blood, and there was no difference in the number of patients above the reference range. However, the patients exposed to more than 5 hours of ignition coal gas exposure are more frequent than those in the group less than 5 hours in lead (51.4% vs. 23.9%, p=0.012). Conclusion: Compared to poisoning with other combustible substances, the blood concentration of lead, mercury, and cadmium does not increase further in patients with gas poisoning by ignition coal. However, prolonged exposure may result in elevated levels of lead.
