Highly effective polymerase chain reaction (PCR) often brings about false positivity caused by contamination of the sample with target nucleic acids. To solve this problem, in situ PCR (ISPCR) has been developed and applied onto various tissue sections and suspension cultures. With combination of PCR and in situ hybridization, this method amplifies the nucleic acid targets in situ and detect the amplified products inside the cells over the background of various cell types. In order to amplify the nucleic acid targets inside the cells, permeabilisation of a sample is required for the entry of amplification reactants into a cell. Treatments of a sample for the purpose allow not only the entry of reactants into the cell but also the exit of amplification products out of the cell. As a means to reduce the leakage of the amplification products, two methods were applied to suspension cultures of HIV-infected Molt/LAV and U 1.1 cells, in which modified, tailed primers produced long linear amplificants whereas biotinylated dUTP instead of dTTP did bulky products.
Nitrite plays a major role in inhibiting the growth of foodborne pathogens, including Clostridium botulinum (C. botulinum) that causes botulism, a life-threatening disease. Nitrite serves as a color-fixing agent in processed meat products. However, N-nitroso compounds can be produced from nitrite, which are considered as carcinogens. Thus, consumers desire processed meat products that contain lower concentrations (below conventional concentrations of products) of nitrite or no nitrite at all, although the portion of nitrite intake by processed meat consumption in total nitrite intake is very low. However, lower nitrite levels might expose consumers to risk of botulism poisoning due to C. botulinum or illness caused by other foodborne pathogens. Hence, lower nitrite concentrations in combination with other factors such as low pH, high sodium chloride level, and others have been recommended to decrease the risk of food poisoning. In addition, natural compounds that can inhibit bacterial growth and function as color-fixing agents have been developed to replace nitrite in processed meat products. However, their antibotulinal effects have not been fully clarified. Therefore, to have processed meat products with lower nitrite concentrations, low pH, high sodium chloride concentration, and others should also be applied together. Before using natural compounds as replacement of nitrite, their antibotulinal activities should be examined.
This study aims to analyze the color characteristics of Japanese cultural product shops and differences in business categories by analyzing the colors of the Gion Shopping Street in Kyoto, Japan. Through the study, the traditional colors are reflected not only in the domestic cultural products but also the interior colors of shops. That way, visitors can be influenced naturally and gain indirect cultural experience to form a good image of Korea, which can help to improve sales of cultural products. The analysis was conducted through the colors of Munsell to determine the overall, dominant, assort, and accent colors based on categories of goods to identify the characteristics of the traditional Japanese cultural product shop. Among the 85 shops that were surveyed, YR and W frequently appeared as chromatic and neutral colors. Dominant was W, and assort was YR. B, P and Y also showed up. In color combination analysis, 35.3% was contrasted. For the hue, 32.9% was dark. Based on goods categories, confectionary shops used YR mainly, while souvenir and fashion accessory shops used W the most. Restaurants mostly had W as thedominant and YR for assorting. Cafes and art shops used Bk the most. The interior colors of cultural products shops should maintain the atmosphere of tradition and convey images of the products well. Based on this research, Korea also needs to actively reflect the interior designs of cultural product shops using traditional colors.

This study is about the assessment of utilization possibility as a material for cementation of ground which is necessary for the reinforcement of soft ground by making environment-friendly inorganic composite utilizing inorganic recycled resources, and it was verified that it showed higher uniaxial compressive strength than the existing cementitious ground solidifier when it was applied as a combination material for soft ground such as dredge reclaimed land, and since an inorganic composite utilizing recycled resources such as high calcium fly ash and blast furnace slag etc. does never use cement, it is considered that it would be safe in the issue of a hexavalent chromium that was recognized as a problem of a cementitious solidifier.
As the adoption of injection molding technology increases, injected-molded optical products require higher dimensional accuracy and optical stability than ever before. In the present study, four kinds of molding methods, i.e., conventional injection molding (CIM), injection/compression molding (ICM), rapid heat and cooling the mold(RHCM) and rapid injection/compression molding (RICM) were selected in order to investigate the optical anisotropy of a 7 inch Light Guide Plate(LGP) by examining the gap-wise distribution of birefringence and the extinction angle. The results indicate that the compression process can decrease flow-induced birefringence over the whole region and that rapid heating can decrease the birefringence level better than conventional molding. In addition, for the combination of compression and rapid heating a reversal flow was detected from the distribution of the extinction angle near the gate.

The role of 3' exonuclease excision in DNA polymerization was evaluated for primer extension using inert allele specific primers with exonuclease-digestible ddNMP at their 3' termini. Efficient primer extension was observed in amplicons where the inert allele specific primers and their corresponding templates were mismatched. However, no primer-extended products were yielded by matched amplicons with inert primers. As a control, polymerase without proofreading activity failed to yield primer extended products from inert primers regardless of whether the primers and templates were matched or mismatched. These data indicated that activation was undertaken for the inert allele specific primers through mismatch proofreading. Complementary to our previously developed SNP-operated on/off switch, in which DNA polymerization only occurs in matched amplicon, this new mutation detection assay mediated by $exo^+$ DNA polymerases has immediate applications in SNP analysis independently or in combination of the two assays.
In semiconductor manufacturing, the probe process between fabrication and assembly process is constrained mostly by the equipment capacity because most products pass through the similar procedures. The probe process is usually performed in a batch mode with relatively short cycle times. The capability of the probe process can be determined by the optimal combination of the equipments and the products. A probe line usually has several types of equipment with different capacity. In this study, the probe line is modeled in terms of capacity to give the efficient planning and control procedure. For the practical usage, the hierarchical capacity planning procedure is used. First, a monthly capacity plan is made to meet the monthly production plan of each product. Secondly, the daily capacity planning is performed by considering the monthly capacity plan and the daily fabrication output. Simple heuristic algorithms for daily capacity planning are developed and some experimental results are shown.

The last century of lighting has been dominated by incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge(HID)light sources. In the late 1970's, after green LEDs were invented, Dr. Ching Tang at Eastman Kodak discovered that sending an electrical impulse through carbon compound caused such material glow. Present day LED commercial packages have reached 100 lm/W, comparable to the efficacies of fluorescent and certain HID lamps. LED products available today are market as "Green-Industry" but actually low light output compared to typical light sources. The combination of high price and low light output make them a poor replacement for current technology. It is very important to compare new LED products to the most efficient conventional technology that could be used for any specific application. As LED technology advances, costs decrease, and efficiency improves, LEDs will build market share in the general illumination market.

In this paper, we consider several convolution sums, namely, $\mathcal{A}_i(m,n;N)$ ($i=1,2,3,4$), $\mathcal{B}_j(m,n;N)$ ($j=1,2,3$), and $\mathcal{C}_k(m,n;N)$ ($k=1,2,3,{\cdots},12$), and establish certain identities involving their finite products. Then we extend these types of product convolution identities to products involving Faulhaber sums. As an application, an identity involving the Weierstrass ${\wp}$-function, its derivative and certain linear combination of Eisenstein series is established.
Separation and identification of the polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) from pyrolysis products of cellulose and lignin were performed using a combination of acid-base solvent partitioning and silicic acid column chromatography with fused-silica capillary column gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry. Sixteen PAC were positively identifited by retention indices and mass spectra data. Both materials produced the same kinds of PAC. But lignin produced much more PAC than cellulose. Almost no highly carcinogenic heterocyclic PAC containing nitrogen and sulfur were produced.
